Sunday’s Readings First Reading — A large number of people gathered, bringing the sick, and all were cured (Acts 5:12-16). Psalm — Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love is everlasting (Psalm 118). Second Reading — Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last, the one who lives (Revelation 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19). Gospel — The risen Christ comes to His disciples with peace and the Spirit. The absent Thomas doubts (John 20:19-31).

Seeing Is Believing

Seeing is believing! Since cellphone screens connect us instantly to social media, live TV, and loved ones’ faces near and far, “Doubting Thomas” could be our patron saint: “Unless I see, I will not believe!” But how comforting for any of us who share Thomas’ doubt, or love “doubters” who do, to see how kindly Jesus responds. By offering the very evidence that Thomas demanded, Jesus doesn’t scold Thomas, but seems to understand such skepticism. Could Jesus have been thinking of us, who long to believe that “Jesus is risen!” but see so much suffering, and perhaps even cause some, that we wonder, how could something so wonderful be true? In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, the risen Jesus’ healing love comforts through disciples who love others. In Revelation, “our brother John” doesn’t just claim he saw Jesus alive, but passes on Jesus’ life-giving words, “Do not be afraid.” Seeing Jesus in others is believing! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Second Sunday of Easter, Sunday of Divine Mercy

Peace Be With You Our Gospel reading today depicts the disciples in a terrifying moment. They have locked their doors, huddling together in safety at a time when the Lord has transformed the entire course of human events. Jesus has risen from the dead. He has destroyed death and unlocked eternal life. But who can fully grasp all of this? Not even Thomas, one of the twelve devoted companions of Jesus, understands what has happened. Those of us who have never faced maltreatment for our faith can only imagine the disciples’ panic. Unimpeded by their bolted doors, Jesus visits His frightened friends. His appearance must have been shocking, since He says to them “Peace be with you” not once, but twice. If the disciples hoped Jesus would come back to them, they might have wished He would appear as a victorious leader or glorious king. Instead, He comes as they have known Him and most need Him: as a companion, and He brings with Him the eternal peace of God. They might have wanted a bodyguard; instead He gives them peace. At Least A Shadow God knows what we need far better than we ourselves know. Jesus offers peace to the disciples—twice. He knows they must soon leave the security of locked doors. Shortly He will fill them with the gift of the Holy Spirit and rely on them to lead the community—and the world—into a new baptism, a new communion. At that moment in the locked room, the disciples see only threats to their lives. Jesus sees their fearful hearts and gives them what they need: peace. We see how Peter is trans-formed. Instead of hiding in shadows, he becomes a source of healing and light; his very shadow draws people into the mystery of God’s power. Jesus’ gift of peace makes a real difference in our lives. We can ask every day for more peace, in our hearts and in our world.

Quarterly Report During the period from October to December

2018, members of the St. Elizabeth Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul visited and aided 23 families. Forty-two bags of food were delivered to 14 of these families.

Our expenditures were as follows:

At Thanksgiving, we delivered 71 bags of food to 12 families along with a turkey, and at Christmas we delivered 111 bags of food, a turkey or ham, and 94 gifts for children to 13 families. If anyone knows of a senior citizen or disabled person who needs minor home repairs, housecleaning or other assistance, please call the church office and someone from our Society will contact that person.

Sunday, April 28, 2019 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus:

Receive a joyful Easter greeting; I ask God to fill you with peace today and always and that you will enjoy your family and friends.

When we live in harmony, we look at every-thing with optimism, and the negative things we look at as challenges which we can solve - our minds are free of problems when we focus on the goals we have and when we work towards them.

In the Gospel text, we find the apostles locked up in fear of the Jews, brave men who were used to daily work and to deal with thousands of difficulties now find themselves paralyzed, doing nothing, and those same men, who were, screaming in the sea, now lower their voices and do not want to be seen by anyone. Their lives have become unproductive; they are sad and fearful of their future.

When fear, anger, jealousy or some other negative feeling enters into our life, we become unproductive and unable to lead a life with joy and have a good relationship with our fellow human beings. And that is why when Jesus came to them, the greeting that He gives them is 'peace be with you' repeats it again and again, until peace and joy are nested in your heart (John 20:19-31).

And before any doubt that could overshadow His thought, He calls the one that has doubted His resurrection as the announce-ment was given by the disciples, 'we have seen the Lord', He is alive, Jesus calls Thomas and makes him touch His wounds, and then Thomas expresses, my Lord and my God!

This Sunday the Church invites us also to feel the Peace of the Risen Christ, of the living God who gives us that spirit of joy, but it is necessary that we have peace in our hearts, that peace that does not let our heart be disturbed by the adversities of life. The Church invites us to work and to witness that we have God in our lives, perhaps showing the enthusiasm and the wonders of the nascent church, Why not? (Acts of the Apostles 5:12-16).

Do not let the problems of our times cloud our hope and our faith.

You must be a gift in the hand of God that is ready to be presented by Him to everyone without distinction. This is a gift everyone would love and desire. The greatest mistake is failing to be aware that other people are Christ. There are many people who will not discover this until their last day. If you examine the personality of every person, you will find that no two people are alike. Do not generalize. The human personality is not a cassette tape that can be mass produced. We must learn to thank one another--the recipient for the love and help received and the donor for the opportunity to grow in love. Why do you set up court every day and force your neighbors to file through one by one? Why do I always see you sitting on the judge's bench, but never in the defendant's seat? Bài đọc 1: Cv 4:32-35 Các tín hữu thời Giáo Hội sơ khai, họ chỉ có một lòng, một ý, sống hòa hợp yêu thương giúp đỡ nhau. Họ sống trong niềm vui và bình an vì mỗi người được lãnh nhận tùy theo nhu cầu của mình. Chúa Nhật, ngày 28 tháng 4 năm 2019 Kính thưa quý Ông Bà và Anh chị em,trong Chúa Kitô

Trong niềm hân hoan mừng Chúa Phục Sinh, tôi nguyện xin Thiên Chúa ban tràn đầy ơn bình an xuống cho quý Ông Bà và anh chị em, gia đình và thân hữu, hôm nay và mãi mãi.

Khi chúng ta sống trong an hoà, chúng ta nhìn mọi sự đầy lạc quan; và dưới con mắt chúng ta, những điều tiêu cực là những thách đố trong cuộc sống mà chúng ta có thể giải quyết được. Tâm trí của chúng ta không bị ảnh hưởng bởi bất cứ vấn đề gì khi chúng ta tập trung vào mục tiêu mà chúng ta muốn đạt được và luôn làm mọi cách để đạt được chúng.

Trong bài Tin Mừng hôm nay, chúng ta thấy các tông đồ chốt cửa lại vì sợ người Do Thái. Những người mà chúng ta thấy thường phải đối phó với hàng ngàn khó khăn bây giờ bị tê liệt vì sợ hãi, không dám làm gì cả, cũng chính những người đó hằng ngày la hét với sóng biển bây giờ dịu giọng xuống và không muốn ai nhìn thấy mình. Cuộc sống của họ trở nên vô hiệu; họ buồn rầu và lo sợ về tương lai của mình.

Khi sợ hãi, giận dữ, ghen tuông hoặc một số cảm giác tiêu cực khác xâm nhập vào cuộc sống của chúng ta, chúng ta trở nên vô hiệu và không thể nào sống vui vẻ hoặc có mối quan hệ tốt với mọi người xung quanh. Đó là lý do tại sao khi Chúa Giêsu hiện đến với các tông đồ, lời chào mà Ngài ban cho họ là "Bình an cho các con" được lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần, cho đến khi bình an và niềm vui được thật sự thấm nhập vào trong lòng mỗi người (Gioan 20,19-31).

Và khi mọi người còn đang chưa kịp trấn tĩnh, Chúa Giêsu gọi người môn đệ đã nghi ngờ về sự sống lại của Ngài khi ông nghe các môn đệ khác loan báo ‘chúng tôi đã thấy Chúa, Ngài còn sống’, Chúa Giêsu gọi Tôma và bảo ông chạm vào vết thương của Ngài. Ngay sau đó, Tôma đã thưa lên: “Lạy Chúa của tôi, lạy Thiên Chúa của tôi!”

Ngày Chủ nhật hôm nay, Giáo hội cũng mời gọi chúng ta hãy cảm nhận sự bình an của Chúa Kitô Phục sinh, sự bình an của Thiên Chúa hằng sống, Ngài đã mang đến cho chúng ta tinh thần vui tươi đó. Nhưng điều cần thiết là chúng ta phải có sự bình an trong tâm hồn của mình, sự bình an mà sẽ không để chúng ta bị xáo trộn bởi những nghịch cảnh của cuộc sống. Giáo hội mời gọi chúng ta hãy hành động và làm chứng rằng chúng ta có Chúa trong cuộc đời của mình; có lẽ là qua việc thể hiện lòng nhiệt thành và các dấu lạ của Giáo hội thời sơ khai. Sao lại không? ( CVTĐ 5, 12-16) Hãy đừng để những vấn nạn của thời đại che mờ đi niềm hy vọng và đức tin của chúng ta. Nguyện xin Thiên Chúa ban ơn phù trợ cho quý Ông Bà và Anh chị em! Mừng Chúa Phục Sinh!

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo Jesús:

Reciban un alegre saludo de Pascua, y pido a Dios que les llene de paz hoy y siempre para que puedan disfrutar de sus familiares y amigos.

Cuando nosotros vivimos en armonía, todo lo miramos con optimismo y las cosas negativas las miramos como retos que podemos resolver, nuestra mente trabaja sin problemas enfocándose en las metas que tenemos y caminamos hacia ellas.

Los apóstoles en el texto del evangelio los encontramos encerrados por miedo a los judíos, hombres valientes que estaban acostumbrados al trabajo diario y a lidiar con miles de dificultades ahora los encontramos paralizados y sin hacer nada y esos mismos hombres que gritaban en el mar ahora bajan la voz y no quieren ser vistos por nadie. Su vida se ha vuelto improductiva, están tristes y temerosos de su futuro.

Cuando el miedo, el enojo, los celos o algún otro sentimiento negativo entran en nuestra vida, nos volvemos improductivos e incapaces de llevar una vida con alegría y una buena relación con nuestros semejantes, y es por eso que cuando Jesús viene a ellos, el saludo que les da es ‘la paz este con ustedes’ lo repite una y otra vez, hasta que la paz y la alegría se anida en su corazón. (Juan 20:19-31)

Y ante cualquier duda que pudiera ensombrecer su pensamien-to, Él llama al que ha dudado de su resurrección a ese anuncio que han dado otros discípulos, ‘hemos visto al Señor’ está vivo, Jesús le llama y hace que Tomás toque sus heridas, y que exprese ¡Señor mío y Dios mío!

Este Domingo la Iglesia nos invita también a sentir la Paz de Cristo resucitado, del Dios vivo que nos da ese espíritu de alegría, pero es necesario que tengamos paz en nuestro corazón, esa paz que no deja que nuestro corazón se inquiete ante las adversidades de la vida. La Iglesia nos invita a trabajar y a dar testimonio de que tenemos a Dios en nuestras vidas, quizás mostrando el entusiasmo y los prodigios de la iglesia naciente, ¿Por qué no? (Hechos de los apóstoles 5: 12-16)

No dejemos que los problemas de nuestro tiempo nublen nuestra esperanza y nuestra fe.

Ver es Creer

¡Ver es creer! Desde que los teléfonos celulares nos conectan instantáneamente a las redes sociales, televisión en vivo y los rostros de nuestros seres queridos de cerca y lejos, “Tomás el incrédulo” podría ser nuestro santo patrón: “¡hasta que no lo vea, no lo creeré!” Pero que reconfortante para cual-quiera de nosotros que compartimos las dudas de Tomás, o nos gustan los “incrédulos” que lo hacen, para ver qué tan amable responde Jesús. Al ofrecer la misma evidencia que Tomás pedía, Jesús no reprendió a Tomás, sino parece que entendió su incredulidad. ¿Es que acaso Jesús estaba pensando en nosotros, que anhelábamos creer que “¡Jesús resucitó!”, pero ver demasia-do sufrimiento y quizá incluso haber causado algo, que nos pre-guntamos, cómo algo tan extraordinario sería verdad? En las lecturas de hoy del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, el amor de Jesús resucitado da consuelo por medio de sus discípulos que amaban a los demás. En el libro del Apocalipsis, “nuestro hermano Juan” no solo afirma que vio vivo a Jesús, sino que transmite las palabras de Jesús que dan vida: “¡No tengan miedo!” ¡Ver a Jesús en los demás es creer! Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe

La Iglesia católica es universal, extendida en diversas naciones y culturas. A través de los siglos estas culturas han enriquecido la Tradición de la Iglesia con muchas tradiciones y devociones que van más allá de su cultura de origen. La fiesta de la Divina Misericordia es un buen ejemplo. Viene de una devoción que nació en Polonia con la Hermana santa Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938) canonizada en el 2000. La devoción a la Divina Misericordia se celebra el Segundo Domingo de Pascua y durante todo el año orando la Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia. En Latinoamérica se ha ido extendiendo esta devoción desde 1978 cuando fue aproba-da por el Papa Paulo VI. En todas partes se puede encontrar la imagen de la Divina Misericordia, Jesús de pie con rayos rojos y blanco-azules que brillan desde su corazón hacia el mundo. Lleva el lema: Jesús, confío en tí. La finalidad de esta devoción es recordar al pecador que la misericordia de Dios es infinita e inagotable. Nos reunimos para aprender más de la palabra, dar gracias a nuestro Padre Dios por las maravillas que hace, venimos a ofrecerle alabanzas y también tenemos conferencistas que los invitamos a darnos testimonios de fe, esperanza y caridad.

Segundo Domingo de Pascua Domingo de la divina Misericoridia

La Paz Sea Con Ustedes La lectura del Evangelio de hoy describe a los discípulos en un momento alarmante. Pusieron cerrojos a sus puertas,

refugiándose juntos con seguridad en un momento cuando el Señor transformó el curso entero de los eventos humanos. Jesús resucitó de la muerte. Él destruyó la muerte y liberó la vida eterna. ¿Pero quién puede entender completamente todo esto? Ni siquiera Tomás, uno de los Doce devotos compañeros de Jesús, entendió lo que había pasado. Aquellos de nosotros que nunca hemos enfrentado maltrato a causa de nuestra fe podemos solo imaginar el pánico de los discípulos. Sin ningún problema con las puertas cerradas, Jesús visita a sus amigos asustados. Su apariencia debió de haber sido impactante, pues les dice “la paz sea con ustedes” no una vez, sino dos. Si los discípulos esperaban que Jesús regresara a ellos, entonces deseaban que regresara como un líder victorioso o rey glorioso. Al contrario, él viene como lo conocieron y como más lo necesitaban, como un compañero, y trae con él la paz eterna de Dios. Podrían haber querido un guardaespaldas; en cambio él les da la paz. Dios sabe lo que necesitamos mucho mejor de lo que nosotros sabemos. Jesús ofrece paz a los discípulos, dos veces. Él sabe que deben salir de la seguridad de las puertas cerradas. En breve, él los llenará con el don del Espíritu Santo y confiará en ellos para guiar a la comunidad, y al mundo, a un nuevo Bautismo, una nueva comunión. En ese momento, en la habitación cerrada, los discípulos solo ven las amenazas para sus vidas. Jesús ve sus corazones temerosos y les da lo que necesitan: paz. Vemos como Pedro se transforma. En lugar de esconderse en las sombras, él se hace una fuente de sanación y luz; su propia sombra lleva a las personas hacia el misterio del poder de Dios. El don de la paz de Jesús hace una diferencia verdadera en nuestras vidas. Cada día podemos pedir más paz, en nuestros corazones y en nuestro mundo.

Sociedad de San Vincente de Paul

Reporte Trimestral

Durante el período de octubre a diciembre 2018, los miembros de la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul y Santa Elizabeth visitaron y ayudaron a 23 familias. Se entregaron 42 bolsas de comida a 14 de éstas familias.

Nuestros gastos son los siguientes:

Durante Acción de Gracias entregamos 71 bolsas de comida con un pavo a 12 familias. En Navidad entregamos 111 bolsas de comida con pavo o jamón, y 94 regalos para niños de 13 familias. Si usted conoce a una persona mayor o discapacitada que necesita ayuda de pequeñas reparaciones en su casa, o de limpieza o algún otro tipo de ayuda, por favor llame a la oficina parroquial y un miembro de nuestra sociedad se comunicará con la persona.
