Caviar of youthThe skin’s degenerative process is caused by free

radicals, molecules or atoms that lose an electron thus making the cell become unproductive and forming a chain-reaction of these same radicals. There was no prod-uct on the market that would help to repair these effects on the cells until the properties of caviar were studied.

Caviar is extracted from special fish such as sturgeon and after many scientific studies, it was discovered that it had phospholipids which are the main elements in the membrane and phosphoproteins that contain collagen

and elastin. When these components are applied to the skin, aging

is stopped and stem

cells are regenerated. Caviar contains essential minerals and vitamins A and D which allow cutaneous tissue to be regenerated and revitalized. Therefore, it makes an ideal anti-aging treatment possible with the effect of an immediate shock. In other words, the patient can see the results the same day as the procedure is done.

According to Claudia Gonzalez, a physiotherapist, the caviar mask is a technique that unites the hydrating and smoothing efficacy of caviar extract with proteins and aminoacids. It is a type of material that is placed on strategic points on the face. After that, it is moistened with a small ampule of caviar which becomes a gel that is gently spread over the surface of the skin. Later a device is used to ionize it and thus allow the product to be absorbed. It is left there for 25 minutes and can be applied once a week to see quick results.

In order to carry out this procedure, a deep facial

cleansing should be done with a cream and a small ampule of cav-iar so that the gel ad-equately penetrates the pores. This treat-ment is suggested for people who are 30 years of age and over and guarantees

the regeneration of the skin cells and gives them a youthful aspect. It has also

been proven that caviar helps cell tissue to recover. That is why it can be used on people who have suf-

fered burns Gonzalez said.As a complement, a night cream that is based on

caviar is applied. It is used on mature skin and on the skin of those who are constantly exposed to the sun.

The skin that is the most susceptible to aging is that of whites. That is why people with light-colored skin, both men and women of advanced ages with skin that is very withered and dehydrated, are the ones who use this treatment the most. Applying the treatment to oily skin is not recommended since adequate absorption is not achieved and this may cause acne.

The abdominal wall is almost totally made up of soft tissue such as the muscles (straight and transverse of the abdomen) and their lining membrane (anterior and posterior), ligaments, fatty tissue and skin that protect the

abdominal contents (small and large intestine, stomach, bladder, etc.)

There are specific points where these areas tend to be weaker whether due to congenital or acquired defects. In addition, the abdominal cavity is intermittently exposed to significant increases in intra-abdominal pressure associated

with normal functions such as evacuation of the intestine or the cough reflex.

Therefore, if there is a serious weakness at some site on the abdominal wall and other conditions that constantly increase the intra-abdominal pressure are also present, they will cause hernias to appear in the abdominal wall. These conditions include such cases as people with a chronic cough, those who lift weights or those who suffer from acute constipation.

A hernia appears when part of an organ (generally the small intestine) pushes through a weak point or through an opening in the muscle wall that keeps the abdominal organs in their place.

It is defined as the exit of part of the abdominal contents with the membrane (peritoneum) through one of these defects (openings) each time the person makes a physical effort that increases pressure.

Types of hernias in the abdominal wall:There are hernias that are named for the place where

they appear. The most frequent ones are:Inguinal hernia: This appears as a bulge in the groin or

scrotum. It is more common in men than in women.Femoral hernia: This appears in the upper part of the

thigh and is common in women.Umbilical hernia: This is a bulge around the navel and it

occurs when this muscle does not completely close.Surgical hernia: This may be a result of a scar when

the person has had abdominal surgery done. It occurs frequently among the newborn.

Epigastric hernia: This one goes through at the mid-line (white line) between the navel and the sternum.

Causes, incidence and risk factorsThere is usually no apparent cause for a hernia to oc-

cur although it is sometimes associated with lifting heavy objects or one of the previously mentioned reasons.

Hernias may be seen in babies and children and may occur when the membrane around the organs in the abdomen does not close appropriately before birth. Ap-proximately 5 out of 100 children get inguinal hernias and they are more frequent in boys than in girls. Some of them may be asymptomatic until they become adults.

There are factors that increase the risk of getting a hernia in the abdominal wall:

* A family history of hernias* Cystic fibrosis* Cryptorchism (incomplete descent of the testicle)* Overweight* Chronic cough* Acute constipation* Enlarging of the prostate and the effort to urinate

SymptomsAt the beginning and generally, abdominal hernias are

asymptomatic and appear as swellings or masses that the

o hacer cualquier esfuerzo.

patient may notice on occasion. Over time these masses may grow.

In other forms they appear as large masses or small ones that are painful mainly when there is an increase in intra-abdominal pressure such as upon bending over or lifting something heavy.

The bulge or mass in the area may not be evident when the patient is lying down.

ExamsA doctor can confirm the presence of a hernia during a

physical examination. The mass may increase in size with a cough, when the person crouches or bends over, lifts something or makes any effort. It is possible that a hernia in babies or children will not be visible except when they cry or cough. The physical examination of an adult patient should be done while he is standing.

ComplicationsThe majority of the hernias can be put back into the

abdominal cavity (reducing the hernia). Nevertheless, they will occur again the moment intra-abdominal pres-sure increases.

If they cannot be put back through the abdominal wall, they are called incarcerated hernias and if the process con-tinues, this can compromise the blood flow through the intestinal segment. This will put the viability of the intestinal segment at risk which means that it could die. This is called a strangulated hernia and requires immediate surgery.

Treatment With the exception of umbilical hernias in newborns,

one should wait a while depending on the size because the great majority spontaneously close within the first 24 months. The treatment for all hernias in the abdominal wall is surgical and the right moment for this surgery is when the patient is not suffering from any complica-tion.

The objective of surgical treatment is to relocate the loop of the herniated intestine and reinforce the weak points in the abdomen.

Currently, the ideal technique for correcting hernial de-fects, especially those located in the inguinal and femoral regions and the ones that are the side effect of previous surgery (eventration) is the technique called “tension-free.” A mesh which is fixed internally to close off the hernial defect is utilized for this. With the “tension-free techniques,” post-operative pain is lessened and the rate of reappearance diminishes significantly.

Depending on the type of hernia, the correction can be done through open surgery or the laparoscopic technique.

Incarcerated and strangulated hernias are surgical emergencies since they endanger the patient’s life. That is why surgical correction of a hernia should be done when the person is diagnosed for the first time and time should not be allowed to go by.

This discipline goes beyond relaxation since it encom-passes themes as complex as the psychological field and intervenes positively in the health of people who have some disease.

The therapy based on colors is a technique that com-bines the curative properties of light with the aromas and other very traditional elements from Tibet that are used for meditation such as Tibetan bowls.

The place where color therapy is done should be a place that is insulated from noise, where the person feels comfortable and separated from the earthly world. It is rec-ommended that the people wear white clothing and that they take off their shoes and anything else that makes them feel heavy. At the same time the consulting room should be furnished with carpeting and a central rug. There the Tibetan bowls should be placed on both sides of the rug and some aromatic fragrances to stimulate the senses. The ceiling is decorated with colored, hanging candles and a soft light is used.

Once the room is ready for the color therapy session, the patient is asked to lay down on the central carpet where

a box with small, colored light bulbs is placed. The colors penetrate the chacras of the person and liberate him from pain and stress. After that, a blinking light on the ceiling that has the four colors–blue, green, red, and yellow–is turned on. This is aimed directly at the face of the person who is lying on the floor with his eyes closed.

Lilia Gonzalez, manager of the Oasis International Holistic Spa Center, says that this relaxation technique is very effective for combating the diseases that upset good physical functioning. It makes the vibration of the colors resonate with the vibration of the bioenergetic field, or in other words, with the aura thus exercising an unconscious physical, psychological and emotional influence. This allows our living energy to carry out a self-healing process.

The ailments that can be treated with color therapy go from a change in the emotional state, when it helps the person become calm or generate positive thinking, to the regulation of anomalies such as blood pressure and other problems in the functioning of the organism and bone structure.

According to Gonzalez, a professional cosmiatrist, a

session can last between 30 minutes and two hours since she brings about a psychological discharge in the patients so that they freely express all of their fears, sorrows and negative aspects of the environment that surrounds them. That is why, in some cases, the people show considerable melancholy during the process and at the end can see life more positively and transform their weaknesses into strengths, both physically and spiritually, depending on the lack each individual has.

The use of colors in the prevention and treatment of diseases is based on the fact that the senses have a strong influence on the mind thus making human beings perme-able based on the information they receive. Each color corresponds to a function. Therefore, it can harmonize by itself but when combined they achieve better effects. Their properties are the following: Red: this stimulates blood circulation and the spiritual aspect.

Orange: this combats fatigue and encourages optimismYellow: this is energetic. That is why it improves muscle tone and mental clarity.Green: this is a tranquilizer and sedative thus ideal for problems of insomnia and nerves. Blue: this is a refreshing color with antiseptic properties. It gives peace and tranquility.Violet: this is used to fight states of anguish or fear.Purple: this has hypnotic properties.Magenta: this increases arterial tension and eliminates sadness.

Albert Einstein

Quantum physics explained and brought to light concepts that were always lived but not well-known. The thousand-year-old traditional Chinese medicine and oriental Hindu practices with their systemic, holistic and unifying vision of man, consciousness and the universe

were a pathway that was always open but only reached us by way of authors such as Karl Pribam, David Bohm,

Fritjof Capra, Rupert Sheldrake, etc. They, one way or another, put Western science together with Oriental philosophy and were able to verify the convergence of the most ancient thinking of humanity with the various scientific areas and thus prepare the way for the concept of the universe as a cosmic mind, a universal holographic memory in which our con-

science is an integral part.Since the Renaissance, the Western

scientific concept of the dual Cartesian-Newtonian paradigm has been estab-lished. This divided man into body and mind and his function in the universe, an immense mechanism, correspond-ed to atomic/molecular interactions. On the other side there is the applica-tion of Oriental philosophy and its holis-tic method of interpreting reality which considers perception, meditation and altered states of consciousness as the foundation for one to be in commu-nion with the universe which comes

about through channels of energy (meridians/nadis, chacras).

Just as man lives in a com-munity, the cells are also a com-

munity. Society creates norms for the human race to operate

well and it is the communi-cation of information that generates the evolutionary

cycle of that society as a whole. At the level of the body, the limbic system is that which provides the ability to capture and coordinate the flow of behavior-regulating signals within the cellular community. In both cases, the reflexes of that behavior are passed on to the new generations in the form of genetic instinct.

In conclusion, a new reflex or behavior is a product of new conditioning or a new possibility.

This has repercussions on man’s general transformation–from his knowledge that alters his conduct to his cells that are going to adapt to the environmental consequences that are linked to the changes. This is what we are experiencing in this 21st century. The industrial era with the technological advances that intruded upon the nutritional area through the use of mechanisms that adulterated the natural cycle of the ecosystem pertaining to crops and livestock and the use of petroleum derivatives (diesel, naphtha, shampoo, creams for domestic use, etc.). The combustion of its derivatives for automotive vehicles re-creates a synapse perimeter through which we are passing with the attendant consequences at the cell level. These same advances have also brought with them the inclusion of electromagnetic radiation elements (microwaves, cell phones and apparatus for medical diag-nosis) which, on one hand, make everyone’s lives easier but, on the other, represent environmental changes which we have to get used to. And while this is happening, we have to subject ourselves to the immediate consequences that appear in the form of stress, with chronic fatigue and the springing up of new and old varieties of health problems.

Thus there is an energy that supra-regulates and cap-tures those transformations that work with the evolution of the species. It is a universal consciousness that we have as constituent and interrelated parts of the universe since the whole universe is reflected in each individual part of it.

In conclusion, we have proved that quantum physics succeeded in penetrating the Western and Oriental mod-els in a complementary vision. It included and broadened the vision of man, life, consciousness and the universe in a dynamic and self-organized unit. Thus it facilitated our posi-tion in this whole and delegated to us the responsibility of creating our life and that of the society in which we live by using our free will, our various abilities in favor of healthy evolution reminding us that in another state of conscious-ness and knowledge we can mold it just as we have been molding it up to now. (Alicia Helena de Queiroz, expert in neural-linguistic programming, hypnosis and the NES system which is based on quantum physics and energy concepts in Oriental medicine.)

Mankind’s essential energy“A human being is a part of a whole, called by us uni-verse a part limited in time and space. He experiences

himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of

his consciousness”. Albert Einstein

The main field of action for this speciality is in second and third level hospitals and clinics. These are centers where all of the specialists are found and which maintain the highest standards of quality specially when dealing with complex procedures.

Like other specialities, maxillofacial surgery has benefitted from the development of technology by incorporating tech-niques such as installing dental implants, distraction (which makes it possible to make facial bones grow), the use of laser technology and injections of botulin toxin (Botox) for the treatment of painful lesions or spasms in the face.

This type of surgery also deals with problems that cause sleeplessness which come from morphological changes in the maxillary bones.

How to know if your doctor is a specialist? Each patient should make sure to get good care from an

experienced specialist who is apt and well trained whether the surgical proce-

dure, depending on its complexity, is done under local or general

anesthesia. The doctor has a high level of responsibility because of the anatomical structures that are threatened. Therefore, a true

professional should be the one to do the job in order to avoid pos-

sible complications for the patient and to be certain that his treatment

will have a happy ending and be to his complete satisfaction.
