At the end of the course, the student should describe the PC interna' components, assemble an informatics system, instan the operating system and troubleshoot a PC. The students could connect a PC to internet and share resources. 2. COURSE DESCRIPTION

PC Software and Hardware course cover fundamental and advanced concepts related to software and hardware. At the end of the course, the student should describe the PC interna' components, assemble an informatics system, instan the operating system and troubleshoot a PC. VI. Fundamental Laptops and Portable Devices (2 sessions — 5 hours) • Compare and contrast desktop and laptop components • Explain how to configure laptops • Select laptop components

VII. Fundamental Printers and Scanners (2 sessions — 5 hours) • Identify and apply common preventive maintenance techniques for printers and scanners • Install and configure a local printer and scanner • Describe how to share a printer and a scanner on a network • Upgrade and configure printers and scanners • Troubleshoot printers and scanners

VIII. Introduction to the Networks (3 sessions — 7.5 hours) • Explain the principies of networking • Explain OSI and TCP/IP data models • Design a network based on the customer's needs • Determine the components for your customer's network • Implement the customer's network • Upgrade the customer's network • Troubleshoot the network

IX. Fundamental Security of Information (2 sessions — 5 hours) • Explain why security is important • Outline security requirements based on customer needs • Select security components based on customer needs • Implement customer's security policy • Perform preventive maintenance on security • Troubleshoot security

X. Communication Skills (2 sessions — 5 hours) • Explain the relationship between communication and troubieshooting • Describe good communication skills and professional behavior • Explain ethics and legal aspects of working with computer technology

XI. Advanced Personal Computers (4 sessions — 10 hours) • Give an overview of field, remote, and bench technician jobs • Explain safe lab procedures and tool use • Describe situations requiring replacement of computer components • Upgrade and configure personal computer components and peripherals • Identify and appiy common preventive maintenance techniques for personal computer components • Troubleshoot computer components

7. WORKLOAD: THEORY/PRACTICE

Sessions per week: two (2) Hours per session: two (2) hours and thirty minutes

This course contributes in the design area of an Electrical Engineer formation, specifically in the design strategies for PC assembiy and system installation
