Noticias de PATA Reunión Telefónica: Si usted llamo anoche sabe que no había nadie. Nuestras mas sinceras disculpas. Sabemos que su tiempo es valioso y lamentamos cualquier inconveniencia. La próxima reunión será el jueves, enero 4 a las 7 pm. Mandaremos un recordatorio después del año nuevo.

Tienda de Navidad: La tienda de navidad se abrirá el próximo lunes hasta el jueves, 12/11-14, de 8:30 am - 3:15 pm. Los estudiantes podrán comprar regalos de navidad para familiares y amigos en esta tienda escolar dirigida por voluntarios. Los procedimientos beneficiara el objetivo de PATA de comprar 50 iPad ' s para la escuela. Los artículos se venderán por $1. Los estudiantes podrán comprar en el tiempo asigna-do por sus maestros.

Todavía estamos buscando voluntarios y artículos. Usted:

●Donar artículos que usted compre o que tiene en casa (recuerde ese regalo que recibió pero nunca uso) Los artículos deben ser cosas que niños de varias edades quisieran comprar para familiares y amigos.

●Ayudar en la tienda por uno o mas días. Puede venir por 30 minutes, una hora, o todo el día - lo que su horario le permita. Necesitamos voluntario que ayuden a los estudiantes mas pequeños seleccionar artículos, aceptar sus compras, y ayudar a envolver los regales que compren. INFORMACION DE PROGRAMA DE NAVIDAD

Estimados Padres:

Solo unos recordatorios sobre nuestro programa de navidad que será el jueves, diciembre 14. Los estudiantes tendrán que estar en SLIGO SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH (7700 Carroll Ave., Takoma Park, MD 20912) a las 5:30 pm.

1. VESTIDURA K-3º: Ropa de iglesia, colores de navidad, zapatos de Sábado 4-6º: Pantalones/faldas negras, blusas/camisas blancas con un accesorio rojo (corbatas, pañoletas) Coro Selecto: Uniforme de coro selecto con chaleco y corbata.

2. ASISTENCIA DE ESTUDIANTES

Por favor recuerde que nuestros hijos practicaron por muchas horas para este programa. Es MUY IMPORTANTE que cada estudiante este en el programa A TIEMPO. También es importante que su hijo vea que usted está en la audiencia mirando su participación. SE ESPERA QUE TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES ESTEN PRESENTES.

3. LUGAR Y HORA

Los estudiantes deben estar en SLIGO SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH a las 5:30 pm, para estar sentados a las 5:45 pm, y para comenzar el programa a las 6:00 pm.

4. CODIGO DE VESTIR

Por favor tengan en mente nuestro código de vestir y asegúrese que su hijo este vestido apropiadamente. El código de vestir no permite el uso de joyas y pedimos que respete esto. También, asegúrese que su hijo no esté masticando chicle durante el programa.

5. ROPA EXTERIOR

Al llegar a la iglesia, pedimos que tome el abrigo, gorro, guantes, etc. de su hijo y manténgalos con usted. De esta manera estos artículos no se perderán. Lleve a su hijo al santuario para reunirse con su clase para que puedan alinearse y prepararse para el programa.

6. DRAMA

Recuerde de traer la ropa y los artículos correctos para su participación. Todo debe ser entregado a Mrs. Taylor o Mrs. Flores para el lunes, diciembre 11.

7. LUGAR

Takoma Academy Preparatory School partners with JHU –

CTY identifying students who are eligible to participate in

their programs. This is for grades 2 – 8. TA Prep students

have qualified for this honor by scoring 95 percentile and

above. The subtests from Iowa Assessments that determine

eligibility are the following: Reading, Math, Math Total, Core,

Social Studies, Science and Composite tests.

Tournament will be held December 9 & 10, 2017 at Spencerville Adventist Academy.

Tournament fee is $150.00 per team.

Tournament format is Double Elimination. Awards given to the 1st and 2nd place teams only.

Players must be in the 5th-8th grade and a registered student at your school.

Brackets for both Boys and Girls teams.

Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 9th in the gym. Games begin at 6:30 p.m.

Admission for tournament – Adults ($6/day-$10/weekend) and Students/Children ($5/day-$8/weekend); Children under age 5 are free.

Team Roster’s cannot be changed once the tournament play starts. Make sure all players are listed on your roster when you check-in.

Registration Fees are non-refundable after December 1, 2017. Cancellations prior to December 1, 2017 will receive a full refund of all paid fees.

MARYLAND EXCEL LLC, WAIVER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY:In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the MARYLAND EXCEL HOLIDAY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, related events and activities (collectively, the “Event”), the undersigned, for himself/herself, his/her personal representatives, heirs, and next of kin: 1. Acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that the risk of injury from the activities involved in the Event is significant, including the potential for injury, permanent paralysis and death; and 2. KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume all full responsibility for my participation; and, 3. Tournament RulesPlayers: Players should be in the 5th-8th grade and a registered student of the school. Maximum of 15 players on a team.

Divisions: Boys and Girls Brackets. Awards given for 1st and 2nd place only.

Division Play: Double Elimination.

Game Regulations:

Regulation play—14 minute running halves. Stop-time during fouls and time-outs only until final 2 minutes of the half then clock will stop on all

whistles. Each team gets 2 - full and 1 - 30 second timeouts . The first overtime period will be five-minutes running clock with stop-time during fouls

and time-outs until final one minute of overtime period then clock will stop on all whistles. The second overtime period (if necessary) will be

“sudden death”. Each team will be awarded one time out to use in each overtime period (no carry over of un-used time outs from regulation). There

will be a 60-second intermission between periods.

Bonus free throws on seventh team foul per half. Double bonus free throws are awarded on the tenth team foul. Free throws will be shot for

technical fouls.

Mercy Rule: A team may not full court press if they are ahead by 20 points or more at any time during the game.

Disqualification:

Tournament officials (referees and coordinator) reserve the right to disqualify any player, coach, sponsor, parent, fan, etc. in regard to play and/or

attitude. Disqualification can be for remainder of game, next game and/or remainder of the tournament depending on the situation(s).

Maryland Excel Tournament will utilize NFHS rules for the current year; except where modifications have been made above.

Score Keeping Policy:

The home team will provide the official scorer. The official scorer must sit at the scorer’s table and is responsible for filling out the official

tournament score sheet. The home team will be determined by a coin flip.

Facility Notes:

Admission for tournament – Adults ($6/day-$10/weekend) & Students/Children ($5/day-$8/weekend). This fee allows entrance into all facilities.

NO practice basketballs will be distributed before game times and/or during warm-ups. Teams need to make provisions for own equipment, first aid

supplies, tape, pre-wrap, water, etc. NO OUTSIDE DRINKS, WATER BOTTLES, LIQUID CONTAINERS, ETC. WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT INTO

GYMNASIUM FACILITIES (with the exception of team water bottles).

Rule Changes:

Maryland Excel tournament coordinator reserves the right to change rules if required to improve tournament play. If changes are made to the rules,

notification will be given to all teams.

Rule changes will not occur after tournament play begins.

West on MD Route 198 for about 6 miles Continue straight ahead under Route 29 for 2.5 miles Turn right into entrance before flashing yellow light at Peach Orchard Road. Continue up the drive and the school will be directly in front of you.

Directions from Columbia:

(Approx. 13 miles)

Take US Route 29 South for about 10 miles. Exit right continue through the roundabout toward Burtonsville Turn right at third light and continue for about 2.5 miles on 198 west. Turn right at the entrance before the flashing yellow light. The school will be directly in front of you.

Directions from Maryland Beltway I-495:

(Approx. 9 miles)

Take MD Route 650 North/New Hampshire Avenue for about 8 miles Turn right, East on MD Route 198/Spencerville Road for about 2.5 miles Turn left after the flashing yellow light, the school will be directly in front of you.
