Mission Statement

We the people of Old Mission Santa Inés, following the path of Jesus Christ, are making His vision a reality through

love, unity, justice, joy and hope.

FROM OUR PASTOR

The scene in the garden of Eden that we hear in today’s first reading is all about BLAME. Ad-am blames Eve, Eve blames the serpent. No one seems ready to accept their role in the rejection of God’s command. But by accepting our part in the fall, we are also able to claim our part in the redemption. If we are united with Adam and Eve in their rejection of God, we are even more strongly able to unite ourselves with Jesus Christ in the act of perfect love,

His passion, death, and resurrection. May the Lord help us to recognize our own need for His grace and salvation. I want to thank again all who helped with our beautiful Corpus Christi procession. Processions are a precious part of our Catholic heritage, and by physically following Jesus in

the blessed Sacrament we also heard His call to follow Him in Spirit and Truth. God bless you all!

OUR HOLY FATHER'S

INTENTIONS FOR JUNE

Universal: Social Networks. That social networks may work towards that inclusiveness which respects others for their differences.

Did you know? Safety trumps good manners. As parents/caregivers, we teach children to say “please” and “thank you,” to play nicely, and to respect other adults. It is also key to stress the importance of safety, and let children know that it is okay to be impolite if they feel threatened or scared. Children should know that it’s okay to say “NO” if someone is asking them to do some-thing they don’t feel comfortable doing, and that setting boundaries by saying things like -- “Don’t touch me there,” or “I don’t like that” -- are not rude, but in fact necessary for their safety. 2018 TOGETHER IN MISSION

Goal = $55,249

Pledges = $45,199

We’ve reached 81% of our goal!

Please consider making a generous pledge to the 2018 Together in Mission appeal.

Together in Mission provides vital support to struggling parishes and Catholic schools within the entire Archdiocese, including many of our neighbors in Santa Barbara County. The T.I.M. fund is 100% restricted; donations cannot be used for anything except this program.

You may use the form mailed to you or the special envelopes in the back of the church. Place in any collection basket. You may also give online at www.ourmissionla.org.

God will reward you for your generosity!

Participating in the good works of Together in Mission is one way that every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles can show their love for their neigh-bor. Our theme for this 25th anniversary year of Together in Mission is “Let Us Love.” The love that Jesus calls us to is more than words and more than feelings. Christian love is a call to action. Jesus calls us to open our hearts and extend a helping hand to those who are most vulnerable and most in need. Thank for your generous support of the Together in Mission campaign. May our Blessed Mother watch over you in her tender love and may our gracious God grant you peace and joy and love.

Most Reverend José H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles

NOTICIAS
