A, an + nombre contable

Se traduce por un o una.

Se usan delante de sustantivos contables en singular.

Se usan en oraciones afirmativas.

Recuerda que usamos a cuando el sustantivo empieza por sonido consonante y an cuando lo hace por sonido voclico.

Ej: a lettuce (una lechuga)Ej: an orange (una naranja)

Some + nombre contable

Se traduce por algunos, algunas

Se usa delante de un sustantivo contable en plural. Ej: some carrots (algunas zanahorias)

En general aparece en oraciones afirmativas pero podemos encontrarlo excepcionalmente en oraciones interrogativas para pedir algo en concreto. En este caso se traduce por unos, unas.Ej: Can you give some glasses, please? (Puedes darme unos vasos, por favor?

Puede ir seguido de la estructura of + sintagma nominal.Ej: Some of the students are taking an exam.

Any + nombre contable

Se usa delante de nombres contables en plural.

El verbo aparece en plural.

IMPORTANTE se traduce en singular!!

Nunca en oraciones afirmativas. Siempre en oraciones negativas e interrogativas.

Si va en una oracin negativa se traduce por ningn o ninguna.Ej: There aren't any tomatoes. (No hay ningn tomate)

Si aparece en una oracin interrogativa se traduce por algn o alguna.

Puede ir acompaado de la estructura of + sintagma nominalEj: Are there any potatoes? (Hay alguna patata?

No + nombre contable

Delante de sustantivos contables en singular y plural.

Siempre en oraciones en afirmativa.

Siempre se traduce en singular

Ej: There are no onions. (No hay cebollas)Ej: There aren't no onions (INCORRECTO)
