Aislamiento Británico:El imperio británico basaba su política en una simple premisa: para que Gran Bretaña tuviera la supremacía en Europa debía controlar el comercio marítimo con la mayor y mejor flota de guerra posible, a este domino en el mar debía sumarse una política exterior destinada a fomentar la división entre las potencias terrestres del continente.

KeynesEl economista británico John Maynard Keynes argumentó en 1936 que había muchas razones por las que los mecanismos de auto-corrección que la mayoría apoyaba durante una recesión podían no funcionar en la práctica. En su "Teoría General del Empleo, Interés y Dinero", Keynes introdujo conceptos que estaban destinados a explicar la Gran Depresión.
