Forma afirmativa
Subject + Verb in present simple + Complement
I work in a hospital.
You work in a school.
He works everyday.
She works in Veracruz.
It works in a market.
We work on Mondays.
You work on weekends.
They work in the afternoons.
he, she,it, el verbo se conjuga con terminación - s.
go - goes
swim - swims
Forma negativa
subject + auxiliary + in negative form
verb in simple + form complement
I do not play soccer
YOU do not play basketball
HE does not play videogames
19
SHE does not play volleyball
IT does not play hide and seek
WE do not play with yoyos
YOU do not play with my friends
THEY do not play in the park
I don’t like cats. (No me gustan los gatos)
Tina doesn’t watch the news. (Tina no ver las noticias)
We do not buy in Oxxo. (Nosotros no compramos en Oxxo)
Forma interrogativa
Yes / No questions

go shopping on Fridays ?
Does he she it
go to school on weekends ?
Does we you they
go to the gym everyday ?
20
Respuestas cortas

he she it

A: Do you play videogames every day?
B: Yes, I do
A: Does your sister play with you?
B: No, she doesn’t.

Affirmative: Subject + can + verb + complement (Sujeto + can + verbo + complemento) Ejemplo: She can play soccer (Ella puede jugar soccer)
2. Si es una negación.
Negative: Subject + can’t/cannot + verb + complement (Sujeto + can’t/cannot + verbo + complemento) Ejemplo: He can’t run a marathon (Él no puede correr un maratón)
3. Si realizamos una pregunta.
Interrogative: Can + subject + verb + complement (Can + sujeto + verbo + complemento) Ejemplo: Can we all compete this year? (¿Podemos todos competir este año?)
36
Como se mencionó anteriormente, podemos usar can y can’t para expresar lo siguiente:
▪ Posibilidad e imposibilidad
Ejemplo:
It can be very hot here in summer (Puede hacer mucho calor aquí en verano) = It is
sometimes very hot here in summer (A veces hace calor en verano)
Ejemplo:
That can’t be real (Eso no puede ser real)
You cannot hide (No te puedes esconder)
▪ Habilidad
Se utiliza can y can’t para hablar de las destrezas y habilidades de alguien.
Ejemplo:
She can dance all kinds of music (Ella puede bailar todo tipo de música)
He can’t play the piano very well (Él no pueden tocar el piano muy bien)
▪ Permiso
Can también se usa para pedir permiso.
Ejemplo:
Can I make a wish? (¿Puedo pedir un deseo?)
Can we go shopping? (¿Podemos ir de compras?)
▪ Hacer una solicitud
Usamos can para solicitar algo de manera informal.
Ejemplo:
Can you take me to the park? (¿Me puedes llevar al parque?)
37
▪ Hacer un ofrecimiento
Can también se usa para hacer ofrecimientos.
Ejemplo:
Can I call you tonight?

ordines directas, sugerencias, o consejos.
A continuación, te muestro algunos ejemplos.

Go ahead - Seguir Adelante
Be careful - Ten cuidado
Turn left - Da Vuelta a la izquierda
Sit down - Toma asiento

ratones, pie-pies, diente-dientes)
Ejemplos:
There is an apple (hay una manzana)
There are four apples (hay cuatro manzanas)
I see a man
I see four men
Sustantivos incontables
singular.
Ejemplos:
There is some milk in the fridge. (Hay algo de leche en el refrigerador)
There isn’t any coffee. (No hay café)
60
https://www.pinterest.de/pin/394346511117607335/
61
Cuantificadores: How much/ how many
incontables debemos utilizar las preguntas “how much”. (¿Cuánto?) si los sustantivos son
incontables y “how many” (¿Cuántos?) si son contables.
Ejemplos:
How many carrots do you need? (¿Cuántas zanahorias necesitas?)
How many boxes of cereal? (¿Cuántas cajas de cereal?)
How much honey do you want? (¿Cuánta miel quieres?)
How much milk is there?
incontables.
Quantifier Countable Uncountable
All All the potatoes are in the bag (Todas las papas están en la bolsa)
Where is all the sugar?
(¿En dónde está toda la azúcar?)
Some I want some candies please.
(Quiero algunos dulces por favor)
Do you want some tea?
(¿Quieres algo de té?)
A lot of /Lots of There are a lot of cookies in the jar
(Hay muchas galletas en el frasco)
There is a lot of cheese in the refrigerator
(Hay mucho queso en el refrigerador)
Enough There are enough tomatoes
(Hay suficientes jitomates)
There isn’t enough flour
(No hay suficiente harina)
No There are no hotdogs left
(Ya no hay hotdogs)
There is no mustard in the store
(Ya no hay mostaza en la tienda)
Any Are there any cherries for the pie?
(¿Hay algunas cerezas para el pay?)
Is there any butter for the pancakes?
(¿Hay algo de mantequilla para los hotcakes?)
62
Do you have any bananas? (¿Tienes algunos plátanos?).
I don’t have any chocolate (No tengo nada de chocolate).
pedidos:
There are some grapes in the bowl (Hay algunas uvas en el tazón).
Do you want some tea? (¿Quieres algo de té?).
I want some juice please (Quiero algo de jugo por favor)
significa “unos pocos”, ejemplo:
There are a few cucumbers for lunch (Hay algunos pepinos para el almuerzo).
There is a little of sugar in the kitchen (Hay un poco de azúcar en la cocina)
Contenedores
contable.
Ejemplos:
Incontable: There is some rice (Hay algo de arroz)
Contable: There are two bags of rice (Hay dos bolsas de arroz)
63
