Feriado largo

Tal como anunciamos a principios de año en nuestro calen-

dario anual, el viernes 2 de mayo no trabajaremos, a cambio

del feriado del Día del Maestro en julio. Nos vemos el lunes 5

de mayo. Esperamos que disfruten del fin de semana largo.

Paseo a Qoricancha

El día lunes 28 de abril los chicos y chicas de noveno grado,

fueron de paseo al museo de sitio del Qoricancha. Aprove-

charon el espacio para poder entender el proceso de colo-

nización que vivió el Perú. Una vez más nuestros chicos pu-

dieron demostrar el Perfil IB; su conducta y manejo fuera del

colegio hizo que el espacio sea de aprendizaje. Pudieron

aprovechar las grandes ventajas que tenemos de vivir en

una ciudad que respira historia. ¡Adelante indagando!

Spelling Bee en Secundaria

El jueves 22 de mayo, llevaremos a cabo nuestro ter-

cer Spelling Bee. Tradicionalmente, un Spelling Bee es

un concurso de deletreo en el cual los participantes

deletrean una palabra en voz alta. Cuando los parti-

cipantes cometen un error son eliminados del con-

curso, teniendo un solo ganador. En nuestro Colegio,

los Spelling Bees son un poquito diferentes.

Todos los alumnos del grado estarán de pie en frente

de la audiencia. El/la organizador/a le dirá una palabra al

primer participante, si el alumno la deletrea correctamente,

continuará de pie y el/la organizador/a le dirá una palabra

al siguiente participante. Si este se equivoca al deletrear la

palabra, se sienta y continúa alentando a sus otros compa-

ñeros y la misma palabra es dada al siguiente participante,

en lugar de esperar a que haya un solo ganador, cuando los

45 minutos asignados para el evento expiren, todos los alum-

nos que continúen de pie ganarán un punto. Las palabras

usadas en este evento serán seleccionadas de la lista de

vocabulario trabajado en el grado entregado por la profe-

sora Jackie.

Animamos a todas las familias a que asistan al concurso y

hacer barra a sus hijos, aunque debemos recordarles que no

podrán ayudarlos durante la competencia.

La duración del Spelling Bee de cada grado será de 45 mi-

nutos. El horario es como se indica a continuación:

Long Weekend

As we announced in our annual calendar at the begin-

ning of the year, there will not be school on May 2nd in

lieu of Teacher Day in July. See you on Monday May 5th!

We hope you enjoy the long weekend.

Field Trip to Qoricancha

This Monday, April 28th, the Ninth Graders visited Qori-

cancha. This helped them better understand the conoli-

zation process in Peru.Once again, our students demon-

strated their IB profile; their behavior outside of school

enabled them to learn. They took advantage or the

wonderful resources available to us living in a city that

breathes history. Keep on inquiring!

Secondary School Spelling Bee

On Thursday, May 22 we will hold our Third Annual Spell-

ing Bee. A spelling bee is a

spelling contest in which par-

ticipants spell a word out loud.

As participants make a mis-

take, they are eliminated from

the contest leaving one win-

ner. In our school the spelling

bees are a bit different.

All the students in the grade will stand up in front of the

audience. The organizer will tell the first student a word, if

s/he spells it correctly, s/he remains standing and the

organizer tells the next child a word. However, if the stu-

dent misspells the word, s/he sits down and continues

cheering for his/her classmates and the same word is

given to the next participant. Instead of waiting until

there is only one winner, when the 45 minutes allotted for

the event expires, all the children still standing will earn a

point. The words used in this event will be from list of vo-

cabulary studied thus far provided by Teacher Jackie.

We encourage parents to attend and cheer on their

children, but remind them not to try to help their child

during the competition.

Each grade’s spelling bee will last 45 minutes. The

schedule is as follows:

Fiesta Pro Fondos Sexto Grado

Las familias de Sexto Grado han organizado la “Fiesta de los

80” pro fondos para la promoción. Esta se llevará a cabo en

la Discoteca Caos el viernes 02 de mayo a partir de las 9:30

Préstamos de Biblioteca

Recuerden que, para poder acceder a este servicio, deben

haber firmado el Compromiso de Uso de la Biblioteca entre-

gado durante las entrevistas con padres. Si no tuvieran esa

información a la mano, por favor solicitarla al/la profe de su

hijo/a. ¡Esperamos que nuestros alumnos/as puedan usar la

Biblioteca al máximo este año!

Uso de gorros y bloqueadores

Es obligatorio que nuestros alumnos y alumnas usen gorros y

bloqueadores durante las horas en que están expuestos al sol.

Les agradeceremos cumplir con esta norma y conversar con

sus hijos/as para que las respeten.

Sixth Grade Fundraiser

The Sixth Grade families are organizing a ¨80s Party” to

raise money for their graduation trip to be held this Fri-

day, May 2nd at 9:30pm at Caos Discoteque. It prom-

ises to be a good time for a good cause. If you are in-

Borrowing from the Library

In order to borrow books from the library, you must

have signed the library form distributed during Parent-

Teacher interviews. Please ask your child’s teacher

through the communication book if you need this form.

We look forward to our students using the library a

great deal this year!

Use of Hats and Sunblock

It is mandatory for students to use hats and sunblock

when they are exposed to the sun. Thank you for fol-

lowing this rule and talking with your children about

respecting it.
