Nouns
• Have gender
• Feminine ends with “a” (usually)
• Masculine ends in “o” (usually)
• Those that end in a consonant you have to memorize whether they are feminine or masculine
Nouns
• Nouns are preceded by an article
• Definite articles are “el, los” (m) or “la, las” (f)
• Indefinite articles are “un, unos’ (m) or “una, unas” (f)
• The article must match the noun's gender & number (called gender/number agreement)
Adjectives
• Modify the noun
• Must have gender/number agreement with the noun it modifies
• Descriptive adjectives follow the noun
• If adjective ends with “e” or a consonant, it is used with both (m) & (f)……usually
• To make an adjective plural, add –s if it ends with a vowel and –es if not.

when we conjugate, we drop the –ar, -er, -ir and add the ending that corresponds to the subject

Ir – to go

You will usually see Ir followed by “a”

Stem – changing verbs
The stem of a verb is what is left after you have dropped the –ar, -er, -ir.
If you have a stem changing verb, there is a change only in the stem of the verb. It does NOT effect the verb endings for each tense.
The stem change applies to all forms except nosotros & vosotros.
