1 Security instructionsPlease read the security instructions, provided in a separated manual, carefully. Make sure that the given environmental conditions, mounting and installation prerequisites are met. This manual should be kept at a safe place and in reach of the installation.

1.1 Symbols

!The exclamation mark warns about possible danger for persons or possible damage of the device.

iThe information symbol gives general hints and informs about handling and procedures for use of the device.

1.2 Instructions

!Connect data and use switches for the devices only when the device is powered down!

�Before maintenance, appropriate measures must be taken to protect the respective components against damage caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD protection).

iIf security instructions are missing, please contact OSRAM to re-ceive a new copy.

2 General remarks

2.1 Transport

Only transport the devices in their original packaging. This protects the device from damage. Only unpack the at its installation location. To protect the device against condensation water, unpack it and wait until all moisture remaining in the device has evaporated. Condensation can occur when the device is moved from a cold to a warm location.

2.2 Unpacking and delivery content

Unpack the devices and inspect all parts for completeness regarding chapter „2.2 Unpacking and delivery content“. Keep the packaging for use in case of further trans-port. If there is apparent damage to the device or parts are missing from the delivery scope, please contact our Support service. Contact data will follow on the next page.

2.3 Warranty regulations

Depending on the product, guaranty regulations are of different duration. The war-ranty time is usually noted in the quote and in the order confirmation. See the chapter “Terms and Conditions” in the OSRAM website for details. Legal warranty regulations apply in any case.

2.4 Disposal

The proper disposal of packing materials and of the device is the responsibility of the respective user and for his account; in all other matters, the retrieval obligation for packing materials and the device is subject to the statutory regulations.

iBatteries and technical appliances must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but should be handed in at the appropriate col-lection and disposal points.

2.5 Maintenance and Repair

This device requires no maintenance.

!Do not try to repair the device, if it is defective or apparently de-fective. Return it to your distributor for replacement or repair.

3 General device descriptione:cue SYMPL Core S is a stand-alone engine for e:cue SYMPHOLIGHT with SYMPL Nodes as interfaces. It executes SYMPHOLIGHT shows in small to medium-sized shows and controls all available SYMPL Nodes. As a user interface it utilizes the Action Pad of SYMPHOLIGHT with all usual web browsers. The connection between Core S, external systems and the Nodes is a standard Ethernet network. Shows can be downloaded to the Core S from a SYMPHOLIGHT server or uploaded from a USB memory stick.

4 Installation SYMPL Cores are designed to mount onto a 35mm DIN rail (standard EN 50022, BS 5584) in a vertical position. It is clipped in to the rail from top. Gentle pressure is then applied to the top front to snap it in place.

4.1 Installation conditions

5 Ethernet connectionThe pin-assignment of the Ethernet port corresponds to RJ45 standards. You can use every common Ethernet component, like cable, splitters and switches.

iNever connect more than one SYMPL Core S in factory state to a network. The identical IP addresses will conflict and disturb proper communication.

iThe Ethernet ports of the SYMPLs are not designed for inter-building connections with power and lighting transients. Use only intra-building networks to connect the SYMPL Nodes and Cores.

6 Power supply

ie:cue SYMPL Cores are not suited for powering over a DC power supply network. Use a dedicated power supply in the control cabinet for supplying 24 V DC to the SYMPL Core.

7 Functions and featuresThe e:cue SYMPL Core S Node executes SYMPHOLIGHT shows with the Action Pad of SYMPHOLIGHT as user interface.

7.3 User interface

The SYMPL Core S has four LEDs and an Identify button. The four LEDs show the basic states of the SYMPL Core S.

Power Device is in operation

Identify button

A short press during operation in online mode sends an Identify message to the server. This helps to assign the Node in the Layout in SYMPHOLIGHT.

7.4 Configuration

The configuration of the e:cue SYMPL Core S Node is done via e:cue SYMPHO-LIGHT or over the configuration web interface of the Core S. For configuration with SYMPHOLIGHT see the SYMPHOLIGHT System Manual for details on configura-tion.

11 Allgemeine Hinweise

11.1 Transport

Transportieren Sie das Gerät nur in seiner originalen Verpackung, um Schäden zu vermeiden. Entpacken Sie das Gerät nur am Installationsort.

Um Schäden bei Wechsel von Kälte zu Wärme durch Kondensationswasser zu ver-hindern, warten Sie nach dem Auspacken, bis das Gerät die Temperatur am Instal-lationsort angenommen hat.

11.2 Entpacken und Lieferumfang

Entpacken Sie das Gerät und überprüfen Sie die Vollständigkeit des Lieferumfanges nach Kapitel „16.1 Lieferumfang“ Bewahren Sie die Verpackung für einen späteren Transport auf. Sollten Komponenten beschädigt sein oder fehlen, wenden Sie sich an Ihren OSRAM-Service.

11.3 Garantiebestimmungen

Abhängig vom Produkt können Garantie und Gewährleistung zeitlich unterschiedlich befristet sein. Die Garantie- und Gewährleistungs-Bestimmungen finden sich in der Regel im Angebot und in der Auftragsbestätigung. 12 Allgemeine BeschreibungDer e:cue SYMPL Core S ist eine eigenständige Engine für e:cue SYMPHOLIGHT mit SYMPL Nodes als Schnittstellen. Er führt SYMPHOLIGHT-Shows in kleinen bis mittleren Projekten aus und steuert alle verfügbaren SYMPL Nodes. Als Schnittstelle für den Bediener dient das Action Pad in SYMPHOLIGHT über alle gängigen Web-Browser. Die Verbindung zwischen Core S, externen Systemen und den Nodes er-folgt über eine übliche Ethernet-Verbindung. Shows können entweder von einem SYMPHOLIGHT-Server oder über einen USB-Stick in den Core S geladen werden.

13 Installation SYMPL Cores werden auf einer 35 mm-DIN-Hutschiene vertikal montiert (Stan-dard EN 50022, BS 5584). Hängen Sie das Gerät oben in die Hutschiene ein. Danach drücken Sie leicht auf das Ge-häuse, so dass die untere Verriegelung auf der Hutschiene einrastet.

14 Ethernet-VerbindungDie Anschlussbelegung der Ethernet-Ports entsprechen den Standards für RJ45. Alle üblichen Ethernet-Komponenten wie Kabel, Switches oder Splitter können ge-nutzt werden.

iVerbinden Sie nie zwei e:cue SYMPL Nodes im Auslieferungs-zustand mit dem Netzwerk. Die identischen IP-Adressen stören die Verbindung im Netzwerk.

iDie Ethernet-Ports der SYMPL sind nicht für Netzwerken zwisch-en Gebäuden mit Spannungs- und Beleuchtungs-Transienten ausgelegt. Nutzen Sie für die Verbindung zwischen SYMPL Nodes und Cores nur ein Netzwerk innerhalb eines Gebäudes.

15 Stromversorgung

ie:cue SYMPL Cores sind nicht für den Betrieb über ein Versor-gungsnetz geeignet. Verwenden Sie ein separates Netzteil im Schaltschrank für die 24 V-Gleichspannungsversorgung.

Power Anzeige des Betriebszustandes

Kurzes Betätigen des Identify-Tasters im Online-Zustand schickt eine Identify-Nach-richt an einen SYMPHOLIGHT-Server. Damit kann der Core S im Layout zugeordnet werden.
