Dinosaurs lived on lhe earth for 135 million years. They appeared 200 millionyears ago, and they disappeared 65 miliion years ago. They were the largestanimals ever Iive on earth, and lhey ruled lhe earth for a very long period of tim e.Dinosaurs lived in North Arnerica, in Africa, and in Europe. During this time, theland in North America was under a large, shallow sea. Many-jdinosaurs lived in,the water, which helped to hold up lheir greal weight. The earíy dinosaurs wa lkedon two feel, and lhey ale meat. The later dinosaurs were larger,.and walked onfour feet. Some of the later dinosaurs ate plants only. The Steqosa unis was veryiarge. It was a plant eater, but it was often in danger from·the meat- eatingdinosaurs. 1\ developed scales along its back to protecl itself. The Slegosauruswas so large that il took a long time for messages to l ravel from its brain to its legs.

Windmill power

In its search far alternativas to fossil-fuel sources, science is looking back inhislory- at the windmills once were seen everywhere in Rural Ameriea, bu! mostwere abandoned wilh l he eoming 01 rural eleetrifieation in lhe 19305. Now e nergyshortages and rising petroleum prices have brought renewed ínterest in puttin9 thewind to work.Near Sandusky, Ohio, the Nalional Aeronaul ies and Spaee Administrat ion (NASA)is testing a 30-meter-tall experimental steel windmill with two slender 18.6-meteraluminium blades that look iike enormous airplane propellers. NASA's wind mill ,designed to whlrl at a steady 40 revolutions per minute even if the wind varias, generates 100 Kilowatts 01 power - enough to supply the needs 01 30 homes.Perhaps lhe most signifieant lael about the NASA experimenl is that it is the firstlarge-seale test 01 windmill teehnology in more than 30 years. Some seie ntistsestimale that with enough investmenl in researeh and developmenl , , wind millseould supply 20 pereenl 01U.S. electrlcal needs by the year 2000.-
