Fundacin Puertorriquea de las Humanidades
San Germn: ciudad de las lomas es un proyecto del Crculo de Recreo de San Germn
auspiciado por la Fundacin Puertorriquea de las Humanidades. El mismo es una gua cultural
arquitectnica que tiene como propsito promover el conocimiento histrico de la ciudad de San
Germn y sus estructuras ms memorables. El libro contiene informacin histrica sobre 45
edificaciones, los arquitectos y diseadores, los dueos originales y los diferentes usos que se le ha dado
a la estructura a travs del tiempo.
Adems, la gua cuenta con un mapa del pueblo donde se enumeran las diferentes edificaciones
dando a conocer la ubicacin de las mismas. Algunas de las estructuras reseadas son: Capilla Porta
Coeli, Casa de los Ponce de Len (conocida actualmente como Casa-Museo Aurelio Ti), Antigua Corte
Municipal y Cuartel de la Polica de San Germn, Plaza Principal de San Germn: Plaza Francisco
Mariano Quionez y el Museo Alfredo Ramrez de Arellano y Rosell. Copia del libro se encuentra
disponible en la Fundacin.

San Germn: City of Hills
San Germn: City of Hills
San Germn: City of Hills is a project of the San Germn Recreation Circle, sponsored by the
Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities. It is a cultural guide to architecture for the purpose of
spreading knowledge of the history of the city of San Germn and its most memorable structures. The
book contains historical information on 45 buildings, the architects and designers, the original owners
and the various purposes the structures have been used for over time.
Additionally, the guide has a map of the town that shows the locations of the various buildings.
Some of the featured structures are: Porta Coeli Chapel, the Ponce de Len House (currently known as
the Aurelio Ti House and Museum), the former San Germn Municipal Court and Police Headquarters,
Plaza Francisco Mariano Quionez, which is the San Germn main plaza, and the Alfredo Ramrez de
Arellano y Rosell Museum. A copy of the book is available at the Endowment.

Esta publicacin, subvencionada por la Fundacin, es una gua que ilustra todos los edificios
participantes en el programa de premios Test of Time del Captulo de Puerto Rico del Instituto Americano de
Arquitectos (1990 al 2009). La gua se dise para que sea informativa y a la vez fcil de llevar en visitas
arquitectnicas. El contenido de la misma se divide en dos secciones: una de obras premiadas y otra de las dems
obras que fueron consideradas que aunque no recibieron premio son meritorias. Contiene informacin sobre 20
estructuras.
Las estructuras estn ordenadas para crear rutas lgicas y se incluye su localizacin mediante latitud y
longitud para su fcil ubicacin mediante los sistemas de localizacin geogrfica en automviles u otros
dispositivos. Tambin se presentan en orden geogrfico de este a oeste, siguiendo las manecillas del reloj, segn
sealado en los mapas que se incluyen. Algunas estructuras mencionadas son: Convento Carmelitas de San Jos
en Trujillo Alto, Casa de las Puntas en Dorado, Condominio Surfside Mansions en Carolina, Tribunal Supremo de
Puerto Rico en San Juan y Museo de Arte de Ponce, en Ponce.

Down where the tradewinds blow
This book, subsidized by the Endowment, is a guide that illustrates the buildings that have been considered for
the Test of Time Award by the Puerto Rico chapter of the American Institute of Architects from 1990 to 2009. The guide
was intended to be both informative and easy to carry along on architectural visits. The guided is divided in two
sections: the awarded projects and the rest of the projects that were consider but were not awarded but are considered
important to include as well. Includes information about 20 structures.
The entries are listed in an order that makes for logical routes and include their coordinates to help casual
wanderers locate them by global positioning systems in cars or other devices. They are also presented in geographical
order clockwise from east to west as shown on the maps included. Some structures mentioned are: San Jos Carmelites
Convent in Trujillo Alto, Casa de la Punta in Dorado, Surfside mansions Condominium in Carolina, Supreme Court of
Puerto Rico in San Juan and Ponce Museum of Art in Ponce.

Comunidad El pasado mes de septiembre de 2014 el Centro Histrico
Turstico del Cibuco en Corozal renov su acuerdo con la
Fundacin Puertorriquea de las Humanidades para
formar parte del Programa de Centros Regionales. Este
programa ayuda a los centros culturales a ofrecer 10
conferencias sobre temas humansticos a las comunidades
a la que sirven. Adems, los centros se benefician con una
muestra representativa de la coleccin de audiovisuales de
la Fundacin para ofrecer en calidad de prstamo al
pblico que atienden y a travs de estos se puede obtener
formularios e informacin general sobre los programas y
recursos que ofrece la Fundacin.
Medios Los cascos urbanos hablan II es un proyecto de Sistema TV
-Canal Universitario del Sistema Ana G. Mndez
auspiciado por la Fundacin Puertorriquea de las
Humanidades, que consiste en la produccin de 10
programas de media hora cada uno sobre el contexto
humanista de los cascos urbanos de varios pueblos de la
Isla. La serie de programas, que es producida por Flavia
Garca y Luzzie Muiz y conducida por la actriz Johanna
Rosaly, muestra diversos aspectos de los antiguos cascos
urbanos e histricos.
Escuela Durante el periodo de julio a diciembre de 2014 se llevaron
a cabo unas 16 conferencias de temas humansticos en
diversas escuelas de la Isla como parte del programa de
conferencias de la Fundacin. Algunos de los temas
discutidos fueron: Trayectoria de los instrumentos
musicales en la historia de Puerto Rico, Juegos infantiles de
Puerto Rico y Folclor y leyendas de Puerto Rico.
Participaron alrededor de 641 estudiantes. Informacin

Community In the month of September, 2014, the Cibuco Historical
Tourism Center in Corozal renewed its agreement with
the Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities to be
part of the Regional Centers Program. This program helps
cultural centers offer 10 lectures on humanities topics to
the communities they serve. Additionally, the centers
benefit by having a representative sample of the
Endowments audiovisual collection to lend to the public,
and the centers also provide forms and general
information on the programs and resources offered by the
Endowment.
Media The Urban Centers Speak II is a project of the Ana G.
Mndez University System TV Channel, sponsored by the
Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities, that
consists of the production of 10 half-hour programs about
the urban cores of eleven towns in Puerto Rico, from a
humanities perspective. The series of programs, produced
by Flavia Garca and Luzzie Muiz and hosted by actress
Johanna Rosaly, reveals various aspects of the old and
historic urban centers.
Schools
School Between July and December of 2014, 16 lectures on
humanities topics were presented at various schools
around the Island as part of the Endowments program of
