Lorca y Cruz de Tejeda, adelanteLas obras de construcción de los Paradores de Lorca enMurcia y el de Cruz de Tejeda en la isla de Gran Canariasiguen los plazos establecidos. El presidente deParadores, Antoni Costa i Costa, visitó las obras de lalocalidad murciana y explicó que los vecinos no tienen que temer nada sobre el aspecto exterior del Parador,ya que los materiales modernos serán recubiertos conpiedras similares a las del antiguo castillo.

Antoni Costa i Costa visited the work ssite in Murcia and told the people of the locality that theyneed not worry in the least about the façade of the Pa r a d o rgiven; that the modern materials would be encased by stonesimilar to that used in the old castle.

During FITUR the president of Paradores deTurismo Antoni Costa i Costa met with theGrupo Cuidades Patrimonio de la Humanidadand the two organisations signed a collabor-ation agreement in order to offer a wider rangeof cultural possibilities to their clients.

El presidente de Paradores de Turismo, Antoni Costa i Costa,presidió el pasado 19 de enero los actos conmemorativos del 50 aniversario del Parador Casa del Barón, en Pontevedra. Entre los asistentes estuvieron el delegadodel Gobierno en Galicia, ManuelAmeijeiras; el alcalde de la ciudad,Miguel Anxo Fernández, y ladelegada de la Consellería deCultura, Comunicación Social y Turismo, Rosana López. El presidente de Paradores destacóla importancia de esteestablecimiento como motor dedinamización turística, y subrayó su importancia como escuela deprofesionales y encuentro de lasociedad gallega. El edificio destacapor la perfección de sus líneasexternas y su interior, unacombinación de mobiliario ilustre y piezas decorativas de gran valor.

Numerosasempresas, agencias de viajes y touroperadoresse acercaron hasta las gigantescas láminasmetálicas que formaban el expositor, paramantener contactos y entrevistas de trabajo.Durante la celebración de FITUR, el presidentede Paradores de Turismo, Antoni Costa i Costa,firmó un convenio de colaboración con elGrupo Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad,para que ambas instituciones realicenpromociones conjuntas. Asimismo, elpresidente mantuvo un encuentro con mediocentenar de alcaldes de municipios conParador, a los que presentó el Plan Estratégicoy pidió colaboración para crear nuevosproductos turísticos y promocionarlos.

Thousands of people visited the Parador standthroughout the five days of the InternationalTourist Fair (FITUR) which was held in Madridfrom the 26th-30th of January. Numerouscompanies, travel agents and tour operatorsapproached the giant metallic display whichhad been put up by the exhibitors, to establishcontacts and carry out work interviews. DuringFITUR the president of Paradores de Turismo,Antoni Costa i Costa, signed a collaborationagreement with the Grupo CuidadesPatrimonio de la Humanidad (World HeritageCities Group) so that both institutions mightwork together in their promotional activities.He also held a meeting with about fifty-some-odd mayors of towns that have a Parador andshowed them the Strategic Plan while askingfor their help and collaboration in developingnew promotional and tourist ideas.

La revista ‘Tr avel & Leisure’ ha elegido al Parador de Granadacomo Mejor Hotel Español, gracias a una encuesta realizadaentre sus lectores, que refleja los 500 mejores establecimientoshoteleros del mundo. En dicha encuesta, sólo figuran seisestablecimientos españoles, ocupando el Parador de Granadael número 46 entre los hoteles europeos. Los lectores han valorado el Parador con un 84,75 sobre 100, teniendo en cuenta aspectos como la ubicación, el serv i c i o , l a si n s t a l a c i o n e s , la decoración o el propio ambiente del hotel.

The international magazine ‘Tr avel and Leisure’ has chosenthe Parador at Granada as the Best Spanish Hotel after as u rv ey conducted among its readers to find the best five-hundred hotel establishments in the world. Only fiveSpanish establishments figure in the surv ey in which theParador at Granada is ranked number fo rty-six amongEuropean hotels. The marks given were 84.75 out of 100taking into account questions such as location, s e rv i c e ,f a c i l i t i e s , decoration and the atmosphere of the hotel.

Events were held in tenParadores to show support to the referendum.Outstanding among them was that which tookplace in the Hostelería del Estudiante in Alcaláde Henares (Madrid). Those who attendedincluded the ex Spanish President FelipeGonzález and the ex-Vice President of theEuropean Commission Loyola de Palacio aswell as a large number of political figures. Theconferences dealt with the themes ‘The futureof the European Union from a constitutionalperspective’ and ‘the implications of theEuropean Constitution for the Tourism sector’.

POR LA DI V ULG ACIÓN DE LA CONST I T UCIÓN EUROPE AParadores de Turismo ha contribuidoactivamente en dar a conocer a todos losespañoles la Constitución Europea, apoyadamayoritariamente por los españoles el pasadodomingo 20 de febrero. En un total de 10Paradores se han realizado actos en apoyo del

referendum, entre los que destacan el celebradoen la Hostería del Estudiante en la localidad deAlcalá de Henares (Madrid). A este encuentroacudieron el ex presidente del Gobierno, FelipeGonzález, y la ex vicepresidente de la ComisiónEuropea, Loyola de Palacio, además de

numerosas personalidades políticas como elpresidente del Senado, Javier Rojo. Lasconferencias giraron en torno a los temas ‘Elfuturo de la Unión Europea desde la perspectivaconstitucional’ y las ‘Implicaciones de laConstitución Europea para el sector Turístico’.

The beer in the mediterranean dietLa cerveza en la dieta mediterránea

Desde el pasado día 20 de enero, Te l evisión Española dedica undocumental de diez minutos a la arquitectura, i n s t a l a c i o n e s , gastronomía y alrededores de un Pa r a d o r, dentro del programa ‘España.es’ que pretendedar un repaso a las costumbres, t r a d i c i o n e s , c u l t u r a , fiestas y gastronomíade todas las regiones españolas. El programa se emite de lunes a viern e sde 11 a 13 horas de la mañana, siendo las 12,30 de los juev e s , cuando seemite el especial de los establecimientos de la Red. Además, todos los días se sortean estancias de una noche o almuerzos en algún Pa r a d o r.

The programme is shownev e ry Thurs d ay between 11am and 1pm and the relevant sectionshowing the Network ’s establishments is at 12:30pm. This wonderfulMonastery is one of the regions landmarkbuildings and is known as The Escorial of Asturias.Built in the 11th century andsituated on the Narcea River,it will be the third Parador inthe region after those ofCangas de Onís and Gijón.
