Al utilizar aparatos eléctricos se deben acatar un número de precauciones de seguridad básicas, talescomo:

INFORMACIÓN DE SEGURIDAD IMPORTANTELEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES ANTES DE USAR.

• Antes de iniciar su utilización, este frigoríficodebe instalarse y ubicarse correctamente deacuerdo con las Instrucciones de Instalación.También vea la sección Cómo conectar la electri-cidad.

• No permita que los niños se suban o se cuelguende los estantes del frigorífico. Podrían dañarlo yrecibir heridas graves.

• No toque las superficies frías del compartimentodel congelador si tiene las manos húmedas omojadas. Su piel podría quedar adherida a estassuperficies extremadamente frías.

• No almacene o use gasolina u otros vapores o lí-quidos inflamables cerca de este u otros apara-tos eléctricos.

• En los frigoríficos con dispositivos automáticospara hacer hielo, evite cualquier tipo de contactocon las piezas móviles del mecanismo eyector, ocon el elemento de calefacción ubicado en la par-te inferior del dispositivo para hacer hielo. No to-que este último mecanismo mientras el frigoríficoestá enchufado.

• La instalación del dispositivo para hacer hielo

debe realizarla un técnico calificado.

• Mantenga los dedos fuera de las "áreas de pelliz-co"; los espacios entre las puertas y entre laspuertas y el cuerpo del frigorífico son necesaria-mente pequeños. Tenga cuidado al cerrar laspuertas cuando haya niños cerca.

• Desenchufe el frigorífico antes de limpiarlo y dehacer cualquier clase de reparación.NOTA: Ante la necesidad de llevar a cabo algunaclase de reparación, recomendamos enérgica-mente que un técnico calificado sea el encargadode realizarla.

• Antes de reemplazar una bombilla de luz quema-da, el frigorífico debe desenchufarse a fin de evi-tar el contacto con un filamento con corrienteeléctrica. (Una bombilla de luz quemada puederomperse mientras se la reemplaza).

NOTA: Aunque la configuración de los dos con-troles se encuentre en 0 (apagado) todavía hayelectricidad en el circuito de la luz.

• No vuelva a congelar alimentos que se hayandescongelado por completo.

PRECAUCIONES DE SEGURIDAD

¡ADVERTENCIA!Utilice este aparato eléctrico sólo con el objetivo que se describe en este Manual del Usuario.

El riesgo de que los niños queden atrapados den-tro del frigorífico y sufran asfixia no son problemasdel pasado. Los frigoríficos desechados o abando-nados siguen siendo peligrosos aún cuando se losdeje allí "sólo por unos días." Si desea deshacersede su antiguo frigorífico, tenga la amabilidad de se-guir las siguientes instrucciones afín de preveniraccidentes.

ELIMINACIÓN ADECUADA DEL ANTIGUO FRIGORÍFICO

Antes de desechar su antiguo frigorífi-co:• Quite las puertas y deséchelas en forma separa-

da.• Deje los estantes en su lugar para que a los ni-

ños les resulte difícil encerrarse en el frigorífico.

RefrigerantesTodos los aparatos de refrigeración contienen refri-gerantes, los cuales se deben retirar antes de laeliminación del producto de acuerdo con la ley. Siva a desechar algún aparato antiguo de refrigera-ción, consulte con su Ayuntamiento.

• Este electrodoméstico no está diseñado para serutilizado por personas con capacidades físicas,sensoriales o mentales limitadas (niños inclui-dos), o que carezcan de la experiencia y el cono-cimiento necesarios, a menos que estén supervi-sados por una persona encargada de velar porsu seguridad o hayan sido instruidas en la utiliza-ción del electrodoméstico.

• Supervise a los niños para asegurarse de que nojuegan con el aparato.

Si el cable de alimentación sufre algún tipo dedaño, un representante del Servicio de AsistenciaTécnica de FAGOR debe reemplazarlo a fin de evi-tar un riesgo para la seguridad.

Nunca desenchufe el frigorífico tirando del cablede alimentación. Siempre tome con firmeza el en-chufe del frigorífico y retírelo de la toma de corrien-te de la pared.Repare o reemplace inmediatamente todos los ca-bles de alimentación que se hayan desgastado odañado. Nunca utilice un cable que tenga dañospor abrasión en toda su extensión o en los extre-mos del mismo.

Cuando aleje el frigorífico de la pared, asegúresede no aplastar o dañar el cable de alimentación.

Los controles de temperatura.

Los controles de la temperatura vienen preconfigurados de fábrica a 5 para los compartimientos del fri-gorífico y del congelador.

Para ajustar la temperatura, pulse el botón "+" (más caliente) o "-" (más frío) en el lateral del congeladoro del frigorífico. La luz de ajuste se encenderá. Pulse "+" (más caliente) o "-" (más frío) hasta alcanzar elajuste deseado.

Puede que sea necesario hacer varios ajustes. Cada vez que usted que usted ajuste los controles, dejepasar 24 horas desde el ajuste para que el frigorífico alcance el ajuste que usted ha seleccionado.

Ajustar uno o ambos controles en 0 (apagado), detiene la refrigeración tanto en el compartimento del fri-gorífico como en el del congelador, pero no interrumpe el suministro eléctrico del frigorífico.Las configuraciones de los controles pueden variar dependiendo de las preferencias personales,uso y condiciones de funcionamiento, y pueden requerir más de un ajuste.NOTA: El frigorífico se envía con una película de protección que cubre los controles de la temperatura.Si esta película no se retiró durante la instalación, hágalo ahora.

El filtro de agua.

Ponga la parte superior del cartu-cho hacia arriba dentro del sopor-te del cartucho y gírelo lentamen-te hacia la derecha.

Instalar el cartucho del filtroEl cartucho del filtro de agua está ubicado en laesquina superior derecha trasera del compartimen-to del frigorífico.

¿Cuando se debe reemplazar el filtro?En el dispensador hay una luz de indicación de re-cambio del cartucho del filtro del agua. Cuandoesta luz se vuelva anaranjada estará indicandoque el cartucho debe ser reemplazado pronto.

El cartucho del filtro debería reemplazarse cuandola luz indicadora de recambio se vuelva roja o enel caso de que disminuya el flujo de agua al dis-pensador o al dispositivo para hacer hielo.

Extracción del cartucho de filtradoSi va a sustituir el cartucho, en primer lugar extrai-ga el cartucho viejo girándolo hacia la izquierda.No tire del cartucho hacia abajo. Puede que caigaun poco de agua.

Instalar el cartucho del filtro1. Hay un adaptador acoplado a la parte superior

del nuevo cartucho de filtrado.

El adaptador debe extraerse antes de la instala-ción del cartucho. Para extraer el adaptador, gí-relo a la izquierda aproximadamente un cuartode vuelta.

2. Llene el cartucho de recambio con agua del gri-fo para que haya un mejor flujo de agua desdeel dispensador inmediatamente después de lainstalación.

3. Alinee la flecha del cartucho con el soporte delcartucho. Coloque la parte superior del nuevocartucho hacia arriba dentro del soporte. No em-puje el cartucho hacia arriba a dentro del sopor-te.

4. Gire el cartucho lentamente hacia la derechahasta que el cartucho se pare. NO APRETARMUY FUERTE. Mientras está girándolo, éste sealzará por sí mismo en su posición. El cartuchogirará aproximadamente 1/2 de vuelta.

5. Deje correr el agua desde el dispensador duran-te 5 minutos para aclarar el sistema y para pre-venir salpicaduras.

NOTA: Un cartucho del filtro del agua recién insta-lado podría causar pérdida de agua desde dispen-sador.

Tapón de derivación del filtroSe debe usar el tapón de derivación del filtro cuan-do no se dispone de un cartucho de filtro de re-cambio. El dispensador y el dispositivo para hacerhielo no pueden funcionar sin el filtro o sin el tapónde derivación del filtro.

Filtros de recambio:Para pedir cartuchos adicionales, póngase con-tacto con el distribuidor local.

Puertas del frigorífico

La puerta se cierra automática-mente sólo cuando se abre par-cialmente.

Más allá de la posición de topede parada, la puerta permanece-rá abierta.

Puertas del frigoríficoEs posible que Ud. note una diferencia entre elmanejo de las puertas de su antiguo y nuevo frigo-rífico. La característica especial de abertura y cie-rre de las puertas asegura que estas cierren porcompleto y permanezcan selladas firmemente.

Cuando Ud. abra o cierre las puertas, notará unaposición de tope de parada. Si la puerta es abiertamás allá de este punto, permanecerá abierta per-mitiéndole así meter y sacar alimentos del frigorífi-co con más facilidad. La puerta se cierra automáti-camente sólo cuando se abre parcialmente.

La resistencia que Ud. puede notar en la posiciónde tope de parada es menor a medida que la puer-ta es cargada con alimentos.

Recipientes de la puerta del frigorífico y recipientes abatibles de la puerta decongelador

Estantes y recipientes del frigorífico.

No todos los modelos tienen todas las características.

Recipientes grandesLos recipientes de la puerta del frigorífico y los re-cipientes abatibles de la puerta de congelador másgrandes son ajustables.

Para extraerlos: Levante la parte frontal del reci-piente hacia arriba, a continuación levántelo y sá-quelo.

Para reemplazarlos o reubicarlos: Ajuste la partetrasera del recipiente en los soportes moldeadosde la puerta. A continuación, presione hacia abajoen la parte frontal del recipiente. El recipiente seajustará en su sitio.

Recipiente abatible del congela-dor

Recipientes pequeñosPara extraerlos: Levante la parte frontal del reci-piente hacia arriba y sáquelo.

Para reemplazarlos: Sitúe el recipiente por enci-ma de los soportes moldeados rectangulares de lapuerta. A continuación, deslice el recipiente haciaabajo hacia el soporte para que se ajuste en su si-tio.

La tapa deslizante ayuda a prevenir que un golpe-cito haga derramarse algo o que las cosas peque-ñas guardadas en el interior del estante de la puer-ta se caigan o resbalen. Ponga un dedo en cadalado de la tapa deslizante junto a la parte posteriory muévala hacia delante y hacia atrás para que seajuste a sus necesidades.

Estante bebidas en la puerta

Este estante sostiene hasta 5 latas.

Los estantes cuelgan de los lados de la sección deproductos lácteos.

Para remover:1. Vacíe el estante de vino/bebidas.

2. Sosteniendo el fondo de la sección de produc-tos lácteos, levante el frente directamente haciaarriba, entonces levante y extraiga.

3. Para separar el estante de la sección de produc-tos lácteos, extraiga los alambres laterales delestante por los agujeros en cada lado de la sec-ción de productos lácteos.

Para reemplazar:1. Pegue otra vez el estante a los lados de la sec-

ción de productos lácteos.

2. Encaje el lado posterior en los apoyos moldea-dos en la puerta. Luego empuje hacia abajo enel frente de la sección. La sección encajará ensu lugar.

Estante deslizable a prueba de derrames

Presione la lengüeta y tire del es-tante atrás para sacarlo.

El estante deslizable permite alcanzar artículosguardados detrás de otros. Los bordes especialesestán diseñados para ayudar a prevenir derrama-mientos o goteos a los estantes que se encuentranmás abajo.

Para sacarlos:Deslice el estante hacia fuera hasta que llegue altope; a continuación, presione la lengüeta haciaabajo y deslice el estante directamente hacia fue-ra.Para reemplazarlos o reubicarlos:Sitúe el estante a la altura de las guías y deslícelohacia su lugar. El estante puede ser reubicadocuando la puerta esté a 90° o más. Para reubicarel estante, deslice el estante más allá de los topes

y dele un ángulo hacia abajo. Deslice el estantehacia abajo hasta llegar a la posición deseada, co-lóquelo en línea con los soportes y deslícelo en sulugar.

Asegúrese de haber empujado los estantes hastael fondo antes de cerrar la puerta.

Estantes fijos del congelador

Hay dos tipos de estantes fijos del congelador.

Para remover este estilo de estante:

1. Levante el estante del lado izquierdo.

2. Extráigalo.

Para remover este estilo de estante:1. Levante el lado izquierdo del estante y deslícelo

hacia la izquierda en el centro de los estantesde apoyo.

2. Gire el lado derecho del estante hacia arriba yhacia afuera de los estantes de apoyo.

Estantes deslizantes del congeladorPara sacarlos, deslícelos hasta que lleguen a laposición tope, levante la parte posterior hasta so-brepasar la posición tope y deslícelos hacia afue-ra.

Asegúrese de haber empujado los estantes hastael fondo antes de cerrar la puerta.

Cestas del congeladorPara sacarlas, deslícelas hasta que lleguen a laposición tope, levante la parte posterior hasta so-brepasar la posición tope y deslícelas hacia afue-ra.

Asegúrese de haber empujado las cestas hasta elfondo antes de cerrar la puerta.

PRECAUCIÓN: Si las cestas del congelador no seusan, éste podría presentar un funcionamiento de-fectuoso. Guardar artículos en el congelador sinhacer uso de las cestas podría causar un funciona-miento de la temperatura defectuoso debido a lasrestricciones de la corriente de aire dentro delcompartimento del congelador.

Cestas hondas del congeladorPara remover, empuje la cesta totalmente hacia laparte posterior del congelador. Levante hasta quelos pasadores posteriores sean desenganchados.Levante la cesta completa hacia arriba y haciaafuera.PRECAUCIÓN: Si las cestas del congelador no seusan, éste podría presentar un funcionamiento de-fectuoso. Guardar artículos en el congelador sinhacer uso de las cestas podría causar un funciona-miento de la temperatura defectuoso debido a lasrestricciones de la corriente de aire dentro delcompartimento del congelador.

Rendimiento del congelador

Cómo llenar el congeladorLlénelo de forma que quede un espacio libre de, almenos, 15 mm entre los paquetes y 25 mm de es-pacio entre la parte superior de cualquier paquetey el estante o la cesta situado sobre del mismo.Los paquetes pueden colgar por fuera de la parteposterior de los estantes, pero deberán manteneruna distancia de unos 15 mm con las puertas.• Los alimentos a congelar no debe ponerse en

contacto directo con la comida almacenada. Sinecesita congelar productos cada día, puede quesea necesario reducir la cantidad a congelar.

• Si necesita congelar una cantidad elevada de ali-mentos, ajuste el control del congelador a su po-sición máxima. Una vez que el producto hayasido congelado, vuelva a ajustar el control delcongelador a su posición inicial.

• La comida se congela más rápidamente en lostres estantes del centro del compartimento delcongelador, y más lentamente en los estantes dela puerta del congelador.

• No almacene comida rápida congelada durantemás tiempo del recomendado por sus fabrican-tes.

• Si el electrodoméstico se desconectara duranteun período extenso de tiempo o si se produjeraun fallo en el sistema refrigerador, no abra laspuertas a menos que sea absolutamente necesa-rio. Cuando lo haga, ciérrelas enseguida paraque la comida congelada permanezca en dichoestado el mayor tiempo posible.

• Los estantes de las puertas del congelador mar-cados con una etiqueta de dos estrellas sólo de-ben almacenar alimentos previamente congela-dos.

Las bebidas gaseosas no deben guardarse enel congelador.

Como retirar los cajones

Pueden extraerse fácilmente los cajones superio-res y tirando de ellos hasta llegar al punto dondese detienen.Si no puede quitar los cajones a causa de la puer-ta, primero trate de sacar las bandejas de la puer-ta. Si esto no proporciona el espacio necesario, senecesitará hacer rodar el frigorífico hacia adelantehasta que la puerta se abra lo bastante para desli-zar los cajones hasta que puedan retirarse. En al-gunos casos, cuando se hace rodar el frigoríficohacia adelante, se necesitará moverlo hacia la iz-quierda o derecha al mismo tiempo.

Para retirar el cajón:1. Tire del cajón hacia afuera hasta la posición

máxima.

2. Gire los cuatro cierres hasta la posición de aper-tura.

3. Levante el frente del cajón y tire hacia afuera.

Para reinstalar el cajón:1. Asegúrese de que los cuatro cierres están en la

posición de apertura.

2. Coloque los lados del cajón en los apoyos delcajón, cerciorándose de que los cierres ajustanen las ranuras.

3. Bloquee los cierres girándolos hasta la posiciónde bloqueo.

Cajones con humedad ajustable

Deslice el control hasta llegar a la posición (alto) para proporcionar el alto nivel de humedadrecomendado para la mayoría de los vegetales.

Deslice el control hasta llegar a la posición (bajo) para proporcionar el nivel de baja humedadrecomendado para la mayoría de las frutas.

Cajones para frutas y vegetalesEl exceso de agua que pueda acumularse en elfondo de los cajones debe secarse.

En algunos modelos, el cajón de abajo tiene unatapa que se desliza hacia atrás cuando se abre elcajón. Esto permite un acceso completo al mismo.Cuando el cajón se cierra, la tapa se deslizará ha-cia adelante volviendo a su posición original.

Dispositivo automático para hacer hielo.Un frigorífico recién instalado puede tardar de 12 a 24 horas antes de empezar a hacer hielo.

Dispositivo automático para hacer hieloEl dispositivo para hacer hielo producirá siete cubi-tos por ciclo, aproximadamente de 100 a 130 cubi-tos en un ciclo de 24 horas, dependiendo de latemperatura del congelador, de la temperatura am-biente, del número de veces que se abra la puertay de otras condiciones del uso.Para acceder a la máquina de hielo, tire del es-tante situado sobre el cajón del hielo directamentehacia fuera. Asegúrese siempre de volver a colo-car el estante.Si el frigorífico está en funcionamiento antes deque se haga la conexión de agua al dispositivopara hacer hielo, coloque el interruptor de alimen-tación eléctrica en la posición O (apagado).Cuando el frigorífico está conectado al suministrode agua, coloque el interruptor de alimentacióneléctrica en la posición l (encendido).Escuchará un zumbido cada vez que el dispositivopara hacer hielo se llene de agua.El dispositivo para hacer hielo se llenará de aguacuando la temperatura alcance el punto de –10°C.Un frigorífico recién instalado puede necesitar en-tre 12 y 24 horas para empezar a hacer hielo.Deseche las primeras cargas de cubitos de hielopara permitir que la línea de agua se limpie.Asegúrese de que nada impide el movimiento delbrazo detector.Cuando el recipiente está lleno (al nivel del brazodetector), el dispositivo para hacer hielo no produ-cirá más hielo. Es normal que algunos cubitos sal-gan pegados.Si no se usa hielo con frecuencia, los cubitos dehielo viejos se opacan, adquieren un sabor rancioy se contraen.Si los cubitos de hielo bloquean la máquina de hie-los, la luz verde se volverá intermitente. Para co-rregirlo, fije el interruptor de corriente en la posi-ción O (apagado) y retire los cubitos. Fije el inte-rruptor de corriente en l (encendido) para reiniciarla máquina de hielos. Después de que la máquinade hielos se haya encendido de nuevo, habrá unlapso de unos 45 minutos antes de que la máquinade hielos reinicie la operación.

Tire de la parrilla superior delcongelador hacia afuera para ac-ceder al dispositivo de hacer hie-lo. Cerciórese de reemplazarsiempre la parrilla; puede usarsepara almacenamiento.

Cajón de almacenamiento de hieloPara tener acceso al hielo, tire del cajón hacia de-lante.

Para sacarlo: Ponga el interruptor de alimentacióndel dispositivo de hielo en la posición O (apagado).Tire del cajón directamente hacia fuera y luego le-vántelo hasta sobrepasar la posición tope.

Para tener acceso al hielo o al interruptor deencendido:

Para reinstalarlo: Al volver a poner el cajón, ase-gúrese de presionarlo firmemente en su sitio. Si nollega hasta el final, vuelva a sacarlo y gire el meca-nismo accionador 1/4de vuelta. Luego em-puje de nuevo el ca-jón.

NOTA: En casas que tengan una presión de aguamenor de la normal, es posible que usted escuchela máquina repetir el ciclo varias veces cuando seencuentre haciendo hielo.

1. Eleve el compartimiento y empújelo hacia delan-te hasta que se detenga.

2. Incline el compartimento para acceder al hielo oal interruptor de corriente.

NOTA: Para poder aprovechar todas las ventajasdel compartimiento inclinable de hielo, en la ban-deja situada bajo el compartimento del hielo colo-que exclusivamente elementos que no sean másaltos que el punto más bajo del compartimento.

Dispensador de agua y hielos. (en algunos modelos)

Para usar el dispensadorSeleccione CUBED (cubitos), CRUSHED (picado)o WATER (agua).

Presione el vaso suavemente contra la parte supe-rior de la base del dispensador.El recogedor no se vacía solo. Para evitar las res-tos de agua, el recogedor y la parrilla se deberánlimpiar regularmente.

Si no se dispensa agua tras la primera instalacióndel frigorífico, puede que haya aire en el sistemade conductos de agua. Presione el brazo del dis-pensador durante al menos dos minutos para eli-minar el aire atrapado del conducto de agua y lle-ne el sistema de agua. Para eliminar las impurezasdel conducto de agua, tire los primeros seis vasosde agua.

PRECAUCION: No introduzca nunca los dedos niotros objetos en la apertura del dispensador dehielo triturado.

Presione el botón LOCK o LOCKCONTROL (control de bloqueo)durante 3 segundos para cerrar eldispensador y el panel de control.Para desbloquearlo, presione denuevo el mismo botón durante 3 segundos.

El botón LIGHT (LUZ) enciende yapaga la luz de noche del dispen-sador. La luz también se enciendeal presionar la base del dispensa-dor. En algunos modelos, si la bombilla se funde,debe substituirse por una bombilla de 6 Watts y 12Volts, como máximo.

La alarma de puerta suena si cual-quiera de las puertas se mantieneabierta durante más de 3 minutos.La alarma dejará de sonar tras ce-rrar la puerta. En los modelos con LCD, apareceráuna pantalla emergente. La alarma puedesilenciarse tocando la pantalla LCD.

Cuidado y limpieza del frigorífico.

Limpiar el exteriorEl área de goteo del dispensador, por debajo de laparrilla, se debe mantener limpia y seca. El agua quese queda en esta área puede dejar depósitos. Encaso que se hubieran depositado restos, quite losmismos agregando vinagre sin diluir en el cavidad.Remoje hasta que desaparezcan los depósitos o has-ta que se desprendan lo suficiente para removerlos.

El soporte del dispensador. Antes de su limpieza,bloquee el dispensador manteniendo pulsado el botónLOCK (BLOQUEO) o el botón LOCK CONTROLS(BLOQUEO DE CONTROLES) durante 3 segundos.Limpie con una solución de agua tibia y bicarbonatode sodio, una cucharada (15 ml) de bicarbonato desodio en un 1 litro de agua. Enjuague bien y seque launidad.

Las jaladeras de puertas y molduras. Se limpiancon un paño humedecido con una solución de deter-gente suave y agua. Seque con un paño suave.

Los paneles y jaladeras de acero inoxidable (en al-gunos modelos) pueden limpiarse con un producto delimpieza para acero inoxidable disponible en cualquierestablecimiento comercial. La mejor solución es utili-zar un producto de limpieza para acero inoxidable enpulverizador.

No utilice cera ni pulidores sobre el acero inoxidable.

Mantenga limpio el exterior. Limpie con un paño lim-pio ligeramente humedecido con cera para aparatoselectrodomésticos o un detergente suave y agua. Se-que y pula con un paño limpio y suave.

No limpie el frigorífico con un paño sucio ni con unatoalla húmeda. Estos podrían dejar residuos. No useestropajos, limpiadores en polvo, blanqueadores nilimpiadores que contengan blanqueador, ya que estosproductos podrían rayar.

Cuidado y limpieza del frigorífico.

En caso de mudanzaAsegure todos los elementos sueltos como entre-paños y recipientes pegándolos con cinta adhesivaen su lugar para evitar daños.

Al usar una carretilla para mover el frigorífico, nohaga descansar la parte frontal o trasera del frigo-rífico contra la carretilla. Esto podría dañar el frigo-rífico. Manéjelo sólo desde los laterales del frigorí-fico.

Asegúrese de que el frigorífico se coloque en posi-ción vertical durante la mudanza.

Preparación para vacacionesEn el caso de vacaciones o ausencias prolonga-das, retire los alimentos y desenchufe el frigorífico.Limpie el interior con una solución hecha con 15ml de bicarbonato de sodio por litro de agua. Dejeabiertas las puertas.

Parte posterior del frigorífico

Se debe tener cuidado al retirar el frigorífico de lapared.

Tire del frigorífico directamente hacia fuera y em-puje nuevamente para devolverlo a su posición.

Al colocar de nuevo el frigorífico en su sitio, asegú-rese de no pasar sobre el cable de corriente ni so-bre la línea de alimentación del dispositivo parahacer hielos.

Limpieza del interiorPara evitar olores, deje un envase de bicarbonatode sodio abierto en los compartimientos de alimen-tos frescos y del congelador.

Desconecte el frigorífico antes de limpiarlo. Siesto no es posible, exprima el exceso de humedadde la esponja o del paño cuando se limpie alrede-dor de botones, bombillas o controles.

Utilice una solución de agua tibia y bicarbonato desodio, una cucharada (15 ml) de bicarbonato desodio en un 1 litro de agua. Esta solución limpia yneutraliza olores. Enjuague y seque.

El uso de soluciones de limpieza que no sea larecomendada, especialmente aquellas que con-tienen destilados de petróleo pueden agrietar odañar el interior del frigorífico.

Evite limpiar los estantes de cristal fríos con aguacaliente, ya que la diferencia extrema de tempera-turas puede hacer que se rompan. Maneje los es-tantes de cristal con cuidado. Golpear el cristaltemplado puede hacer que se rompa en pedazos.

No lave las partes plásticas del frigorífico en lava-platos.

La bandeja de congelación/descongelación sepuede lavar en lavaplatos.

Coloque el interruptor de alimentación eléctrica deldispositivo para hacer hielos en la posición O (apa-gado) y cierre el suministro de agua que alimentaal frigorífico.

El colocar el control en posición 0 (apagado) no remueve la corriente eléctrica del circuito de la luz.

Reemplazo de bombillas.

Dispensador

1. Desenchufe el frigorífico.

2. La bombilla está situada en el dispensador bajoel panel de control. Quite la bombilla girándolaen sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj.

3. Cambie la bombilla por una bombilla del mismotamaño y potencia.

4. Conecte de nuevo el frigorífico a la corriente.

Compartimiento del congelador1. Desenchufe el frigorífico.

2. Retire el estante situado justo encima de la cu-bierta de luz. En algunos modelos, tendrá queretirarse un tornillo de la parte superior de la cu-bierta de la luz.

3. Para retirar la cubierta, presione en los lados ylevántela hacia arriba y hacia afuera.

4. Reemplace la bombilla con una bombilla paraelectrodomésticos de la misma potencia o infe-rior, y reinstale la cubierta de la luz. Al reinstalarla cubierta de la luz, asegúrese de que las len-güetas superiores hagan clic de forma segura.Coloque de nuevo el tornillo (en algunos mode-los).

5. Reinstale el estante y enchufe el frigorífico denuevo.

Luz superior del compartimento del frigorífico

1. Desenchufe el frigorífico.

Instrucciones de instalación

RODILLOSLos rodillos cumplen 3 funciones:

• Los rodillos se ajustan para hacer que la puerta se cierre confacilidad cuando está abierta aproximadamente a la mitad.(Elevando el frente a una distancia aproximada 16 mm delpiso).

• Los rodillos se ajustan para que el frigorífico quede firme-mente asentado sobre el piso y no se tambalee.

• Los rodillos permiten mover el frigorífico para retirarlo de lapared para su limpieza.

Para ajustar los rodillos:1. Para quitar la parrilla de la base, abra las puertas, retire los

tornillos de cada lado y tire de la misma hacia fuera.

2. Gire el rodillo frontal ajus-tando los tornillos en elsentido de las agujas delreloj para elevar el frigorí-fico y en el sentido con-trario para bajarlo. Useuna llave hexagonal de 3/8", o una llave de tuercasajustable.

3. Estos modelos tienen también rodillos traseros ajustablespara que pueda alinear el frigorífico con sus muebles de co-cina. Use una llave de tubo de 5/16" de mango largo paragirar los tornillos de los rodillos traseros en sentido de lasagujas del reloj para elevar el frigorífico y en el sentido con-trario para bajarlo.

4. Reinstale la base de la rejilla.

ALINEACIÓN DE LAS PUERTAS

Después de nivelar, asegúrese de que la puerta del frigoríficoesté a 1/16" más alta que la puerta del congelador.

Para emparejar las puertas, ajuste la puerta del frigorífico.

1. Usando una llave de tubo de 7/16", gire el tornillo de ajustede la puerta hacia la derecha para elevar la puerta; gírelohacia la izquierda para hacerla descender. (Un tapón denylon está encajado en la rosca de la punta para impedirque ésta gire a menos de que se use una llave.)

2. Después de una o dos vueltas con la llave, abra y cierre lapuerta del frigorífico, y a continuación compruebe la alinea-ción superior de las puertas.Después de instalar el frigorífico es necesario realizar algunos

últimos ajustes para nivelarlo.

Para quitar la parrilla dela base, abra las puertas,retire los tornillos de cadalado de la parrilla y tire dela misma hacia fuera.

1. CONECTE LA TUBERÍA AL FRIGORÍFI-CO

Reinstale la cubierta de acceso.

Coloque la tuerca de compresión y la férula (manga) al ex-tremo del tubo, tal como se indica en la ilustración.

Inserte el extremo de la tubería en la conexión de la válvu-la de agua hasta donde sea posible. Mientras usted sostie-ne el tubo, apriete el ajuste.Apriete la tubería en la abrazadera proporcionada parasostenerla en una posición vertical. Quizás abrir la abraza-dera requiera un pequeño esfuerzo.

CONEXIÓN A LA TOMA DEAGUA


Siga estas recomendaciones cuidadosamente para minimizarel riesgo de costosos daños causados por el agua.El agua que suena como un martillo en las tuberías, puede da-ñar algunas partes del frigorífico y también causar escapes oinundaciones. Llame a un técnico calificado para arreglar losproblemas de fontanería antes de instalar el suministro deagua para el frigorífico.

Si usa el frigorífico antes de que se instale la conexión deagua en el dispositivo para hacer hielo, ponga el interruptor defuncionamiento del mismo, en la posición O (apagado).

No instale el tubo del dispositivo para hacer hielo en sitios endonde la temperatura pudiera descender por debajo del puntode congelación.

Cuando utilice un aparato eléctrico (un taladro por ejemplo)durante la instalación, asegúrese de que dicho aparato esté e-léctricamente aislado o conectado de tal manera que no existapeligro de que se produzcan descargas eléctricas.Todas las instalaciones deben adecuarse a las normas vigen-tes en materia de obras de fontanería.

La instalación del dispositivo automático de hielo debe reali-zarla un técnico calificado.

ANTES DE COMENZAR

3. PONGA EN MARCHA EL DISPOSITIVOPARA HACER HIELO


Ponga el interruptor de corriente del dispositivo para hacerhielo en la posición l. El dispositivo para hacer hielo no en-trará en funcionamiento hasta que haya alcanzado su tem-peratura de funcionamiento de –9°C o inferior. En dichomomento entrará en funcionamiento, si el interruptor decorriente del dispositivo está en la posición l.

NOTA: En el caso en que la presión del agua sea baja, lallave de paso del agua podría tardar hasta tres veces másen llenar de agua suficiente el dispositivo para hacer hielo.

¿Usted escucha lo que yo escucho? Estos sonidos son normales.

Sonidos normales de operación.

Los frigoríficos más nuevos producen sonidos diferentes a los mo-delos más antiguos. Los frigoríficos modernos tienen más funcio-nes y usan tecnología más reciente.

• El nuevo compresor de alta eficiencia puede funcionar más rápi-do y durante más tiempo que el de su frigorífico anterior y puedeescuchar un zumbido de tono alto o un sonido pulsante mientrasopera.

• Puede escuchar un sonido de soplido cuando las puertas se cie-rran. Esto se debe a que la presión se está estabilizando dentrodel frigorífico.

• Puede escuchar los ventiladores moviéndose a gran velocidad.Esto pasa cuando el frigorífico se conecta por primera vez, cuan-do las puertas se abren frecuentemente o cuando se guarda grancantidad de alimentos en los compartimientos del frigorífico o delcongelador. Los ventiladores están ayudando a mantener lastemperaturas correctas.

• Si cualquiera de las puertas permanece abierta por más de 3 mi-nutos, puede escuchar los ventiladores para enfriar los focos deluz.

• Los ventiladores cambian la velocidad para suministrar enfria-miento óptimo y ahorrar energía.

• Puede escuchar sonidos como de crujido o estallidos cuando elfrigorífico se conecta por primera vez. Esto pasa a medida que elfrigorífico se enfría hasta la temperatura correcta.

• Los reguladores electrónicos se abren y se cierran para ofrecerun enfriamiento óptimo y ahorrar energía.

• El compresor puede causar un chasquido o un gorjeo cuando in-tenta volver a arrancar (esto puede tomar hasta 5 minutos).

• El tablero de control electrónico puede causar un sonido de chas-quido cuando se activa el relevador para controlar los componen-tes del frigorífico.

• La expansión y contracción de las bobinas durante o después delciclo de descongelación puede causar sonidos como de crujido oestallidos.

• En modelos con dispositivo para hacer hielo, después de comple-tar un ciclo de hacer hielo, se pueden escuchar los cubos de hie-lo cuando caen a la bandeja de hielos.

• El fluido del refrigerante a través de las bobinas puede producirun sonido de borboteo como de agua hirviendo.

• El agua que cae en el calentador de descongelación puede cau-sar un chisporroteo, estallido o zumbido durante el ciclo de des-congelación.

• Un ruido de agua cayendo se puede escuchar durante el ciclo dedescongelado a medida que el hielo se derrite desde el evapora-dor y fluye hacia la bandeja de drenaje.

• El cierre de las puertas puede producir un sonido de gorgoteo de-bido a la estabilización de la presión.

About the temperature controls.

The temperature controls are preset in the factory at 5 for both the refrigerator and freezer compartments.

To adjust the set point temperature, press the "+" (warmer) or "-" (colder) button on either the Freezer orRefrigerator side. The set point light will come on. Press "+" or "-" until the desired setting is reached.

Several adjustments may be required. Each time you adjust controls, allow 24 hours after each adjust-ment for the refrigerator to reach the setting you have selected.

Setting either or both controls to 0 stops cooling in both the freezer and refrigerator compartments, butdoes not shut off electrical power to the refrigerator.

Control settings will vary based on personal preferences, usage and operating conditions andmay require more than one adjustment.

NOTE: The refrigerator is shipped with protective film covering the temperature controls. If this film wasnot removed during installation, remove it now.

About the refrigerator doors.

When the door is only partiallyopen it will automatically close.

Beyond this stop the door willstay open.

Refrigerator DoorsThe refrigerator doors may feel different than theones you are used to. The special door opening/closing feature makes sure the doors close all theway and are securely sealed.When opening and closing the door you will noticea stop position. If the door is opened past this stoppoint, the door will remain open to allow you toload and unload food more easily. When the dooris only partially open, it will automatically close.

The resistance you feel at the stop position will bereduced as the door is loaded with food.

About the water filter.

Place the top of the cartridge upinside the cartridge holder andslowly turn it to the right.

Filter Bypass PlugYou must use the filter bypass plug when a re-placement filter cartridge is not available. The dis-penser and the icemaker will not operate withoutthe filter or filter bypass plug.

Water Filter CartridgeThe water filter cartridge is located in the back up-per right corner of the refrigerator compartment.

When to Replace the FilterThere is a replacement indicator light for the waterfilter cartridge on the dispenser. This light will turnorange to tell you that you need to replace the filtersoon.

The filter cartridge should be replaced when the re-placement indicator light turns red or if the flow ofwater to the dispenser or icemaker decreases.

Removing the Filter CartridgeIf you are replacing the cartridge, first remove theold one by slowly turning it to the left. Do not pulldown on the cartridge. A small amount of watermay drip down.

Installing the Filter Cartridge1. There is an adapter attached to the top of the

new filter cartridge.

The adapter must be removed before installingthe cartridge. To remove the adapter, turn it tothe left about 1/4 turn.

2. Fill the replacement cartridge with water from thetap to allow for better flow from the dispenser im-mediately after installation.

3. Line up the arrow on the cartridge and the car-tridge holder. Place the top of the new cartridgeup inside the holder. Do not push it up into theholder.

4. Slowly turn it to the right until the filter cartridgestops. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. As you turn thecartridge, it will automatically raise itself into po-sition. The cartridge will rotate about 1/2 turn.

5. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes toclear the system and prevent sputtering.

Replacement Filters: To order additional filter car-tridges, contact your local distributor.

Refrigerator Door Bins and Freezer Door Tilt-Out Bins

About the shelves and bins.

Not all features are on all models.

Large BinsThe larger refrigerator door bins and freezer tilt-outdoor bins are adjustable.

To remove: Lift the front of the bin straight up, thenlift up and out.To replace or relocate: Engage the back side ofthe bin in the molded supports of the door. Thenpush down on the front of the bin. Bin will lock inplace.

Small BinsTo remove: Lift the front of the bin straight up thenout.

To replace: Position the bin above the rectangularmolded supports on the door. Then slide the bindown onto the support to lock it in place.

The snugger helps prevent tipping, spilling or slid-ing of small items stored on the door shelf. Place afinger on either side of the snugger near the rearand move it back and forth to fit your needs.

Freezer tilt-out bin

Door Beverage Rack (on some models)

This rack holds up to 5 cans.

The rack hangs from the sides of the dairy bin.

To remove:1. Empty the wine/beverage rack.

2. Holding the bottom of the dairy bin, lift the frontstraight up, then lift up and out.

3. To detach the rack from the dairy bin, pull therack’s side wires out of the holes on each side ofthe dairy bin.

To replace:1. Reattach the rack to the sides of the bin.

2. Engage the back side of the bin in the moldedsupports on the door. Then push down on thefront of the bin. The bin will lock into place.

Slide-Out Spillproof Shelf

Press tab and pull shelf forwardto remove

The slide-out spillproof shelf allows you to reachitems stored behind others. The special edges aredesigned to help prevent spills from dripping tolower shelves.

To remove:Slide the shelf out until it reaches the stop, thenpress down on the tab and slide the shelf straightout.

To replace or relocate:Line the shelf up with the supports and slide it intoplace. The shelf can be repositioned when the dooris at 90° or more. To reposition the shelf, slide theshelf past the stops and angle downward. Slideshelf down to the desired position, line up with thesupports and slide into place.

Make sure you push the shelves all the way backin before you close the door.

To remove this type of shelf:1. Lift up the left side of the shelf and slide it left

into the center of the shelf supports.2. Rotate the right side of the shelf up and out of

the shelf supports.

Slide-Out Freezer Shelves

To remove, slide out to the stop position, lift thefront past the stop position and slide out.

Make sure you push the shelves all the way back inbefore you close the door.

To remove, slide out to the stop position, lift thefront past the stop position and slide out.

WARNING: Poor performance may occur if freezerbaskets are not used. Storage of items in thefreezer without using baskets may result in poortemperature performance due to restrictions of airflow within the freezer compartment.

To remove, push the basket all the way to the backof the freezer. Lift up until the back pins are disen-gaged. Lift the entire basket up and pull out.

Load so that at least 15 mm of space remains clearbetween stacks of packages and 15 mm to 25 mmof space between the top of any stack and anyshelf or basket above it. Packages may hang overthe front of shelves but must remain 15 mm fromdoors.

• Food to be frozen must not be placed in directcontact with food in storage. If food is to be frozenevery day, it may be necessary to reduce thequantity to be frozen.

• If a quantity of food needs to be frozen, set thefreezer control to its coldest setting. After the foodis frozen, reset the freezer control to its initial po-sition.

• Food is most quickly frozen on the middle threeshelves of the freezer compartment and mostslowly in the freezer door shelves.

• Do not store commercially quick-frozen foodlonger than the time recommended by the foodmanufacturers.

• If the power to the appliance is shut off for an ex-tended time or if the refrigerating system fails, donot open the doors unless absolutely necessary.When it is necessary, close them as quickly aspossible so the frozen food will stay frozen aslong as possible.

• The freezer door storage shelves marked with atwo-star label are only appropriate for the storageof previously frozen food.

Crisper Removal

The top crispers can easily be removed by pullingthe drawer straight out and lifting the drawer upand over the stop location.

If the door prevents you from taking out the draw-ers, first try to remove the door bins. If this doesnot offer enough clearance, the refrigerator willneed to be rolled forward until the door opensenough to slide the drawers out. In some cases,when you roll the refrigerator out, you will need tomove the refrigerator to the left or right as you roll itout.

To remove the bottom crisper:1. Pull the drawer out to the stop position.

2. Rotate all four swing locks to the unlock position.3. Lift the front of the drawer up and out.

To replace the bottom crisper:1. Make sure all four swing locks are in the unlock

position.

2. Place the sides of the drawer into the drawersupports, making sure the swing locks fit on thedrawer slots.

3. Lock all four swing locks by rotating them to thelock position.

Adjustable Humidity Crispers

Slide the control all the way to the (high) settingto provide high humidity recommended for mostvegetables.

Slide the control all the way to the (low) settingto provide lower humidity levels recommended formost fruits.

Fruit and Vegetable Crispers

Excess water that may accumulate in the bottom ofthe drawers should be wiped dry.

On some models the bottom drawer has a coverthat slides back as the drawer is opened. This al-lows full access to the drawer. As the drawer isclosed, the cover will slide forward into its originalposition.

About the automatic icemaker.A newly-installed refrigerator may take 12 to 24 hours to begin making ice.

Automatic IcemakerThe icemaker will produce seven cubes per cycle–approximately 100–130 cubes in a 24-hour period,depending on freezer compartment temperature,room temperature, number of door openings andother use conditions.

To access the icemaker: Pull the shelf above theice drawer straight out. Always be sure to replacethe shelf.

If the refrigerator is operated before the water con-nection is made to the icemaker, set the powerswitch in the O position.

When the refrigerator has been connected to thewater supply, set the power switch to the l position.

You will hear a buzzing sound each time the ice-maker fills with water.

The icemaker will fill with water when it cools to –10°C. A newly-installed refrigerator may take 12 to24 hours to begin making ice cubes.

Throw away the first few batches of ice to allow thewater line to clear.

Be sure nothing interferes with the sweep of thefeeler arm.

When the bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, theicemaker will stop producing ice. It is normal forseveral cubes to be joined together. If ice is notused frequently, old ice cubes will become cloudy,taste stale and shrink.

If ice cubes get stuck in the icemaker, the greenpower light will blink. To correct this, set the powerswitch to O and remove the cubes. Set the powerswitch to I to restart the icemaker. After the ice-maker has been turned on again, there will be adelay of about 45 minutes before the icemaker re-sumes operation.

NOTE: In homes with lower-than-average waterpressure, you may hear the icemaker cycle mul-tiple times when making one batch of ice.

Pull the upper freezer shelfstraight out to access the ice-maker. Always be sure to replacethe shelf. The shelf can be usedfor storage.

To access ice or reach the power switch:

To access ice, pull the drawer forward.

To remove:Set the icemaker power switch to the O (off) posi-tion. Pull the drawer straight out and then lift pastthe stop position.

To replace:When replacing the drawer, be sure to press itfirmly into place. If it does not go all the way back,remove it and rotate the drive mechanism 1/4 turn.Then push the drawer back again.

1. Lift the bin, then pull it forward until the binstops.

2. Lower the bin to access ice or reach the powerswitch.

NOTE: In order to take full advantage of the tilt-outice bin, only store items on the shelf below the icebin that are no taller than the lowest point on thebin.

About the ice and water dispenser. (on some models)

To Use the DispenserSelect CUBED, CRUSHED or WATER.

Press the glass gently against the top of the dis-penser cradle.The spill shelf is not self-draining. To reduce waterspotting, the shelf and its grille should be cleanedregularly.

If no water is dispensed when the refrigerator isfirst installed, there may be air in the water line sys-tem. Press the dispenser arm for at least two min-utes to remove trapped air from the water line andto fill the water system. To flush out impurities inthe water line, throw away the first six glassfuls ofwater.

CAUTION: Never put fingers or any other objectsinto the ice crusher discharge opening.

Press the LOCK or LOCK CON-TROLS pad for 3 seconds to lockthe dispenser and control panel. Tounlock, press and hold the padagain for 3 seconds.

The LIGHT pad turns the nightlight in the dispenser on and off.The light also comes on when thedispenser cradle is pressed. Onsome models, if this light burns out, it should be re-placed with a 6 watt 12 V maximum bulb.

Use Door Alarm to sound if eitherdoor is open for more than 3 min-utes. The alarm will stop once thedoor is closed. For LCD models, apopup screen will appear. The alarm can be si-lenced by touching the LCD screen.

Care and cleaning of the refrigerator.

Dispenser drip area.

Cleaning the OutsideThe dispenser drip area, beneath the grille,should be wiped dry. Water left in this area mayleave deposits. Remove the deposits by adding un-diluted vinegar to the well. Soak until the depositsdisappear or become loose enough to rinse away.

The dispenser cradle. Before cleaning, lock thedispenser by pressing and holding the LOCK orLOCK CONTROLS pad for 3 seconds. Clean withwarm water and baking soda solution—about atablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 li-ter) of water. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.

The door handles and trim. Clean with a clothdampened with soapy water. Dry with a soft cloth.The stainless steel panels and door handles (on

some models), can be cleaned with a commerciallyavailable stainless steel cleaner. A spray-on stain-less steel cleaner works best.

Do not use appliance wax or polish on the stainlesssteel.

Keep the outside clean. Wipe with a clean clothlightly dampened with kitchen appliance wax ormild liquid dish detergent. Dry and polish with aclean, soft cloth.Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled dish clothor wet towel. These may leave a residue that canerode the paint. Do not use scouring pads, pow-dered cleaners, bleach or cleaners containingbleach because these products can scratch andweaken the paint finish.

Preparing to Move

Secure all loose items such as shelves and draw-ers by taping them securely in place to preventdamage.

When using a hand truck to move the refrigerator,do not rest the front or back of the refrigeratoragainst the hand truck. This could damage the re-frigerator. Handle only from the sides of the refrig-erator.

Be sure the refrigerator stays in an upright positionduring moving.

Preparing for Vacation

For long vacations or absences, remove food andunplug the refrigerator. Clean the interior with abaking soda solution of 15 ml of baking soda to 1liter of water. Leave the doors open.Set the icemaker power switch to the O positionand shut off the water supply to the refrigerator.

If the temperature can drop below freezing, have aqualified servicer drain the water supply system toprevent serious property damage due to flooding.

Behind the Refrigerator

Be careful when moving the refrigerator away fromthe wall.Pull the refrigerator straight out and return it to po-sition by pushing it straight in.

When pushing the refrigerator back, make sureyou don’t roll over the power cord or icemaker sup-ply line.

To help prevent odors, leave an open box of bak-ing soda in the fresh food and freezer compart-ments.

Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. If this isnot practical, wring excess moisture out of spongeor cloth when cleaning around switches, lights orcontrols.Use warm water and baking soda solution— abouta tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 li-ter) of water. This both cleans and neutralizesodors. Rinse and wipe dry.

Use of any cleaning solution other than that whichis recommended, especially those that contain pe-troleum distillates, can crack or damage the interiorof the refrigerator.

Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot waterbecause the extreme temperature difference maycause them to break. Handle glass shelves care-fully. Bumping tempered glass can cause it to shat-ter.

Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts in thedishwasher.The chill/thaw tray is dishwasher safe.

Replacing the light bulbs.

Dispenser

1. Unplug the refrigerator.

2. The bulb is located on the dispenser under thecontrol panel. Remove the light bulb by turning itcounterclockwise.

3. Replace the bulb with a bulb of the same sizeand wattage.

4. Plug the refrigerator back in.

Freezer Compartment1. Unplug the refrigerator.

2. Remove the shelf just above the light shield.(The shelf will be easier to remove if it is emptiedfirst.) On some models, a screw at the top of thelight shield will need to be removed.

3. To remove the light shield, press in on the sides,and lift up and out.

4. Replace the bulb with an appliance bulb of thesame or lower wattage, and reinstall the lightshield. When reinstalling the light shield, makesure the top tabs snap securely into place. Re-place the screw (on some models).

5. Reinstall the shelf and plug the refrigerator backin.

Refrigerator Compartment—Upper Light

1. Unplug the refrigerator.

2. The bulbs are located at the top of the compart-ment, inside the light shield. On some models, ascrew at the front of the light shield will have tobe removed. On other models, the screw is lo-cated in the pocket located at the back of thelight shield.

3. To remove the light shield, on some models,press in on the tabs on the sides of the shieldand slide forward and out. On other models, justslide the shield forward and out.

Your light shield will look like oneof the following:

4. After replacing the bulb with an appliance bulb ofthe same or lower wattage, replace the lightshield and screws (on some models). When re-placing the light shield, make sure that the tabsat the back of the shield fit into the slots at theback of the light shield housing.

REFRIGERATOR LOCATION• Do not install the refrigerator where the temperature will go

below 16°C because it will not run often enough to maintainproper temperatures.

• Install it on a floor strong enough to support it fully loaded.

WATER SUPPLY TO THE ICEMAKER(ON SOME MODELS)If the refrigerator has an icemaker, it will have to be connectedto a cold water line. Installation Instructions

ROLLERSThe rollers have 3 purposes:

• Rollers adjust so the door closes easily when opened abouthalfway. [Raise the front about 5/8" (16 mm) from the floor.]

• Rollers adjust so the refrigerator is firmly positioned on thefloor and does not wobble.

• Rollers allow you to move the refrigerator away from the wallfor cleaning.

Final leveling adjustments should be made after the refrigera-tor has been installed.

To adjust the rollers:

1. Remove the base grille by opening the doors, removing thescrews at each end, and pulling it straight out.

2. Turn the front roller adjust-ing screws clockwise toraise the refrigerator, coun-terclockwise to lower it.Use a 3/8" hex socket orwrench, or an adjustablewrench.

3. These models also haverear adjustable rollers soyou can align the refrigera-tor with your kitchen cabinets. Use a long-handled 5/16"socket wrench to turn the screws for the rear rollers–clock-wise to raise the refrigerator, counterclockwise to lower it.

4. Replace the base grille.

DOOR ALIGNMENT

After leveling, make sure that the refrigerator door is 1/16"higher than the freezer door.

To align the doors, adjust the refrigerator door.

1. Using a 7/16" socket wrench, turn the door adjusting screwto the right to raise the door, to the left to lower it. (A nylonplug, imbedded in the threads of the pin, prevents the pinfrom turning unless a wrench is used.)

2. After one or two turns of the wrench, open and close the re-frigerator door and check the alignment at the top of thedoors.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Follow these recommendations carefully to minimize the risk ofexpensive water damage.

Water hammer (water banging in the pipes) in house plumbingcan cause damage to refrigerator parts and lead to water leak-age or flooding. Call a qualified plumber to correct water ham-mer before installing the water supply line to the refrigerator.

If you use your refrigerator before connecting the water line,make sure the icemaker power switch is in the O (off) position.

Do not install the icemaker tubing in areas where temperaturesfall below freezing.

When using any electrical device (such as a power drill) duringinstallation, be sure the device is insulated or wired in a man-ner to prevent the hazard of electric shock.

All installations must be in accordance with local plumb-ing code requirements.

Installation of the icemaker must be done by a qualifiedservice technician.

WARNING! Connect to potable water sup-ply only.

1. CONNECT THE TUBING TO THEREFRIGERATOR

NOTES:• Before making the connection to the refrigerator, be sure the

refrigerator power cord is not plugged into the wall outlet.

• We recommend installing a water filter if your water supplyhas sand or particles that could clog the screen of therefrigerator’s water valve. Install it in the water line near therefrigerator.

1. CONNECT THE TUBING TO THE RE-FRIGERATOR (CONT.)

Some models have the refrigerator connection at the endof tubing located outside the compressor compartment ac-cess cover. On other models, the compressor compartmentaccess cover must be removed in order to access the re-frigerator connection at the water valve.

Reattach the access cover.

Place the compression nut and ferrule (sleeve) onto theend of the tubing as shown.

Insert the end of the tubing into the water valve connectionas far as possible. While holding the tubing, tighten the fit-ting.

Fasten the tubing into the clamp provided to hold it in avertical position. You may need to pry open the clamp.

One of the illustrations below will look like the connec-tion on your icemaker.

On models using the refrig-eration connection at thewater valve, remove theplastic flexible cap.

2. TURN THE WATER ON AND PLUG INTHE REFRIGERATOR

Arrange the coil of tubing so that it does not vibrate againstthe back of the refrigerator or against the wall. Push the re-frigerator back to the wall.

3. START THE ICEMAKERSet the icemaker power switch to the l position. The ice-maker will not begin to operate until it reaches its operatingtemperature of –9°C or below. It will then begin operationautomatically if the icemaker power switch is in the l posi-tion.

NOTE: In lower water pressure conditions, the water valvemay turn on up to 3 times to deliver enough water to theicemaker.

Do you hear what I hear? These sounds are normal.

Normal operating sounds.

Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modernrefrigerators have more features and use newer technology.

• The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longerthan your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum orpulsating sound while it is operating.

• You may hear a whooshing sound when the doors close. This isdue to pressure equalizing within the refrigerator.

• You may hear the fans spinning at high speeds. This happenswhen the refrigerator is first plugged in, when the doors areopened frequently or when a large amount of food is added to therefrigerator or freezer compartments. The fans are helping tomaintain the correct temperatures.

• If either door is open for over 3 minutes, you may hear the fanscome on in order to cool the light bulbs.

• The fans change speeds in order to provide optimal cooling andenergy savings.

• You may hear cracking or popping sounds when the refrigerator isfirst plugged in. This happens as the refrigerator cools to the cor-rect temperature.

• Electronic dampers click open and closed to provide optimal cool-ing and energy savings.

• The compressor may cause a clicking or chirping sound when at-tempting to restart (this could take up to 5 minutes).

• The electronic control board may cause a clicking sound when re-lays activate to control refrigerator components.

• Expansion and contraction of cooling coils during and after defrostcan cause a cracking or popping sound.

• On models with an icemaker, after an icemaking cycle, you mayhear the ice cubes dropping into the ice bucket.

• The flow of refrigerant through the freezer cooling coils may makea gurgling noise like boiling water.

• Water dropping on the defrost heater can cause a sizzling, pop-ping or buzzing sound during the defrost cycle.

• A water dripping noise may occur during the defrost cycle as icemelts from the evaporator and flows into the drain pan.

• Closing the door may cause a gurgling sound due to pressureequalization.
