c o m p l e x e a mettre en oeuvre . Le p r o c e d e a pu voi r le jour g r d c e

notamment d l ' investissement d ' A l i n g h i lors d e l 'Amer ica ' s C u p 2 0 0 7 .

LA CONSTRUCTION NAVALE Les chant iers romonds n 'ont cesse d ' e v o l u e r et d e p r o p o s e r des

nouvel les techno log ies de const ruct ion depu i s les annees 8 0 . Avec

tout d ' a b o r d le bois m o u l e , l a r g e m e n t maTtrise p a r Luthi et Psaros,

pour const ru i re les premieres genero t ions d e Toucon. Les d ivers Sand­

w i c h e s , compos i tes sous v i d e , p a r v o i e h u m i d e ou p r e - i m p r e g n e , la

cuisson, en a u t o c l a v e ou e n c o r e l ' in fus ion, se sont ensuite imposes .

Le p a n e l est vaste et les art i sans ont su rester invent i fs , s ' a d o p t a n t au

fil des ans a u x evolut ions techn iques . Si Deci s ion SA a c l a i r e m e n t

ete precurseur, en real i sant les voi l iers d e Feh lmann, la p l u p a r t des

chant iers ont suivi ce t r e n d , se spec ia l i sant souvent dans un d o m a i n e

precis , et jouant le jeu de la sous-t ra i tance pour le reste.

A ins i , Chr i s t ian Favre a ete un des premiers a s ' e q u i p e r d ' u n a u t o ­

c lave pour const ru i re ses möts. Cette c h a m b r e c h a u f f e e sous pres-

s ion permet d e c o n j u g u e r les effets d e la press ion, d e la t e m p e r a t u r e

et du v i d e . Yvan Ravussin, tres p r o c h e du mi l ieu des mu l t icoques

o c e o n i q u e s , s'est pou r so p a r t i l lustre de l o n g u e d a t e dans la rea l i -

sat ion d e pieces c o m p l e x e s pou r ceux -c i , c o m m e les a p p e n d i c e s .

The c h o i c e w a s extens ive a n d the craf t smen m o n a g e d to remoin Creat ive, a d o p t i n g over the years to the techno-l o g i c o l c h a n g e s . If Dec i s ion SA w a s c lear l y the precursor , m a k i n g Fehlmann's boot s , most of the b o a t y a r d s f o l i o w e d this t r e n d , often s p e c i a l i z i n g in a p a r t i c u l a r d o m a i n a n d out sou rc ing the rest.

This is h o w Chr i s t ian Favre b e c a m e one of the

first to e q u i p himself w i t h a n a u t o c l a v e for b u i l d i n g

his masts. W i t h this pressure-heated c h a m b e r , y o u

c a n c o m b i n e the effects of pressure, temperatu re

a n d v a c u u m . For a l o n g t ime n o w , Yvan Ravussin,

himself ve ry d o s e to the o c e a n - g o i n g mult ihul is ,

has b e e n c r e a t i n g c o m p l e x parts for them, l ike
