Enelespaciodelaprimitiva“Sinoga”delosjudíosqueocupalaRealFundacióndeToledo,distintosaveriguadoresysabiasinvitadashanhechoescucharalolargoestosañoslospensaresysentiresdeaquellagentedejadaenlasafuerasdelosgrandesrelatos,tantriunfalescomodespoblados.

AtthespaceoftheprimitivesynagogueoftheJewswherewecanfindtheRealFundacióndeToledo,differentinvitedinvestigatorsandwiseshavemadepeoplelistentothebelievesandfeelingsofthepeoplewhowereoutsidethegreattriumphalaswellasabandonedstories.

Sinembargo,resultainteresanteconstatarque,apesardetodaslassucesivasexpulsiones,yareligiosascomoladelosjudíos,yaracistascomoladelosmoriscos,ideológicas,económicas,etc.,aúnquedandentrosuficientesespañolesdistintos—“malosespañoles”losllamabannohacetanto—comoparaque,afortunadamente,laarticulaciónterritorialdelestadoylacuestióndelaidentidadindividualsesigansuperponiendoenesta“tierradeconejos”,poremplearlaetimologíafeniciamásprobabledelnombredeHispania.

Elnacionalismo,segúnseñalaraElieKedourie,esunadoctrinainventadaaprincipiosdels.XIX,perotambién,talycomoperfilóErnestGellner,unproductoinevitabledelassociedadesmasificadasmodernas,quenecesitangentedispuestaamorirporlosinteresesdeunaminoríaenriquecidayalmismotiempotemerososdelasinvasionesdelosdesharrapadosdelplaneta.Noobstante,haycambiosrecientesqueplanteannuevosproblemas.Unodelosprincipalesesquelabaseescritayliterariadelnacionalismodels.XIXhasaltadoporlosaires,ahoraqueestamossustituyendounparadigmadelibrospropiosporunparadigmadeimágenesfabricadasparatodoslosidiomasdelplanetadesdeHollywoodyTokio.Almismotiempo,ennumerosospaíseslanostalgiadeunagranfamiliaidealestádandopreferenciaamodelospolíticosexcluyentespordelantedelasanterioresconquistasdemocráticas,apesardelaactualatomizacióndelosconsumidoresenunmundocadavezmáshomogeneizado.Ciertamente,lalenguasiguemodulandoalgunoscomportamientos(“mañanaseráotrodía”,“andeyocaliente,

Nevertheless,itisinterestingtoconfirmthat,spiteallthesuccessiveexpulsions(religious,astheJewishcase;racist,astheMoorishcase;ideological,economic,etc.)therearestilldifferentSpanishpeople,“BadSpanishPeople”washowtheywerecallednotsolongago.Thiswas,fortunately,fortheterritorialarticulationofthestateandtheindividualidentitymattercontinuebeingoverlaidinthis“landofrabbits”,justtousethemostprobablePhoenicianetymologyfortheHispanianame.

Thenationalism,accordingtowhatElieKedouriesaid,isaninventeddoctrineatthebeginningofthe19thcentury,butalso,asErnestGellnerprofiles,anavoidableproductofthemodernovercrowdedsocieties,whichneedpeoplewillingtodiefortheinterestsofanenrichedminorityandatthesametimefrightenedoftheinvasionsbytheshabbypeopleoftheplanet.However,therearerecentchangesthatcontemplatenewproblems.Oneofthemainproblemsisthatthewrittenandliterarybasisofthenationalismofthe19thcenturyhasgoneupinsmoke,nowthatwearesubstitutingaparadigmofbooksforaparadigmofimagesdevelopedforallthelanguagesoftheplanetfromHollywoodtoTokyo.Atthesametime,inmanycountries,thenostalgiaofabigfamilyisgivingpreferencetopoliticalmodelsthatexcludethepreviousdemocraticconquers,inspiteofthecurrentatomizationofconsumersinaworldmoreandmorehomogenized.Certainly,thelanguagecontinuemodelingsomebehaviours(“Thereisalwaystomorrow”,“Whocareswhatpeoplethink”)andsomecertainattitudespersist(insult
