Lord’s Prayer created by Mucha. Published inParis on 20th December 1899 at the passin

of the old century! it "as meant to be

Mucha concei%ed this pro'ect at a turninpoint in his career. (ccordin to his o"n

commercial commissions and "as

&n order to %isualise his %ision! Mucha analysed each of the se%en %erses of the model $hristian

prayer and reconstructed it in a set of three paes. The first pae of each set! in colour! is the

rele%ant %erse in -rench and Latin! framed in a border sumptuously decorated "ith flo"ers and a

symbolic female fiure. The second pae! also in colour! is Mucha’s o"n te3t! interpretin the %erse

and decorated "ith floral patterns. The third monochromatic pae! printed in photora%ure!

contains a full*pae alleorical dra"in illustratin Mucha’s philosophical response to the %erse.

Throuhout the paes! Mucha’s desins feature an abundance of Masonic symbols. The outcome

"as an e34uisite boo# published in an edition of 510 copies.
