El Tequilófono El Tequilófono es un simpático instrumento inventado por Carlos Rivera Ro-jas. Es un instrumento que tiene varios niveles de madera, donde se encuentran copas de diferentes tamaños con líquido. Estas copas emiten diferentes sonidos para tocar melodías. Carlos me comenta que comenzó experimentando con botellas por que quería hacer algo diferente. Después se dio cuenta de que era más nítido el sonido de las copas. Y así logró hacer un divertido instrumento que utiliza en diferentes lugares para tocar en Playa del Carmen. Carlos es originario del Estado de México, llegó a Playa hace 18 años. Estuvo tocando 12 años en Xcaret y participa con un grupo de música prehispánica que se llama Fuego Maya. Toca varios instrumentos como la guitarra y la flauta y un poco el piano. Además de su carrera de músico, Carlos es escritor y acaba de editar un libro que se llama Ángeles y Suegras, donde habla de las profecías mayas con un toque de sátira. En estos días Carlos toca su Tequilófono en la 5 Av., entre la calle 4 y la calle 6 y en el restaurant Big Lobster por las noches.

ences around the globe. Toussaint, musician, composer and pro-ducer, has been a professional in the music industry for over 20 years. Graduated from Columbia University in Direction and Production for Radio and Television, he is currently the producer and director of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival in Playa del Carmen, founded in 2003.

Toussaint has participated as a drummer with artists such as Paul Anka, Herb Alpert, Ivan Lins, Clare Fisher, Alejan-dro Sanz, and Aguamala, among others with an extensive discography of more than 70 titles. The first show will share inside infor-mation on the Riviera Maya Jazz Festi-val, followed by an interview with Erik Montenegro, director of Horizonte FM (107.9), the only FM radio station in Mexico that is 100% dedicated to jazz, and sponsor of the first program. It will also contain a tribute to musician George Duke, legendary pianist known primarily for 30-odd solo albums as well as for his collaborations with other musicians, particularly Frank Zappa. And finally ‘el top de Alonso’ a list of the best, presents the top new bands in the music scene and much more. The Kurage Show will air on its You-Tube channel.
