CONTRASTE y CONSECUENCIA O RESULTADO

En este apartado vamos a ver distintas maneras de expresar contraste y consecuencias. Sin

embargo, slo lo haremos mediante el uso de connectors o conjunciones. Dejaremos para

ms adelante las oraciones subordinadas consecutivas y concesivas.

Contraste: entendemos por contaste la expresin de ideas que se oponen o que indican

mensajes contrarios.

Observa los siguientes ejemplos:

Ralph likes country music butPat likes pop music (pero, conjuncin)

Ralph likes country music; however, Pat likes pop music ( sin embargo)

On the one hand, Ralph likes country music. On the other hand, Pat likes pop music

( por una parte,; por otra parte)

Unlike Ralph, Pat likes pop music(al contrario de R. a Pat le gusta la musica pop)

PRACTICE .- EXPRESSING CONTRAST.

Write 4 sentences expressing the contrast between the people in the picture. Use the forms

but, however , Unlike, and On the one hand on the other hand

Follow the example

- Mufasa is good-natured, but Scar is evil

- Mufasa is a good king; however, Scar is wicked

and vindictive.

- Unlike Scar, Mufasa has got a son, called Simba.

Consecuencia: o el resultado o efecto que una accin produce.

Analiza el siguiente ejemplo:

He failed all his exams because he hadnt studied at all( causa)

He didnt study at all; as a result, he failed all his exams(consecuencia)

He didnt study at all; as a consequence, he failed all his exams (consecuencia)

He didnt study at all; consequently, he failed all his exams (consecuencia)

He didnt study at all; so , he failed all his exams (consecuencia)

He didnt study at all; Thats why he failed all his exams (consecuencia)

He didnt study at all; because of this, he failed all his exams (consecuencia)
