TIERRA DE GEOGLIFOS Galería de ArteTRANSCRIPT
La galería Tierra de Geoglifos
comenzó proponiéndose destacar
el crear que se realiza en la región
de Iquique, en el desértico norte
chileno.
Desde la obra del joven pintor,
luchador, de las poblaciones
populares, arte con sabor a dolor,
tierra y vida, hasta el sofisticado
profesor que elabora sus grises,
sus creaciones y sus recuerdos en
una constante elaboración.
De la labor del estudioso que
hormiguea entre los geoglifos,
respirando su historia y su belleza,
al poeta que protesta melancólico
el lamento regional.
Esa combinación de artistas
creadores y sensibles es la fuerza y
la atracción de la exhibición.
La galería llegando al cuarto
aniversario cuenta con el apoyo del
público de Iquique, de Chile y
del mundo, ampliando los
horizontes hasta regiones otrora
nunca sospechadas.

aAny attempt to recreate the real world into the next one, subjective, imagined, where logic nor perquisite of the common eye trample each other,
where not even the alteration of that balance that sometimes circumstance justifies, can be called aesthetic universe, as long as these two base elements align the masterpiece: form, in its exteriority assigning beauty, and essence, in its multidimensional interpretation.In the present earthly and business world, the artist must protect “the being in itself” and
if he/she shares his/her visions with others, will accept the aesthetic obligation of balance, not to fall into the temptation of accepting empty contents by exception.
Hence, the collective effort that is proposed to symbolize a certain presence of identity in some manifestations of regional creativity is valid as an integral product of a purpose that searches for roots.
The aesthetic multiplicity of created universes solves to a great extent this uncomfortable attitude of the ego, which is replaced by the “us”.We welcome this sample as an argument of identity within diversity.

Todo intento por re-crear el mundo real en el otro, subjetivo, imaginado, en que no trastabillan ni la lógica ni el percance del ojo cotidiano,
ni siquiera la alteración de ese equilibrio que a ratos la circunstancia justifica, puede llamarse universo estético, siempre que dos elementos basales imbriquen la obra:
forma, en su exterioridad que otorga belleza y fondo, en su multidimensión de interpretación.En el actual mundo terreno y mercantil, el artista debe cautelar el “ser en sí” y
si comparte con otros sus visiones, aceptará la obligación estética del equilibrio, para no caer en la tentación de la dejadez de aceptar contenidos nimios.
Por eso, el intento colectivo que se propone, para emblematizarcierta presencia de identidad en algunas manifestaciones de creación regional,
es válido como producto integrado de un propósito que busca raigambres.La multiplicidad estética de universos creados, resuelve, en gran medida
esa incómoda actitud del ego, que es reemplazado por el “nosotros”.Bienvenida esta muestra como argumento de identidad dentro de la diversidad.

Al pintar me angustia ver una tela en blanco frente a mí, para comenzar a descubrir lo que está dentro de ella,
éste lo pinté en una época confusa. El tratar de salir, como sea, hasta con desesperación de un laberinto,
o de romper con la realidad con temor, como pidiendo, que me den una mano,
que me saquen de una realidad paralela a mí,
figuras, líneas y formas se confunden en una realidad interior.
Nació en 1962.Desde 1994 pinta.

When I paint I am anguished to see a white canvas in front of me, to start discovering what is inside of it,
I painted this one in confusing times. Trying to come out with the desperation of a maze, no matter how,
or to break out of reality with fear, like asking to be lent a hand, to be pulled out of a parallel reality to me,
figures, lines and shapes mixed up with an inner reality.

Es parte de una serie de 16 pinturas,
pintadas con pigmento sobre lino,
en homenaje al pueblo ceremonial de Isluga,
en el altiplano chileno.
Nació en 1955.Licenciatura en Arte, mención en Pintura en la Universidad de Chile.
En su carrera ha ganado innúmeros premios entre ellos, la beca más importante de Chile Beca Amigos del Arte.
Ha ganado 4 significativos premios FONDART, del Gobierno de Chile.Entre su larga y exitosa carrera profesional ha expuesto en
innumerabless exposiciones y una de las principales la Bienal Iberoamericana en México, en 1992.
Born in 1955.Bachelor of Arts in Painting from Universidad de Chile.
Throughout his career he has earned several awards, among them the most important scholarship of Chile, Friends of the Arts Scholarship.
He has earned 4 significant FONDART awards, from the Government of Chile.During his long and successful career he has exhibited
in uncountable exhibitions being the Iberoamerican Biennial in Mexico City in 1992, one of the main ones was.

Está inspirado en este mes porque es un período de cambios. La llegada de la primavera se siente con más fuerza,
la cual está anunciada por la mariposas, que en este mes aparecen de vivos colores y el cambio está representado
en el caracol que se deja llevar en el vuelo, en busca de otros rumbos.
Andrea González, es una joven pintora. Comenzó a dedicarse integralmente a pintar en el año 1995. Desde su primera fase se destacan sus viajes delirantes por los colores, mezclados a texturas y líneas que le dan
fuerza envolvente y una vitalidad intensa a su obra.Un año después ya estaba participando en las principales exposiciones colectivas de la región,
donde el original vibrar de sus colores, el ondular sensual de sus formas y el onírico vibrar del conjunto de la obra atrae y embriaga a los espectadores.
Comenzó a estudiar pintura el año 1995 y ha expuesto, profesionalmente, desde el año 2002, en diferentes exposiciones colectivas, con sorprendente éxito.
Andrea González is a young painter. In 1995, she began her complete dedication to painting. From her initial stage we can observe her delirious trips through colors, mixed with textures and lines
that grant an involving force and intense vitality to her work. A year later she was already participating in the main collective exhibits in the region,
where the unique vibrating of her colors, the sensuous waviness of her shapes and the oneiric vibration of her whole art attracts and intoxicates observers.
She started studying painting in 1995 and as of 2002 she has professionally exhibited her works in several collective exhibitions with surprising success.
Inspired in this month because it is a period of changes. The arrival of spring is felt with more power,
announced by butterflies that arrive in lively colors this month with change
represented by a snail that allows to be taken in a flight searching for new destinies.

Con el deseo de plasmar una de las fiestas más importantes del norte chileno,
la Fiesta de La Tirana, he pintado esta tela queriendo, por medio de ella,
entregar el momento culminante de la llegada de la Virgen, donde se mezclan los bailes,
el colorido y la devoción en una noche única, donde el firmamento se viste de rojo y el
ardiente sol queda prendido en los trajes de cientos de hombres y mujeres que danzan sin parar.
Angélica Silva, pintora autodidacta, nacida en Santiago de Chile, radicada en Iquique ha participado en exposiciones colectivas en esta
ciudad y exponiendo en forma personal una selección de cuadros en óleo y acrílico. Paisajes del norte y sur del país además de retratos de estilo realista que destacan por su gran colorido.
Angélica Silva, self-taught painter, born in Santiago de Chile living in Iquique, has participated in collective art exhibits in this city and individual exhibits for a selection of oil and acrylic paintings.
Landscapes of the north and south of the country, besides portraits using a realistic style that features great colors.
Wishing to capture one of the most important festivities in the Chilean north, La Tirana,
I have painted this canvas hoping to deliver the peak moment of the Virgin’s arrival through it, where dances,
colors and devotion mix in a unique night, where the skies dress up in red
and the scorching sun is caught by the costumes of hundreds of men and women that dance without a rest.

Mi obra expresa la profunda experiencia de la contemplación del desierto de Atacama,
rescatando sus texturas, colores y formas, a través de la experimentación de diferentes materiales,
para lograr representar la riqueza de este extenso paisaje, aportando con mi propia visión en la
creación de un paisaje más subjetivo, que se abre a la imaginación del espectador.
Licenciada en Arte por la Universidad Finis Terra, Santiago de Chile.Ha realizado numerosas exposiciones y es una presencia constante y colaboradora en las diferentes actividades artísticas y culturales.

My work expresses the deep experience of contemplating the Atacama desert,

En esta obra me interesa la sobreposición de tonos grises y el ejercicio de la línea gráfica sobre miniaturistas
formatos, además de traspasar una pluralidad de forma-estilo hacia una sola obra.
Trabajo a partir, en algunos casos, de un automatismo síquico, donde van apareciendo estos
paisajes sicológicos que se abstraen y a ratos reiteran su forma.
Nace en Viña del Mar el año 1973.Estudia Publicidad en DUOC - Viña del Mar (1992), Pedagogía en Artes Plásticas
Universidad de Playa Ancha - Valparaíso (1993-1994) y posee una Maestría en Arte (mención Pintura-Grabado)
realizada en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Viña del Mar (1995 - 1999).Ha realizado innumerables exposiciones en Chile y el extranjero. Además de participar en numerosos talleres,
docencias, producciones y gestión artística tanto en Viña del Mar, Valparaíso, Casablanca, Illapel, Iquique.Actualmente dirije y produce el colectivo de artes visuales y gestión cultural CASAdealLADO.

In this work I am interested in the juxtaposition of gray shades and applying a graphical line on miniatures,
besides conveying a variety of style shapes in only one work.
I work starting from some cases of psychic automatism, where psychological landscapes
appear to abstract and in instances reiterate their shape.

La obra del arquitecto Francisco Javier Concha es de un gesto espontáneo, aprendió a observar, de mirar a su madre pintando, de reproducir un gesto familiar.
Es una pintura autodidacta, bellamente colorida, de tonos esencialmente básicos, y de figuras extrovertidas, naturales y sinceras.
Born in 1972.A successful and renowned architect in his field and in Chilean society.
The work of architect Francisco Javier Concha is a spontaneous act; he learned to observe, to look at his mother painting; to reproduce a familiar gesture.
It is a self-taught art, beautifully colored, of essentially basic shades; and of extroverted figures, natural and honest.

Hald es el seudónimo de un pintor que bromea con los colores, delira con las mezclas y su resultado y se satisface con eso,
sin pretensiones mayores ni aspiraciones posteriores.

Inspirada en las salitreras, especialmente Santa Laura. Evocación de la chimenea encendida en los años 90,
cuando vino el conjunto musical Quilapayún.
En esta obra participa una lata recogida en esa noche feérica,
acompañada de las voces cantando y de las ruinas de la Salitrera Santa Laura.
Estudió Artes en la Universidad Católica de Santiago, mención pintura.Destacada artista visual. Ha ganado varios premios en los concursos de pintura que ha participado:

La verdad es que esta pintura nace motivada como un desafío de nivel técnico personal. Yo creo que todos tenemos limitaciones en cualquier actividad que desarrollemos.
Es así como cada uno de nosotros se puede considerar un poco escritor, un poco crítico, un poco médico, poeta, físico, guerrero, cocinero y así entre tantas cosas; un poco pintor. Así
busco en cada pintura superar a la anterior, es por eso que la tendencia de mis pinturas sigue una línea bien definida. Cuando pinté al “Chueco” estaba feliz, la búsqueda de luminosidad en cada
pincelada me motivaba más y más. Vibro con cada pincelada y es una locura de sentimientos cuando consigo una pincelada adecuada, porque así como un átomo forma un cuerpo la pincelada correcta te indica
que el cuerpo se está formando y es así como nos re-creamos.
Yo nací en la querida ciudad de Iquique.El dibujo lo desarrollo sin saber, aún
cuando ni hablaba. Mi abuela me hacía dibujar círculos y líneas y medibujaba su tradicional dibujo: una casita de bosque, un camino, unpequeño lago con su pato y un cerro contemplando algunas nubes,
realmente simples e inspirador.
I was born in my beloved city of Iquique. I have been drawing without being aware,
even when I didn’t speak yet. My grandmother made me draw circles and lines and she would draw her traditional drawing for me: a house in the woods, a road,
a small lake with its duck and a mountain overlooking some clouds, truly simple and inspiring.

The truth is that this painting is born as a technical personal challenge. I believe that we all have limitations in any activity we carry out. Thus, each one of as can consider himself or herself a little bit of a writer,
a little bit of a critic, a little bit of a doctor, poet, physicist, warrior, cook and, among other things, a little bit of a painter. Hence, in every painting I search to surpass the previous one, and it is for that reason that my paintings follow a well-defined line.
I was pleased when I painted “Chueco” (Crooked), the search for luminescence in each brush stroke motivated me more and more. I shiver with each brush stroke and it is a whirlwind of feelings when I achieve a proper brush stroke, because in the same manner that an atom forms a body,
a proper brush stroke tells you that the body is taking shape and that is how we re-create ourselves.

Simplemente tengo el arte dentro de mí. Nací así. Yo no pinto, son mis manos; es esa intensidad que fluye dentro de mí y la dejo correr cuando agarro el pincel. Este cuadro lo diseñé así porque siento que existe una gran línea entre el mundo y lo infinito, el cual es puro. Maravilloso,
todavía inalcanzable, que nos hace verla presencia de un ser supremo tremendamente omnipotente; y el mundo... es como lo que yo soñaba.Soñaba con campos verdes y flores multicolores. Soñaba con una paz sin límites. Soñaba con la igualdad de razas y credos.
Soñaba con los niños creciendo sin peligros...Soñaba con personas que dirijan el mundo sin ambiciones, sin inmoralidades, sin crímenes.
Soñaba que el sol brille para todos. Soñaba con el amor...Pero me encuentro en un mundo con campos grises, llenos de astillas y flores marchitas sin paz.Con blancos y negros que matan a blancos y negros. Religiones que esclavizan, que maldicen.
Niños torturados, drogados, enfermos y sin inocencia. Gobiernos corruptos, inmorales, cegados por sus ambiciones, hasta cometer horrendos crímenes. Y el sol no brilla para todos, para unos es siempre noche negra, para otros, constante penumbra.
Y entonces... ¿dónde está el amor?...

I simple have the art inside me. I was born that way. I do not paint, my hands do, it is that intensity that flows inside me and I let it flow when I grab a brush. I designed this painting because I feel that there is a big line between the world and the infinite, which is pure. Marvelous, still
unattainable, which makes us see the presence of a supreme being immensely omnipotent; and the world... it is the way I dreamt it.I dreamt of green fields and multicolor flowers. I dreamt of endless peace. I dreamt of races and creeds without differences.
I dreamt of children growing up danger free...I dreamt of people ruling this world without ambitions, without immorality, without crimes. I dreamt of a sun shinning for us all. I dreamt of love...
But I find myself in a world of gray fields, filled with splinters and withered flowers without peace. With blacks and whites killing blacks and whites. Religions that enslave, that condemn. Tortured children, drugged, sick and without innocence.
Corrupt governments, immoral, blinded by their ambitions, to the point of committing horrible crimes.And a sun does not shinning for us all, for some it is always a black night, constant shadows.

Creció viendo los milenarios geoglifos -diseños gigantescos pintados sobre los cerros, las mesetas y los valles-
por los primitivos del lugar, sus ancestros,
y vivió jugando con ellos, sus íntimos,

Natural de iquique, la región desértica al norte de Chile, considerada la región más árida del mundo. Creció, vivió y aún mora en esa región de ocres y dorados, de naranjas y amarillos, donde el verde es color visitante y el agua gana con
destaque su condición de una maravilla de la naturaleza. Hoy es profesor de artes en la red escolar de la región y expone sus obras por el mundo.

Como profesor de aulas intranquilas, voy tejiendo historias de las pampas y el mar, del sol y el hombre andino, de presentes y pasados añorados... como pintor de esforzados pinceles, retrato el sonido del pueblo al cual pertenezco.
Challa Triste es parte de una serie de pinturas Whipala, donde se retrata las vidas del hombre y la mujer andina de este norte andino; rituales, rostros, quehaceres, son parte de este conjunto de obras.
La Challa, ceremonia de alegría y buenos augurios, está retratada desde el punto de vista contrario; desde la tristeza familiar o personal, la que sin embargo no impide la participación del
pueblo en los ritos ancestrales que son parte del pueblo andino.

Challa Triste (Sad Challa) is part of a series of Whipala paintings, where the life of the Andean man and woman of this Andean north is portrayed; rituals, faces, chores are part of this series of works.
La Challa, a ceremony of joy and good auspices, is portrayed from an opposite point of view, from a familiar or personal sadness, which nevertheless does not stop the people from participating in these ancestral rituals that are part of the Andean people.

Esta imagen la capté sin pensarlo mucho. Me gustaron el movimiento y la perspectiva que cambiaban según las bailarinas ejecutaban su baile en la plaza.
Levanté la cámara lo más que pude de manera de captar varios planos. Obturé varias veces, lo aposté todo y resultó así; creo que cuenta una breve historia con su atmósfera
nocturna y la serenidad de la muchacha que es protagonista de su fe.

I captured this imagine without giving it too much thought. I liked the movement and perspective that changed as the dancers did their dances at the plaza.
I lifted the camera as far as I could to capture different planes. I clicked several times, gambled it all and it turned out this way; I think that it tells a brief story with its night atmosphere
and serenity of the girl performing her faith.

LA GENTE INACABADA
Inacabados no porque les faltase un brazo, o una pierna, o algún ojo, a pesar de que si hubiese alguien así
no tendría la menor importancia. Había inclusive algunos a los que les faltaba un pedazo de vena,
o un riñón, o la parte de un nervio. No se sabía de nadie a quién le faltase el corazón. La mayoría era
aparentemente perfecta, intacta, en buen funcionamiento.

Son grandes figuras grabadas en el suelo o taludes de quebradas. Son dibujos-testimonios sobre el relieve del desierto.
Alcanzan dimensiones de hasta 180 metros.Son un archivo de arte gráfico codificado en líneas y formas,
documento-libro de la Historia de Tarapacáen los grandes espacios del desierto chileno.
Expresan la fuerte cosmovisión andina frente a potencias superiores, donde los objetos naturales poseen
vida propia y eterna: rocas, cumbres, quebradas, vertientes, mares, ríos, relámpagos, vientos, espacios, nubes.Son el rastro más visible dejado por las pretéritas civilizaciones que se desarrollaron en esta parte
del mundo conocido. Sólo el originario tiene la capacidad para interpretarlos. Fueron hechos por nuestros
antepasados tan humanos como nosotros los herederos de sus genes.
Nadie ha venido de las estrellas para hacer geoglifos en el desierto tarapaqueño.
SenénDuránSenén Durán es uno de los más tradicionales investigadores
de las raíces de la identidad cultural del habitante tarapaqueño.Su último libro se llama “Norte Nostrum”.
Senén Durán is one of the most traditional researchers of the roots of the cultural identity of the Tarapacá population.
His last book is called “Norte Nostrum” (North Nostrum).
They are large figures carved on the floor or the skirt of ravines.
They are drawings that give testimony of the desert’s landscape.
They reach dimensions of up to 180 meters.They are an archive of graphic art coded in lines and shapes.
Document-book of the History of Tarapacá in the vast spaces of the Chilean desert.
They express the strong Andean cosmos vision faced with superior powers, where natural objects have a
life eternal and of their own: rocks, peaks, ravines, springs, oceans, rivers, thunders, winds, spaces, clouds.
They were made by our ancestors as humans as we are the inheritors of their genes.
Nobody has come from the stars to make geoglyphs in the desert of Tarapacá.
