Introducción IntroductiónAsambleístas todosNos presentamos ante ustedes para ren-dir cuentas de las acciones que en vuestro nombre, tuvo a bien ejecutar el Servicio So-cial de Iglesias Dominicanas en el país y en otras latitudes donde se nos permitió llegar con nuestros programas y proyectos a lo largo del año 2007.El año 2007 fue un año de bendición aunque si tuvimos que pasar por diversas situacio-nes en que se vio envuelto nuestro país, al acontecer varios desastres naturales, como lo fueron las Tormentas Noel y Olga, lo que dejo cientos de muertos y miles de familias desprotegidas; pero gracias a Dios, el cual sigue siendo el dueño y Señor del SSID, que proveyó de ayuda, tanto humani-taria, económica como espiritual, para esas familias; por lo que estamos eternamente agradecidos de Dios por permitirnos ser la vía y canal para poder servir a los demás en momentos de necesidad. No dejando de reconocer el significativo aporte de nuestras agencias de cooperación internacional como CWS y la Ayuda de la Iglesia Noruega (AIN), que tanto con recursos económicos y materiales, contribuyeron a amortiguar los catastróficos efectos de la crisis, pero tam-bién la iglesia local realizó un gran esfuerzo en esa dirección, así como también de algu-nas instituciones del Gobierno. Por eso, la relevancia de nuestro trabajo estriba en la necesidad de orientar a la ins-titución por los mejores senderos, acorde con nuestra visión y misión, dadas las ac-tuales exigencias y retos planteados por las nuevas tendencias mundiales, que nos desafían a nuevas y mejores formas de ser-vicio. A través de los programas de Salud, Edu-cación, Medio Ambiente, Producción y Gen-

All AssambleistsWe introduce ourselves to you, to show the report wich in your name was executated by the Social Service of Dominican Churches in this country and in other latitudes where we could develope our programs and proyects during the 2007.The 2007 was a year of blessing, although we went through a lot of different situations in wich our country was involved, as several natural disasters like the Storms Noel and Olga, wich left hundreds of deads and thou-sands of unprotected families: but thanks God, Who keeps being the owner and Lord of the SSID, wich provided the help, humanitarian, economical as spiritual, for those families; and so we will be eternally thankful to God, for allow us to be the way and chanel to be able of serving the others in moments of need. Not stopping of re- cognizing the significative contribution of our agencies of international cooperation as CWS and the help of the Noruegan Church of Help (NCH), that contributed to cushion the catastrophic effects of the crisis, but also the local church made a great effort in that direction, so as some Government in-stitutions.That’s why the relevance of our work re-lies on the need of guiding the institutions through the best roads, according to our vi-sion and mision, because of the actual de-mands and challenges setted by the new world tendencies wich defy our new and best forms of service.Through the programs of Health, Education, Environment, Production & Incomming Gen-erators, Church & Society and Emergency: as the Proyect Dominican- Haitian Dialogue of the Evangelical Churches, with their dif-ferent activities and components, the insti-


eración de Ingresos, Derecho y Justicia, Iglesia y Sociedad y Emergencia; así como también con el Proyecto de Diálogo Domini-cano Haitiano de las Iglesias Evangélicas; con sus diferentes actividades y compo-nentes, la institución ha realizado acciones de gran significado y valor para la población de cobertura y para la sociedad dominicana en sentido general.A nivel general pudimos impactar las vidas de alrededor de mas de 20,000 familias y 90,000 personas en 150 comunidades de las regiones de nuestra cobertura. Además de las acciones de ayuda y socorro dirigidas a las zonas vulnerables impactadas por el paso de los desastres naturales, ocurridos entre octubre y diciembre del año 2007; de las cuales daremos también informe a esta honorable Asamblea.

En el 2007 utilizamos los indicadores prin-cipales identificado en el plan operativo como elementos centrales para cuantificar los alcances logrados con el trabajo de faci- litación del SSID.

El contenido responde a las siete áreas programáticas de trabajo: Educación, Salud, Agropecuaria, Medio Ambiente, Derecho y Justicia, Micro crédito, e Iglesia y Socie-dad; en las cuales laborados a través de las cinco regiones de cobertura principal de la institución: Monte Plata, Este, Noroeste, Barahona y San Juan de la Maguana.

En la tabla de más abajo presentamos 46 de los indicadores más relevantes, considera-dos el plan 2007 como resultado del trabajo institucional. De estos 15 (32%) correspon-den a Salud, 9(19%) a Medio Ambiente, 8(17%) a Educación, 4(9%) Agropecuario, 4(9%) Iglesia y Sociedad, 3(7%) Derecho y Justicia, 3(7%) Micro crédito.

La ejecución de los indicadores alcanzó un total de 93 comunidades. La distribución de las mismas por región fue la siguien-te: Monte Plata 23 comunidades para un 24%, Este 14 comunidades para un 15%, Noroeste 16 comunidades para un 17% y San Juan y Barahona con 20 comunidades para un 22% cada una.

In 2007 we used the main indicators iden-tified in the operating plan as central ele-ments to quantify the scopes achieved with SSID´s facilitation work.

The contents respond to the seven pro-grammatic work areas: Education, Health, Agriculture, the Environment, Law and Justice, Micro-Credits, and Church and So- ciety. These were worked on throughout the institution’s five main regions of coverage: Monte Plata, the East, the Northwest, Barahona, and San Juan de la Maguana.

The table below presents 46 of the most relevant indicators, considering the 2007 plan as the result of the institution’s work. Of these, 15 (32%) correspond to Health, 9 (19%) to the Environment, 8 (17%) to Edu-cation, 4 (9%) to Agriculture, 4 (9%) Church and Society, 3 (7%) Law and Justice, 3 (7%) Micro-Credits.

The execution of the indicators reached a total of 93 communities. Their distribution by region was as follows: Monte Plata 23 communities for 24%, the East 14 commu-nities for 15%, the Northwest 16 communi-ties for 17%, and San Juan and Barahona with 20 communities for 22% each.

Valoración de los logros del SSID en el 2007

Si hacemos una reflexión sobre el significa-do que representan los siguientes indicado-res, podríamos asegurar que las acciones realizadas a través del trabajo de los diferen-tes programas, proyectos y actividades del SSID, están contribu yendo en gran manera en los procesos de cambios a favor de la población de cobertura o clientes nuestros.

Invitamos a revisar y valorizar la relevancia de cada uno de estos indicadores de resul-tados, entendiendo que corresponden a co-munidades de las más pobres del país.

Educación:1) 2267 familias participan activamente en la elaboración y ejecución de planes de de-sarrollo de su comunidad. La participación de este número de familia en acciones de

If we reflect on the significance of the fol-lowing indicators, we can be sure that the actions performed through the work of SSID´s various programs, projects, and ac-tivities are contributing greatly in the pro-cesses of change in favor of the population covered or our clients.

2) 842 líderes aumentaron sus niveles de concientización sobre su responsabilidad en los procesos de gestión de desarrollo comu-nitario. Esto es clave si queremos lograr transformación las comunidades y el país. Estamos comprometidos a reforzar este proceso de educación.

3) 1,720 niñ@s de 3 a 6 años reciben edu-cación inicial a través de 80 centros en 71 comunidades.

4) 312 iletrados adultos aprenden a leer y escribir correctamente mediante el trabajo de alfabetización que desarrollamos en co-munidades marginadas.

En lo que respecta al progreso en los niveles de educación de los matriculados, lo niños van de-sarrollando habilidades acorde con el tiempo de docencia que tiene en los centros. La meta es llevarlo a una preparación que le permita entrar al nivel primario con una buena base para avanzar de manera regular en ese nivel. Otro asunto es que actualmente apenas se inicia el periodo de evaluaciones y todavía no tenemos estadísticas de niñ@s que pasan al nivel primario; igualmente para los adultos que están en el proceso de al-fabetización, de los cuales tendremos un poco mas tarde las estadísticas de los que ya dominan la lectura y escritura.

Regarding the progress in the levels of educa-tion of persons registered, the children develop skills according to the time they are taught in the centers. The goal is to take them a prepara-tion that will allow them to enter primary school with a good base for progressing regularly at that level. Another matter is that at present we are barely starting the evaluation period, and we still don’t have statistics on the girls that go on to the primary level; the same thing is true for adults who are in the process of becoming literate, for whom we will have the statistics a little bit later about those who can already read and write.

Voluntariamente trabajo como facilitado-ra de alfabetización y promotora de salud en mi comunidad. Como promotora aconsejo sobre la prevención de enfermedades infec-ciosas, sobre la higiene y otros temas. Tam-bién evaluamos los niños mensualmente a través del pesaje y medición de talla para determinar su estado de nutrición. Gracias a este apoyo no tenemos niños desnutridos como anos atrás.En el poco tiempo que tengo trabajando con el SSID como voluntaria me siento bien porque hay muchas cosas que yo no sabia sobre VIH/SIDA y otros asuntos de salud que lo he aprendido con el programa. Ahora puedo ayudar y orientar a otros.Me siento agradecida del SSID por lo que ha colaborado para el desarrollo de mi co-munidad consiguiendo parcelas, suminist-rando semillas, orientando, rotulan la tierra con tractores. Así mismo he visto como el SSID aporta zinc, madera y clavo para que afectados por castatrofes puedan reparar si viviendas.

Iwork as a volunteer literacy facilitator and health promoter in my community. As a promoter, I advise on the prevention of infectious diseases, on hygiene, and other subjects. We also evaluate the children monthly weighing them and measuring their height to determine their state of nutrition. Thanks to this support, we haven’t had any malnourished children for years now.In the short time I have been working with SSID as a volunteer, I feel good because there are many things I didn’t know about HIV/AIDS, and other health matters, that I have learned with the program. Now I can hI am grateful to SSID for its collaboration in the development of my community, getting plots of land, supplying seeds, counseling, tilling the soil with tractors. I have also seen how SSID contributes tin sheets, wood, and nails for those affected by the storms, so they can repair their homes.

Yo trabajo con los niños chiquitos ense-ñándole en su inicio, y para mi es un or-gullo, porque a través de los que le enseño también aprendo de ellos.El SSID con los programas benefician mucho a las familias porque los niños aprenden y se divierten juntos no teniendo tiempo para las peleas y travesuras.Las madres se sienten bien y ellas mismas traen sus niños, el SSID facilita los útiles es-colares, además nos capacita con charlas, talleres y orientaciones.Además agradecemos al SSID lo mini ayun-tamiento que nos han facilitado para la lim-pieza, que es de bien para toda la comuni-dad.

Iwork with small children teaching them at their start, and I am proud of it, because through what I teach them, I also learn from them.SSID with the programs benefit many fami-lies because the children learn and have fun together, and don’t have time for fights and mischief.The mothers feel good and they themselves bring their children; SSID facilitates school utensils, and also trains us with chats, work-shops, and counseling.We also are grateful to SSID for the mini-town halls that they have facilitated us for cleaning, which is good for the entire com-munity.


Salud:1) 3,361 niños y niñas recibieron atención de vigilancia de crecimiento y control de la nutrición a través de agentes comunitarios. Con acciones como esta contribuimos a disminuir el avance de la desnutrición en nuestro país y aseguramos el futuro de los niños y niñas.

2) 611 líderes comunitarios integrados en el proceso de mejora de la salud. La partici-pación comunitaria constituye un elemento fundamental del desarrollo, más significa-tiva cuando en muchos casos se agregan jóvenes y mujeres, además del liderazgo tradicional.

3) 1,377 familias elevaron su nivel de edu-cación en diferentes aspectos de la salud. La educación y capacitación es un elemento clave para conseguir un estado de salud en las familias y la comunidad.

4) 2,860 beneficiarios que participan en los procesos de seguimiento y monitoreo de las actividades de Atención Primaria en Salud (APS). 5) 431 madres ponen en práctica la lactancia exclusiva sin ningún otro tipo de alimento durante el 1er ano de sus niñ@s.

6) 4,202 familias están capacitadas en el manejo de mecanismo de prevención y control del dengue, como una contribución importante a la detención de la propagación del Dengue.

7) 3,224 familias realizaron practicas en sus hogares de higiene garantizar el manejo de los alimentos y prevención de enferme-dades.

Health:1) 3,361 children received attention of su-pervision over growth and nutrition control through community agents. With actions such as this one, we contribute to reducing the advance of malnutrition in our country, and ensure the future of the children.

2) 611 community leaders are integrated into the process of health improvement. Community participation constitutes a fun-damental element of development, more significant when in many cases young peo-ple and women are added, in addition to the traditional leadership.

3) 1,377 families raised their educational level in different aspects about health. Edu-cation and training is a key element to ob-taining a state of health in the families and community.

4) 2,860 beneficiaries who participate in the processes of follow-up and monitoring of the activities of Primary Health Care (APS).

5) 431 mothers put into practice exclusive lactation without any other type of feeding during the 1 year of life of their children.

6) 4,202 families are trained in the handling of mechanisms for the prevention and con-trol of dengue fever, as an important contri-bution to halting the propagation of Dengue Fever.

7) 3,224 families performed practices of hygiene in their households in order to guarantee the handling of foods and the preven-tion of diseases.

Assessing the nutritional status of children coverage SSID Health Program

EVALUACION DE LA SITUACION NUTRICIONAL DE LOS NIÑ@S DE COBERTURA DEL SSIDPROGRAMA DE SALUD


En lo referente a los casos de desnutrición, de un total de 3,436 niños cubiertos por el programa de APS se evaluaron 3 413; y de estos, solo 112(el 3.28%) estaban desnutri-dos. De ellos tan sólo 22(0.64%) presenta-ban desnutrición severa. Esta cantidad de niños desnutridos da cuanta de un gran logro de la institución a través de las acciones de sus programas; pues es un nivel mínimo en comparación con la situación de desnu-trición nacional publicadas por los diversos estudios de la presente década. Hacemos referencia al documento: Atlas del Hambre y la desnutrición en la Republica Dominicana del Programa mundial de Alimentos (WFP). Además, debemos significar que de los ca-sos de desnutrición severa reportados, 4 de ellos de niños VIH +. Así mismo 14 de los casos (Región de Barahona) correspon-den a familias de bateyes del bajo Yaque del Sur en donde se registra altos índices de pobreza.

With regard to the cases of malnutrition, out of a total of 3,436 children covered by the APS program, 3,413 were evaluated; out of these, only 112 (3.28%) were malnourished. Of them only 22 (0.64%) showed severe malnutrition. This number of malnourished children is testimony to the great achieve-ment by the institution through the actions of its programs, as that is a minimum level compared to the national conditions of mal-nutrition published by the various studies made in this decade. We refer to the docu-ment: Atlas of Hunger and Malnutrition in the Dominican Republic, of the World Food Program (WFP).

In addition, we must point out that of the cases of severe malnutrition reported, 4 of them are HIV+ children. Likewise, 14 of the cases (in the Barahona Region) correspond to families in bateyes or cane cutter colo-nies of the lower Yaque del Sur River region where the highest poverty indices are re-corded.

Agropecuario:1) 2,670 familias aumentaron los volúmenes de alimentos producidos de rubros hortíco-las, viandas y granos.

2) 2,421 familias aumentaron la cantidad de alimentos consumidos en sus hogares. Los resultados de la ejecución de este indicador se refleja en el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las familias beneficiarias del pro-grama.

3) 908 familias valoran la importancia del consumo de hortaliza en su dieta familiar.

4) 3,062 familias que recibieron asistencia técnica para la producción agropecuaria en una proporción mayor en las regiones Monte Plata y Este debido al trabajo del programa de Seguridad Alimentaria que se desarrolla en las mismas con apoyo del CWS y FRB.

Agriculture:1) 2,670 families increased the volumes of foods produced in garden vegetables, tu-bers, and grains.

2) 2,421 families increased the amount of foods consumed in their households. The results of the execution of this indicate are reflected in the improvement of the quality of living of the families beneficiary of the program.3) 908 families evaluated the importance of consuming garden vegetables in their fam-ily diet.

4) 3,062 families who received technical assistance for agricultural production in a larger proportion in the regions of Monte Plata and the East due to the work of the Food Security program developed their with support from CWS and FRB.

Soy líder comunitario de esta comunidad, y puedo decir que este año tuvimos un buen logro. Organizamos y dirigimos el proceso de preparación de terrenos y la siembra de los cultivos. En esto fuimos apoyados por los técnicos del equipo del SSID. La produc-ción en esta comunidad fue buenísima, prin-cipalmente de maíz y auyama. Estamos muy satisfechos con la ayuda para la preparación de terrenos y asistencia téc-nica prestada. En mi caso el costo de la pre-paración de mi parcela fue de $5,000, del cual yo pague 2,000 y el proyecto cubrió 3,000.00. En cuanto a semillas yo tenía la mía guardada, igual que la mayoría de los demás agricultores del proyecto.Pude cosechar buena cantidad de auyama. Vendí un valor de RD$ 30,000, además de la que consumimos en la casa y regalamos a los vecinos y amigos.

I am a community leader in this commu-nity, and can say that this year we achieved a great deal. We organized and directed the process of preparing land and planting crops. In this we were supported by tech-nicians from the SSID team. Production in this community was extremely good, espe-cially with corn and squash.We are very satisfied with the assistance in the preparation of land and technical assis-tance lent. In my case, the cost of preparing my plot of land was $5,000, of which I paid 2,000 and the project covered 3,000.00. Concerning the seeds, I had mine stored away, like the majority of the other farmers of the project.I was able to harvest a large crop of squash. I sold $30,000, besides what we consumed at home, and we gave away to neighbors and friends.

por el SSID hace aproximadamente 15 años y he venido laborando y produciendo maíz, plátano, batata, habichuela y otros cultivos. He venido realizando esos trabajos años tras años utilizando azadón, pico, pala y ras-tillo, y con esos equipos podía realizar una buena labor; pero ahora gracias al SSID y al proyecto de seguridad alimentaria podemos hablar de preparación de tierra de manera eficiente con tractores y haciendo siembra dirigida por técnicos que nos garantiza cose-cha doble y hasta triple en comparación con la cosecha de tiempos anteriores. Por eso le doy las gracias a Dios, al SSID y al proyecto de seguridad alimentaria por haber permiti-do que mi progreso se halla incrementado con esas labores de tal modo que con la cosecha hecha pude realizar cosas como son: la compra de los útiles escolares para mis hijos y compra de medicamentos para resolver problemas de salud. Actualmente estoy realizando una siembra de pimienta, y estoy seguro de que con esta siembra, con la ayuda de Dios, me va a ir muy bien por la gran demanda y estabilidad en el precio.

My plot has 10 tareas. It was donated by SSID about 15 years ago, and I have been working and producing corn, plantains, sweet potatoes, beans, and other crops. I have been doing this work year after year, using a hoe, pick, shovel, and rake, and with this equipment I was able to do good work; but now thanks to SSID and the food se-curity project, we can talk about preparing the land efficiently with tractors and plant-ing directed by technicians that guarantees us a double and even triple crop compared to previous times. For that reason I thank God, I thank SSID, and I thank the food se-curity project for having allowed my prog-ress to increase with that work so that with the crop brought in, I was able to do things like: buy school supplies for my children, and medicine to resolve health problems. At present I am planting peppers, and I am sure that with this planting, with God’s help, I am going to do well because of the high demand and price stability.

Ahora coseche 5 quintales e maíz del que vendí 3 quintales. Consumí en la casa, eché a las gallinas y compartí con la comunidad. Coseché más de 5 sacos de gandules. Vendí en el municipio de consuelo, comimos en la casa y además guardé semillas para la próxima siembra y para el consumo seco.Coseche 6 quintales de auyama, consumí, vendí y compartí con la comunidad.Coseché yuca para el consumo pues yo hago casabe, arepita y empanada para el consumo de mi casa.Fruto de la venta de mis cosechas pude hacer una pequeña reparación a mi casa. Además compré utensilios para el hogar, calzado, ropas para la familia y otros produc-tos alimenticios para complementar la ali-mentación de la familia. Desde que el SSID vino a esta comunidad nos ha beneficiado en un 90% para el de-sarrollo de las familias, especialmente a los niños que mandamos a la escuela, porque con los frutos que cosechamos y vende-mos les compramos zapatos, cuadernos, lá-piz y en muchas ocasiones nos ayudan para ir al medico y comprar los medicamentos, además podemos comprar semillas en caso de que nos falte.El SSID tiene agrónomos y técnicos con-stantemente orientándonos, nos enseñan y asisten con reuniones y charlas sobre el medio ambiente.Además han reparado muchas viviendas, han llevado agua a nuestras casas, nos ayu-dan con la limpieza y con el saneamiento del batey facilitándonos equipos y herramientas para el micro ayuntamiento. Soy beneficiario del programa de segu-ridad alimentaria del SSID. Desde hace 10 años he trabajado preparando el terreno utilizando pico, azada y en algunos casos rastrillos sembrando mi cultivo de esa for-ma y consiguiendo producto de la cosecha realizada. Actualmente tengo una parcela de 8 tareas donadas por vía del SSID. En principio eran como 3 tareas; pero luego fue aumentada. Desde hace dos años, cuando inicio el proyecto de seguridad alimentaria ya pre-paramos la parcela utilizando un tractor. También realizo mi siembra de una mejor manera gracias a las orientaciones de los técnicos del programa. Cuando llego la épo-ca de la cosecha pude notar una diferencia muy grande en la producción comparándola con las cosechas obtenidas anteriormente.Aunque sigo sembrando maíz, yuca, batata, plátano y otros rubros de ciclo corto he de-cidido reducir el área para utilizar la mayor

For the last two years, when the food se-curity project started, we prepare the plot by using a tractor. I also plant better thanks to advice from the program’s technicians. Medio Ambiente:1) 48 comunidades desarrollaron jornadas de siembra de árboles en su entorno y par-celas, especialmente de frutales.

Dentro de su plan de expansión, el SSID ha mantenido una serie de encuentros con líderes y pastores de la Rep. de Haití, en lo que ha denominado “Dialogo dominico/hai-tiano de las iglesias evangélicas”.Este dialogo tiene como objetivo, crear es-pacios de convivencia y apertura entre los diferentes sectores representativos de la Republica de Haití y la Republica Domini-cana, en este sentido hemos podido lograr efectivos encuentros entre lideres de las Iglesias, de los Partidos Políticos, de los congresistas, de los maestros; así como de otros sectores que hoy se pueden reunirse y conversar con debido respeto, sobre temas de interés para ambas naciones.

Within its expansion plan, SSUD has maintained a series of encounters with leaders and pastors from the Republic of Haiti, in what it has called the “Dominico/Haitian dialogue of evangelical churches.”This dialogue is intended to create spaces of harmonious living and opening between the different representative sectors of the Republic of Haiti and the Dominican Re-public; in this sense we have been able to achieve effective encounters between leaders of the Churches, the Political Par-ties, congressmen, and teachers, as well as other sectors who today can meet and talk with due respect on subjects of interest for both nations.

Domini-cana fue saturado por las lluvias producidas por la tormenta Noel, 40 días después volvi-mos a recibir los embates de la tormenta Olga. Muchos fueron los daños ocasiona-dos a un gran número de comunidades de diferentes zonas de nuestro país por los efectos de dichos fenómenos; generando una gran demanda de servicios tanto para

In the last days of the month of October 2007 all of the Dominican Republic was sa- turated by rains from Tropical Storm Noel; 40 days later we again were hit by Tropi-cal Storm Olga. A great deal of damage was caused to many communities in the different regions of our country by the ef-fects of these storms, generating a huge demand for services from the country’s re-lief agencies, the Government, Civil Society

Muchos fueron los da-ños ocasionados a un gran número de co-munidades de diferentes zonas de nuestro país por los efectos de dichos fenómenos; generando una gran demanda de servicios tanto para los organismos de socorro del país, Gobierno, Instituciones de la Sociedad Civil y a Agencias de Cooperación.

Los daños y/o pérdidas de viviendas, enseres y ajuares del hogar y rubros alimenticios, entre otros, revelaban un cuadro desola-dor para las miles de familias damnificadas. Más de 80,000 personas quedaron despro-tegidas. El SSID desarrolló una importante labor, que en su primera fase consistió en labores de rescate y salvamento, en una se-gunda fase y gracias a la buena voluntad de miembros de las iglesias locales, del Go-bierno Dominicano y de Agencias Interna-cionales llegamos con ayuda humanitaria al momento de la crisis.Con la ayuda que recibimos de CWS y de ACT, como respuesta rápida, pudimos brin-dar apoyo a las familias de las zonas afecta-das por dichos fenómenos atmosféricos, mientras canalizábamos donaciones para rehabilitación a través de presentación de propuesta a agencias por vía de Action Church Together (ACT).

The damage to and/or loss of dwellings, household effects, and foodstuffs, among other things, revealed the desolating land-scape for thousands of affected families. More than 80,000 people were left without shelter. SSID did important work, which in the first phase consisted of rescuing and saving, in the second phase and thanks to the goodwill of members of the local churches, the Dominican Government, and International Agencies, we arrived with hu-manitarian aid at the moment of the crisis.

With the assistance we received from WCS and ACT, as rapid response, we were able to offer support to families in the zones affected by these storms, while we chan-neled rehabilitation donations through the presentation of proposals to agencies via Action Church Together (ACT).
