Reunión de padres de Secundaria

El jueves tuvimos nuestra primera reunión con los madres y pa-

dres de familia de Secundaria. Allí tuvimos la oportunidad de

presentar a nuestro equipo de profesores/as y compartir infor-

mación relevante sobre el trabajo que realizaremos este año.

Agradecemos a todas las familias por el compromiso y la pre-

ocupación mostrada; también los felicitamos por su asistencia

y esperamos que para las próximas reuniones, más padres y

madres puedan asistir.

Comunicación Electrónica

Queremos agradecer a las familias que ya han dado sus datos

(en caso de que estos hubieran cambiado o en caso de fami-

lias nuevas) para mantener una buena comunicación electró-

nica. Para aquellos que todavía no han dado sus correos

electrónicos, les agradeceremos nos hagan llegar la informa-

ción correspondiente comunicándose con Secretaría del Co-

legio. Es muy importante para todos poder lograr este tipo de

comunicación entre familias y profesores/as. Si tienen alguna

pregunta al respecto, no duden en contactarse con nosotros. Programa AfterSchool

Esta semana, nuestros alumnos/as recibieron información sobre

el programa de AfterSchool. Las inscripciones terminan el lunes

24 de marzo. La confirmación de las inscripciones será enviada

el jueves 27 de marzo. Estas clases comenzarán el lunes 31 de

marzo y martes 1 de abril respectivamente. No olviden que el

pago por estas clases se hace directamente al profesor/a de

taller y deberá ser enviado el primer día de clases. Por favor,

no envíen el dinero al profesor/a de aula de su hijo/a. Lean

cuidadosamente el paquete sobre las inscripciones para ma-

yor información. Las invitaciones para el AfterSchool de Ma-

temáticas e Inglés, así como para la Selección de Vóley del

Colegio serán enviadas el lunes 17 de marzo. Si tienen alguna

pregunta sobre estas clases, comuníquese con el profesor/a

de su hijo/a. Aviso importante

Les recordamos que las familias de todos los grados solo pue-

den ingresar a las áreas de Colegio que están directamente

relacionadas con el trámite o gestión que desean hacer. El

lugar de espera de los padres y madres de familia está ubica-

do fuera de la Secretaría solamente cuando tienen que reali-

zar algún trámite. Préstamos de Biblioteca

Recuerden que, para poder acceder a este servicio, de-

ben haber firmado el Compromiso de Uso de la Biblioteca

entregado durante las entrevistas con padres. Si no tuvie-

ran esa información a la mano, por favor solicitarla al/la

profe de su hijo/a. ¡Esperamos que nuestros alumnos/as

puedan usar la Biblioteca al máximo este año! Servicio de Tópico de Enfermería

Les pedimos a aquellas familias que todavía no han llenado la

ficha médica que les hemos enviado, lo hagan lo antes posi-

ble a fin de garantizar el servicio adecuado. Uso de gorros y bloqueadores

Es obligatorio que nuestros alumnos y alumnas usen gorros y

bloqueadores durante las horas en que están expuestos al sol.

Secondary Parent Meeting

On Thursday we had our first Secondary parent meeting

for the year to receive important information about

school this year and get to know the core teachers work-

ing with the secondary students. We thank families who

attended and hope that more parents are able to at-

tend future meetings.

Electronic Communication

We would like to thank all families who

have provided their email addresses.

We’d like to ask those of you who have

not given us this information to please do

so by contacting the school secretary as

this is very important to achieve school-

family communication. Feel free to ask

any questions you might have about this.

Afterschool Program

This week children received information about the After-

school Program. Registration ends on Monday, March

24th. Registration confirmation will be sent on Thursday,

March 27th. These classes will begin March 31st and April

1st according to the class schedule. Don’t forget that

payment for these classes is directly with the workshop

teacher and should be sent on April 1st. Please do not

send money to your child’s classroom teacher (tutor/a).

Please read the registration packet carefully for more

information. Invitations for the afterschool English and

Math classes as well as the official school volleyball team

will be sent on Monday, March 17th. If you have any

questions about these classes, check with your child’s

teacher.

Important Notice

We would like to remind you that if parents need to enter

the school, they are only allowed in the areas which are

relevant to their visit. Parents are welcome to wait for

their appointments on the bench outside of the main of-

fice but they are not permitted to use the cafeteria.

Borrowing from the Library

In order to borrow books from the library, you

must have signed the library form distributed

during Parent-Teacher interviews. Please ask

your child’s teacher through the communica-

tion book if you need this form. We look for-

ward to our students using the library a great

deal this year!

School Nurse

Families who haven’t sent in the medical information sent

home this week, please do so as soon as possible in order

to provide appropriate care.

Use of Hats and Sunblock

It is mandatory for students to use hats and sunblock

when they are exposed to the sun. Thank you for follow-

ing this rule and talking with your children about respect-

ing it.

INFORMACIÓN SOBRE ESTACIONAMIENTO EN EL INGRESO Y SALIDA

DEL COLEGIO

El regreso a clases, renueva nuestros vínculos con los vecinos de la

Urbanización Santa María, lamentablemente en esta primera se-

mana de clases ya hemos tenido los primeros reclamos, debido a

padres que se han estacionado en las entradas de las casas de

nuestros vecinos bloqueando su cochera.

Quisiéramos pedirles seguir las siguientes indicaciones:

Solo las movilidades podrán ingresar a la calle de entrada del

colegio (la calle de tierra) y se podrán estacionar cerca a la

puerta para permitir la bajada de los alumnos/as. Los autos

particulares no podrán ingresar y deberán estacionarse en

las calles aledañas (las calles asfaltadas). Las familias que se

han organizado para llevar a varios niños a la vez deberán

estacionarse como auto particular, no como movilidad. Por

favor, hacemos un llamado especial a las familias que vie-

nen en taxis para que puedan dar estas indicaciones con

claridad y evitar inconvenientes.

No se podrán estacionar en segunda fila, ya que ello (aunque

sea unos segundos) interrumpe el tráfico, no solo de las otras

familias del colegio, sino además de los vecinos de Santa María

que a esa hora deben circular por esas vías camino a sus cen-

tros de trabajo. Los autos deberán estacionarse donde encuen-

tren sitio, de ser necesario, a una cuadra de distancia. Les re-

cordamos que el tráfico es más ligero mientras más temprano

lleguen.

Por ningún motivo deberán estacionarse en los garajes de nues-

tros vecinos. Los vecinos están muy mortificados por las veces

que les han bloqueado la entrada, por lo que agradecemos

eviten estacionarse, aun en los casos en que ustedes se queden

esperando en el volante. Necesitamos respetar a nuestros veci-

nos y evitar aumentar su malestar.

Sabemos de la incomodidad que está generando la construc-

ción de las veredas en toda la urbanización y que esto retrasa la

llegada al colegio; sin embargo, por algunas semanas más (nos

han indicado que hasta abril) debemos prever este inconvenien-

te para evitar llegar tarde.

Les pedimos que quienes observen autos rompiendo estas reglas

se las recuerden o anoten el modelo, color y número de placa

para poder hacerles un seguimiento desde la Dirección del Cole-

gio.

Agradecemos que nos ayuden a mejorar el vínculo con nuestros

vecinos, así como a demostrar los atributos de nuestro colegio.

Parking During Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Starting school this year renews our connections to our

neighbors in the Santa Maria neighborhood. Unfortu-

nately, in this first week of school, we have already re-

ceived the first complaints due to parents parking in front

of our neighbor’s driveways.

We would like to ask everyone to please follow the follow-

ing:

Only school busses are allowed to enter

the dirt road next to the school entrance

and park in order for students to get off.

Private vehicles may not enter; they

must park on the main asphalted roads.

Families that carpool to take many chil-

dren must follow the rules for private

vehicles – not school busses. A plea

goes out to families who use taxis to

clearly instruct the driver about these

rules and avoid any problems.

Double parking is NOT permitted because even if it is

for a few seconds, it blocks traffic flow for other

school families and our Santa Maria neighbors

who also need to get to work. Cars must park

where they can find a spot, even if that is a block

away. Remember that traffic is lighter the earlier

you arrive.

Parking in front of neighbors driveways is strictly pro-

hibited at all times. The neighbors are very upset

that they have had their driveways blocked.

Please do not do this even when the driver re-

mains in the vehicle. We must respect our

neighbors and prevent discomfort.

We understand the inconvenience caused by the con-

struction of sidewalks in the neighborhood and that this

causes it to take more time to arrive at school, but for a

few more weeks (we’ve been told until April) we must take

this time into account as to not arrive late.

We ask you to write down the make, model, color and

license plate number of anyone breaking these rules so

that the school can follow up.

Thank you for helping us improve our relationship with our

neighbors and demonstrate the attributes of our school’s

profile.

Qué hacer en caso de quemaduras

Esta información nos la hizo llegar el año pasado

Robyn Quintana, mamá de Mathew y Carolina, de

Noveno y Quinto Grado respectivamente. Conside-

ramos importante compartirla nuevamente con

ustedes:

1. Enfriar la zona quemada por 15 ó 30 minu-

tos con agua. El agua fría detiene la quemadura y

calma el dolor.

2. No sacar las prendas de vestir adheridas.

3. Proteger la zona con un paño limpio y húmedo.

4. Trasladar al paciente al centro de salud más cercano.

NO PONER ACEITE NI MANTEQUILLA EN UNA QUEMADURA. Existen

muchos “remedios caseros”, que en realidad producen mayor

daño que bienestar. Solo aplique agua en una quemadura.

Informaciones como ésta siempre son bienvenidas pues ayudan a

mejorar nuestro conocimiento sobre temas de seria consideración

y a ser más informados e instruidos.

Cool the burn with water for 15 – 30 minutes,

Cold wáter stops the burn and calms the pain.

Do not take off clothing that is stuck to the skin.

Protect the area with clean, wet cloth.

Get the patient to the closest health center.

DO NOT PUT OIL OR BUTTER ON A BURN. There are many

“home remedies”, like these, that in fact do much more

harm than good. Only put cold water on a burn.

Tips like these are always welcome as they help us be-

come more knowledgeable about important issues.
