Todo empieza en 1962 cuando cinco jóvenes españoles atraviesan África de sur a norte en tres meses sobre tres prototipos Montesa de 175 cc y un Land Rover de apoyo. Aquella expedición, bautizada como Operación Impala, da nombre al que será el modelo más famoso de la marca catalana, y el mayor éxito comercial y deportivo de la industria motociclista nacional. Han transcurrido más de 30 años desde que dejó de fabricarse y hoy día aún siguen viéndose bastantes ejemplares en circulación –sobre todo por Barcelona-, y es que la Impala se ha convertido en una pieza de culto para no pocos motoristas, aficionados a las clásicas y amantes del diseño. Estamos hablando de una moto que sobrepasa su condición de medio de transporte para devenir, en cierto modo, un fenómeno sociológico.

Fifty years ago, five young bikers crossed Africa from south to north, riding three prototypes of a humble 2-stroke motorcycle that through time would become a motorcycle myth: the Montesa Impala. This is the story of their adventure, and the portrait of an age, an industry and a generation, through the amazing success of a well-conceived machine.

(Català) Tot comença el 1962 quan cinc joves catalans es llençen a travessar Àfrica de sud a nord en tres mesos sobre tres prototips Montesa de 1775 cc i un Land Rover de recolzament. Aquella expedició, anomenada Operació Impala, dóna nom al que serà el model més famós de la marca d'Esplugues, i un dels gran èxits comercials i esportius de la indústria motociclista catalana i espanyola. Han passat més de 30 anys des que va deixar de fabricar-se i avui en dia encara se'n veuen circulant -sobretot per Barcelona-; és ben clar que la Impala ha esdevingut una peça de culte entre motoristes, aficionats a les clàssiques i amants del disseny. Estem parlant d'una moto que depassa la seva condició de medi de transport per convertir-se, d'alguna manera, en fenomen sociològic.

En un montaje paralelo, en este documental de creación recorremos varias zonas de París en 2012, las mismas en las que se desarrolló la llamada ´Batalla de París´ en 1944, en la que los ciudadanos tomaron las armas contra los invasores alemanes en unas escenas de gran crudeza que ocurrieron apenas 68 años en el pasado. Se usa a París como metáfora de la ciudad como testigo del horror, de cómo de la noche a la mañana las calles pueden ser tomadas por la violencia, a poco que las condiciones de vida, libertad y dignidad de las personas se degraden. "París 1944- 2012 Color of Time" es una advertencia y una sugerencia: no olvidemos por lo que nuestros antepasados lucharon. No cometamos los mismos errores de nuevo.

In parallel scenes, this documentary shows us various quarters of Paris in 2012, along with the same from 1944's so-called “Battle of Paris,” in which the city's citizens took up arms against the German occupiers in some brutal episodes occurring only 68 years ago. Paris is used as a metaphor of city as witness to the horror of how, over night, the streets can be taken by violence in short order when the conditions of life, liberty and dignity have been so seriously degraded. "Paris 1944- 2012 Color of Time" is both a warning and a suggestion: we should not forget what our ancestors fought for. We should never repeat the mistakes of the past.
