MEASURE 1: Cars without car doors

• Limit : 10 years for elevators older than 20 years, 15 years for others

• Criteria's : Car door

• Requirements : Full lengthed car door acc. EN 81

MEASURE 2: LEVELLING ACCURACY

• Limit : 10 years for elevators older than 20 years, 15 years for others

• Criteria's : The levelling precision must be better than +/- 20mm.

• Requirements : If concerned, the levelling precision must be better than +/- 10mm

MEASURE 3: WORKERS PROTECTION IN SHAFT

Limit : 5 years

Criteria's : Each elevators must be equipped with an inspection box on the car

roof and limit switches must limit the car travel

Requirements : Inspection box and limit switches according to EN 81

MEASURE 4: LANDING DOOR LOCKS

Limit : 5 years

Criterias : Door locks must respect last Austrians standards

Requirements : Locks must be equipped with triangle for emergency opening,

conform switches, 1 part enclosure

MEASURE 5: SHOCK PROTECTION ON AUTOMATIC CAR DOORS

Limit : 5 years

Criterias : car door closing must not involve shocks

Requirements : Automatic car doors must be equipped with a light barrier or with

an equivalent shock proof system

MEASURE 6: EMERGENCY CALL, SAFETY CAR LIGHTING

Limit : 10 years

Criterias : Emergency calls must be acoustic, identified and connected to a

call center. Safety car lighting according to standards

Requirements : Tele-alarm or tele-monitoring, safety car lighting

MEASURE 7: MACHINE ROOM ACCESS

Limit : 10 years

Criterias : Access to machine room must be in accordance to EN 81

Requirements : Doors, locks, stairs, ladders according to EN 81

MEASURE 8: SAFETY SYSTEM BELOW CAR DOOR

Limit : 5 years

Criterias : The protection panel under the car door must involve the falling in

the shaft

Requirements : The protection panel under the car door must comply with actual

standards (height 75 cm)

MEASURE 9: LANDING DOORS GLASSES

Limit 10 years

Criterias : The glass resistance must be sufficient to improve the access into

the shaft

Requirements : The glass must be « securit » or equivalent.

MEASURE 10: PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCKS

Limit : 5 years

Criterias : All electric parts (controllers, selectors, etc.) must be equipped with

a protection panel and a warning message. Power supply must

comply with actual standards.
