    1. Getting started. IDEA What if my students dont come up with an idea? Suggest them the following:- Take a newspaper and choose some curious news.- Use the yellowpages: there are plenty of

    interesting things to write about.

    - Open a random page of any novel. Choose anysentence and start your film from it.

    - Tell them to write a story about the character theylike the less/most in the latest film theyve seen.

    1. Getting started. SINOPSIS

    It is a summary of the entire project. It must include:- the characters: who is in the film?- the action: what happens? When? How? Why?- the end: how does it end? It is not the brief summary of the film in the back

    of the DVD, nor the blurb in a book.

    Extension: half a page or one page.

    possible for each character, including:

    - What are their names?

    - How are they dressed?

    - How do they look like?

    - How do they talk?

    - How do they get along with each other?- Do they have a catch-phrase or somethingcharacteristic?

    LOCATIONS Where are we going to film? Is important to

    know:

    - Do we have permission to film there?- If outside, can the weather be a problem?- If inside, is there room for everyone?

    Always remember to check the locationsbefore going there to shoot.

    2. Script (guin literario) It contains the DIALOGS and ACTIONS that will

    happen in the film.

    It contains DESCRIPTIONS in order tounderstand what will be seen in the screen.

    EXT. MANHATTAN STREET-DAYA pretty Manhattan street with sidewalk trees,brownstones, a school; people mill about, some strollingand carrying bundles, others buried. The screen shows

    the whole length of the sidewalk, a street, and part ofthe sidewalk beyond. As the following scene ensues,two pedestrians, indistinguishable in the distance, comecloser and closer toward the camera, recognizable,finally, as Alvy and his best friend, Rob, deep inconversation. They eventually move past the cameraand off screen. Traffic noise is heard in the background.

    ALVYI distinctly heard it. He muttered under

    his breath, "Jew."ROB

    You're crazy!

    It must be written in present tense.

    The language must be simple and straight. ONLY

    descriptions and dialogues. It does not include technical explanations like

    types of shots, camera movements or lighting.

    It is divided in scenes and secuences.

    Usually 1 page = 1 minute.

    It is not compulsory to draw a storyboard.

    It must contains just the drawings of the

    key shots. It is helpful to explain complex shots.
