hermoso verde esmeralda de los arroyos adyacen-

tes lo que dio nombre al antiguo Quetzal-a-c, y

también registran que el brillo del oro y la plata

lo encumbró como el Real de Minas de Nuestra

Señora de las Once Mil Vírgenes de Cosalá.

Muchos aseguran que este pueblo tiene magia, y

que sólo basta caminar sus calles de colores para

sentirlo, traspasar sus edificios coloniales para

respirarlo, o asomarse un poco a su historia para

The chronicles of the 16th century recount how

the beautiful green emerald of flowing streams

was what gave name to the ancient Quetzal-

a-c. History also recalls how the glimmering rib-

bons of gold and silver adorned this land when

it was named the Royal Mine of Nuestra Señora

de las Once Mil Vírgenes of Cosalá. This town

is magical,and you can find its charms tucked

along the colorful streets; you can bask in its

richness as you explore colonial buildings, and

Iglesia de Santa Úrsula

Visita la reserva Ecológica del Mineral de Nuestra Señora. Se encuentra a tan solo 8 Km. de la cabecera municipal y fue decretada como reserva ecológica. En ella se podrá conocer a detalle los trabajos de exploración y explotación minera con tecnología de punta, lo mis-mo que conocer instalaciones antiguas como muestra la riqueza mineral de la zona. Se puede practicar senderismo y conocer los petroglifos y visitar El Avia-rio de la guacamaya verde, segundo mas grande del país.

Visite El Museo de Minería e Historia, único en el país, ya que traza la historia minera del Estado con las colecciones de: documentos fotografías antiguas objetos prehispánicos y colo-niales metálicos muestras de minerales libros armas coches y herraduras de los siglos XVIII y XIX.

Visit the “Ecological Mineral Re-serve of Nuestra Señora”. It is located just 8 km from the Capital and was declared a natural reserve. There you can get to know in detail the works of exploration and mining using technology, the same as getting to know old buildings that show the mineral wealth of this area. You can also go hiking, see the petroglyphs and visit the Guacamaya Aviary, second largest in the country.

Visit the Mining and Historical Museum, unique in the country, trac-ing the history of the State mining collections: old photographs, prehis-panic and colonial documents, metal-lic mineral objects, weapons, books, cars and shoes of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Visite Higueras de Padilla a una distan-cia de 2.5 Km. de la cabecera municipal se conserva una de las atracciones de origen mas antiguo como la Molienda de Caña de Azúcar. En este lugar encontramos instalaciones y utensilios de trabajo que conservan la norma el estilo original, por lo que resulta de gran interés para quienes tienen la oportunidad de conocer el lugar. Es posible apreciar todos los procesos de la molienda y la consecuente elaboración de sus subproductos como lo es jugo de caña, la miel, la melcocha, la panocha simple y compuesta y los alfeñi-ques, mismos que pueden ser adquiridos y degustados en el propio lugar.

Visite San José de las Bocas: pue-blo minero a 27 Km. de Cosala donde brotan las aguas termales, considera-

das sagradas por sus efectos místicos, mágicos y curativos.

Visit “ Higueras de Padilla” at a distance of 2.5 Km from the Capital, there remains one of the oldest attractions the Sugar Cane Mill. Here you can find facilities and work tools that preserve the original style, so it is of great interest to those who have the opportunity to visit the place. It is posible to appreciate all the milling process and the consequent develop-ment of its products like sugar cane juice, honey and marshmallows, these can be purchased and tasted here.

Visit San Jose de las Bocas: mining town 27 km from Cosala where the ther-mal water spring are considered holy by its mystical, magical and healing effects .

Cascadas de Vado Hondo

Si tienes dos o tres días...If you have two or three days...Visite las grutas y manantiales México, maravilla geológica a 20 Km. de la ciudad con dirección norte, “La Gruta”, cuya compleja for-mación se localizan en su interior las figuras mas caprichosas formadas a través de los años por la naturaleza. Que representan un sitio ideal para la exploración, los viajes de estudio y el vuelo de la imaginación. A muy corta dis-tracción de estas formaciones, se localizan los manantiales que surgen de la profundidad del cerro y forman en su recorrido una atractiva serie de pozas que confluyen en un extraordi-nario remanso de agua color turquesa conoci-do como el “Charco Azul”

Visit the caves and springs Mexico, a geological wonder of the city 20 km to the north, “ The Cave” which complex formation is located inside the most fanciful figures formed over the years by nature. Represent-ing an ideal place for exploration, study tours and sending your imagination to fly. A short distraction from these formations are located springs that emerge from the depths of the hill and form attractive series of ponds that come together in an extraordinary turquoise pool of water known as the “ Blue Puddle”.

El Rodeo. Pueblo artesano.- A tan solo 5 Kilómetros de la Cabecera Municipal, por una carretera de terrecería en buenas con-diciones y transitable por todo tipo de vehí-culos, se llega a la comunidad de El Rodeo, lugar de gran tradición en la artesanía y la gastronomía donde sus habitantes se dedi-can a la elaboración de conservas (papaya, camote y limón), así como a la fabricación de cintos, huaraches, hamacas, morrales, sillas de montar, hamacas, cestos, etc.

El Rodeo. Artisan town. Only 5 kilometers from the capital city, on a road in good condition and passable for all types of vehicles, that is how you get to the com-munity of El Rodeo, place of great tradition of craftsmanship and gastronomy where its habitants are dedicated to conserva papaya, sweet potato and lemon and the manufacturing of belts, sandals, ham-mocks, bags, saddles and baskets.

Guadalupe de los Reyes. Esplendor de la Minería.-Utilizando preferentemente vehículos tipo pick up o doble rodado, deben recorrerse 35 kilómetros de carretera recubierta por terrecería para llegar a este sitio, el cual es junto con el Centro Histórico, el que muestra con más certeza el esplendor del Cosalá de los siglos XVIII y XIX, pudiéndose apreciar su arquitectura colonial que aunque ha sufrido el paso de los años, aún es capaz de mostrar el rostro de la época.

El esplendor y los años de bonanza de la minería, fueron fruto de esa tierra generosa que con su abundante contenido mineral hizo posible que se convirtiera en uno de los lugares más generadores de riqueza del noroeste del México. Así es posible realizar un recorrido guiado por su centenaria iglesia, el kiosco, las calles y callejones serpenteadas y angostos, el puente del río y la celda en donde narra la historia que estuvo encerrado Heraclio Bernal, quien realizó muchas de sus conocidas acciones en este lugar, todo esto en el corazón de un entorno de increíbles paisajes naturales en los que se puede gozar del encuentro con la exuberante y abundante flora y fauna de la región.

Presa José López Portillo. Se llega al lugar recorriendo un trayecto de 33 kilómetros partiendo de la Cabecera Municipal 8 de ellos se encuentran  pavimentados y los 23 restantes se conforman de una  carretera de terrecería en buen estado. En este sitio se ofrecen los servicios de hospedaje, alimentación y pesca deportiva por medio de una empresa prestadora de servicios. Resulta  igual-mente un sitio idóneo para degustar alguna de las especies de peces que se reproducen en el embalse y que son exquisitamente preparados por los pro-pios lugareños, como la tilapia y la lobina.

Guadalupe de los Reyes. Splendour of Min-ing. Using a pickup or double shot, go pass 35 miles of road covered by dirt road to reach this site, together with the Centro Historico, is the one that shows the greatest splendor of Cosala in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, being able to appreciate its colonial architecture eventhough it has suffered over the years, is still able to show the face of the era. The splendor and the boom years of mining, were the result of this generous land with its abundant mineral content made it posible to become one of the most generators of wealth in northwestern Mexico. it is posible to make a guided tour of its century old church, the kiosk, serpentine and narrow streets and alleys,the bridge over the river and the cell where the story tells was locked Heraclio Bernal, who made many of its known actions in this place, all in the heart of an enviroment of incredible natural landscapes on which you can enjoy the encounter with the lush and abundant flora and fauna of the region.

Dam Jose Lopez Portillo. You get near to the place crossing a distance of 33 kilometres departing from the Municipal Head-board , 8 of them they are paved and the 23 remaining ones conform of a road of dirt in good condition. In this site they offer the services of accomoda-tions, food and fishing by means of a company of service providers. It turns out to be equally a suitable site to taste some of the species of fish that are reproduced in the reservoir and that are exquisitely prepared by the own villagers, as the tilapia and large mouthbass.
