CURRICULUM (Breve reseña del CV) Dr Najat Maalla M’jid (Morocco) served as UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution
and Child Pornography between May 2008 and June 2014.
Since 2015, she is chairing the high-level task force to end child sexual exploitation in travel and tourism.
Dr Najat Maalla M’jid is a medical doctor in paediatrics and has been engaged for the past three decades
in the protection of vulnerable children. She works also as lecturer in Moroccan and international universities
on child rights protection, promotion, programming and monitoring, as well as social and development
policies.
Dr Maalla M'jid has notably been involved in the training of social workers, law enforcement agencies in
many countries, and in the drafting of studies on child victims of sexual violence, abuse and exploitation,

children living in the street, institutionalised/ detained children, unaccompanied migrant children, children
workers, children deprived of parental care, etc.
Dr Najat Maalla M’jid works also as Expert-Consultant in the development and monitoring of national
policies on the protection of the child in her native country of Morocco, as well as in Africa, Latin America,
Europe, Asia and MENA countries.
Dr Najat Maalla M’jid is a member the Moroccan National Council on Human Rights, and the founder and
Vice-Chair of the non-governmental organisation BAYTI, the pioneer programme addressing the situation of
children living and working in the streets in Morocco. She is the Chair of the International Bureau of
Children’s Rights (Montréal-Canada). Board member of Child Helpline International and the African Child
Policy Forum (Addis Ababa-Ethiopia).
In addition, Dr Najat Maalla M’jid has won several national and international awards for her strong
commitment to protecting the rights of the child.
