    About Bluetooth

    Frequency band This system uses the 2.4 GHz frequency band.

    Troubleshooting

    Before requesting service, make the following checks. If youare in doubt about some of the check points, or if thesolutions indicated do not solve the problem, consult yourdealer for instructions.

    Common problemsThe unit does not work.

    The safety devicehas been activated. Dothe following:1. Press [1]on themainunittoswitchtheunitto standby

    mode.If theunitdoesnotswitchtostandbymode,

    Pressandholdthe buttonfora minimumof 10seconds.

    Or, DisconnecttheAC powersupplycord and thenconnectitagain.

    2. Press [1]again to switch on the unit. Iftheproblempersists, consultyour dealer.

    The display panel lights up and changes continuously instandby mode. Press andhold [8]on themainunittoselectDEMOOFF.

    No operations can be done with the remote control. Examinethatthe battery is installedcorrectly.

    Sound isdistorted orno sound. Adjustthevolume ofthe system. Switchoff thesystem,determine andcorrectthe cause,and

    thenswitchonagain.Itcanbecausedbystrainingofthespeakers through excessivevolumeor power, andwhen usingthe systemin ahot environment.

    A humming sound canbe heard during playback. An ACpower supply cordor fluorescentlightis near the

    cables.Keepother appliancesandcords awayfrom thecablesof thissystem.

    The sound level reduces. The protectioncircuithas beenactivateddueto the

    continuoususeat high volumeoutput.Thisistoprotectthesystemand maintainthesound quality.

    DiscDisplay notshown correctly.Playback doesnot start. You havenotputinthedisccorrectly.Putitincorrectly. Disc isdirty. Cleanthe disc. Replacethedisc ifit is scratched, warped, or non-standard. Thereiscondensation.Letthesystemdryfor1 to2 hours.

    The total number of tracks displayed is incorrect.The disc cannot be read.Distorted sound is heard.

    You putinadiscthatthesystemcannotplay.Changetoaplayabledisc.

    Remote control code

    When other Panasonic equipment responds to the remotecontrol of this system, change the remote control code forthis system.

    PreparationPress [CD/RADIO/AUX] to select AUX1 or AUX 2.

    To set the code to REMOTE 2

    1 Press and hold [CD/RADIO/AUX] on the main unitand [2] on the remote control until REMOTE2 isshown.

    2 Press and hold [OK] and [2] f or a minimum of4seconds.

    To set the code to REMOTE 1

    1 Press and hold [CD/RADIO/AUX] on the main unitand [1] on the remote control until REMOTE1 isshown.

    2 Press and hold [OK] and [1] f or a minimum of4seconds.

    System memory reset

    Reset the memory when the following situations occur: There is no response when buttons are pressed. You want to clear and reset the memory contents.

    1 Disconnect the AC power supply cord.

    2 While you press and hold [1] on the main unit,connect the AC power supply cord again.Continue to press and hold the button until is shown.

    3 Release [1].

    All the settings are set back to the factory preset.It is necessary to set the memory items again.

    Note on disc This system can play CD-R/RW with CD-DA or MP3

    format content. Before playback, finalize the disc on the device it was

    recorded on. Some CD-R/RW cannot be played because of the

    condition of the recording.

    Note on USB device This system does not guarantee connection with all USB

    devices. This system supports USB 2.0 full speed. This system can support USB devices of up to 32 GB. Only FAT 12/16/32 file system is supported.

    Note on MP3 file Files are defined as tracks and folders are defined as

    albums. Tracks must have the extension .mp3 or .MP3. Tracks will not necessarily be played in the order you

    recorded them. Some files can fail to work because of the sector size.

    MP3 file on disc This system can access up to:

    255 albums (including root folder) 999 tracks 20 sessions

    Disc must conform to ISO9660 level 1 or 2 (except forextended formats).

    MP3 file on USB device This system can access up to:

    800 albums (including root folder) 8000 tracks 999 tracks in one album

    Preparing the remote control

    Use alkaline or manganese battery.

    Install the battery so that the poles (+ and ) align with thosein the remote control.

    Placement of speakers

    SC-AKX800

    Front speakersPut the speakers so that the tweeter is on the outside.

    SubwooferPut on the floor or a sturdy shelf to reduce vibration.

    SC-AKX600

    Put the speakers so that the tweeter is on the outside.

    SC-AKX400

    The left and right speakers are the same.You cannot remove the net of the speakers.

    Use only the supplied speakers.You can cause damage to the system and decrease thesound quality if you use other speakers.

    Note:

    Keepyourspeakersmorethan 10mmfrom themainunitforventilation.

    Putthe speakers on aflatsafe surface. Thesespeakersdonothavemagneticshielding.Donotput

    themnearTVs,PCsorotherequipmenteasilyinfluencedbymagnetism.

    Whenyou playathighlevelsfora longperiod,itcancausedamagetothespeakersanddecreasethelifeofthespeakers.

    Decreasethevolume inthese conditionstoprevent damage: Whenthe soundis distorted. Whenyou adjustthesound quality.

    Maintenance

    To clean this system, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this

    system. Before using chemically treated cloth, read the

    instructions that came with the cloth carefully.

    Making the connections

    Connect the AC power supply cord only after all theother connections have been made.

    1 Connect the AM loop antenna.Stand the antenna up on its base until it clicks.

    2 Connect the FM indoor antenna.Put the antenna where reception is best.

    3 Connect the speakers.Connect the speaker cables to the terminals of the samecolor.SC-AKX400

    4 Connect the AC power supply cord.

    Do not use an AC power supply cord from otherequipment.

    Conserving powerThe system consumes a small amount of power evenwhen it is in standby mode. Disconnect the powersupply if you do not use the system.Some settings will be lost after you disconnect thesystem. You have to set them again.

    CAUTION! Use the speakers only with the recommended

    system. If not, you can cause damage to theamplifier and speakers and can cause a fire. Consultan approved service personnel if damage occurs orif there is a sudden apparent change in performance.

    Do the procedures included in these instructionswhen you attach the speakers.

    Do not touch the speaker cones reverberatingsurfaces: This may damage the speaker cone. The speaker cone may be hot.

    Memory presetting

    You can preset up to 30 FM and 15 AM stations.

    Automatic presetting

    The tuner presets all the stations it can receive into thechannels in ascending order.To cancel, press [8].

    Manual presetting

    1 Press [3] or [5] (main unit: [2/3] or[5/6]) to tune in to the station.

    2 Press [OK].PGM is shown.

    3 Press the numeric buttons to select a preset number.Do steps 1 through 3 again to preset more stations.The new station replaces any station that occupies thesame preset number.

    1 Press [CD/RADIO/AUX] to select FM or AM.

    2 Press and hold [CD/RADIO/AUX].

    After a few seconds, the display panel shows the currentminimum radio frequency. Release the button when theminimum frequency changes. To go back to the initial setting, do the above steps again. Preset frequencies are erased after you change the

    setting.

    Recording

    This system can record up to 800 folders (maximum 999tracks in an album) or a total of 8000 tracks, depending on

    the available storage capacity of the internal memory or theUSB device in USBB .

    To check storage space

    In the stop mode, press [DISPLAY]. UPDATE is shown when the system is reading the

    device. NODEVICE is shown if there is no USB device

    connected to USBB .

    Sleep timer

    The sleep timer switches off the system after the set time.

    Press [SLEEP] to select the setting (in minutes).SLEEP is shown.To cancel, select OFF.

    You can set the timer to come on at a certain time to: Wake you up (play timer). Record from the radio (record timer).Play timer and record timer cannot be used together.

    PreparationSet the clock.

    1 Press [SETUP] to select TIMERADJ.

    2 Press [Y, U] to select #PLAY or #REC and thenpress [OK].

    3 Press [Y, U] to set the start time and then press [OK].

    4 Do step 3 again to set the end time.

    5 Press [Y, U] to select the s ource you want to play orrecord and then press [OK].

    6 For record timer, press [Y, U] to select MEMORY orUSBB to keep the recording and then press [OK].

    To start the timer

    1 Prepare the source.

    2 Press [SETUP] to select TIMERSET.

    The system must be switched off for the timer tooperate.

    Preparation Disconnect the AC power supply cord. Switch off all equipment and read the appropriate

    operating instructions.

    Using the auxiliary input

    You can connect a VCR, DVD player etc. and listen to theaudio through this system.

    1 Connect the external equipment.

    2 Press [CD/RADIO/AUX] to select AUX1.

    3 Play the external equipment.

    Ifyou wantto connectequipmentotherthan thosedescribed,refer tothe audiodealer.

    Connecting a portable audio equipment

    You can play music from a portable audio equipment.

    Preparation Switch off the equalizer (if any) of the portable audio

    equipment to prevent sound distortion. Decrease the volume of the system and the portable

    audio equipment before you connect or disconnect theportable audio equipment.

    1 Connect the portable audio equipment.Plug type: 3.5 mm stereo

    2 Press [CD/RADIO/AUX] to select AUX2.

    3 Play the portable audio equipment.

    To adjust the input level

    1 Press [PLAYMENU] to select INPUTLEVEL.

    2 Press [Y, U] to select NORMAL or HIGH and thenpress [OK].

    Note:

    Youcannot adjusttheinput levelduring recording. SelectNORMALif thesound isdistortedduring HIGH

    Auto off

    This system automatically switches off when you do not useit for approximately 20 minutes.

    1 Press [SETUP] to select AUTOOFF.

    2 Press [Y, U] to select ON and then press [OK].AUTOOFF is shown.

    This function does notwork when you arein radio sourceorwhen aBluetoothdeviceisconnected.

    This function automatically switches on the system whenyou establish a Bluetooth connection from a paired device.

    Record timer Connect the USB device to USBB (forUSB recording) and tune in to the radiostation.
