El que tiene las siete estrellas (1:20, los mensajeros de las iglesias) en su diestra.

He that has the seven stars (1:20, the messengers of the churches) in His right hand.

Apoc. 2:1, Cristo anda en medio de los siete candeleros de oro (1:20, las siete iglesias). Las conoce perfectamente.

Rev. 2:1, Christ walks among the seven golden lampstands (1:20, the seven churches). He knows them perfectly.

Jesús aprueba y alaba lo bueno en las siete iglesias (todas las iglesias de Cristo, Rom. 16:16).

Jesus approves and praises the good in the seven churches (all the churches of Christ, Rom. 16:16)

Pero Jesús condena los pecados y la negligencia de todas las iglesias de Cristo.

But Jesus condemns the sins and negligence of all the churches of Christ

Jesús promete bendiciones a los vencedores.

Jesus promises blessings to those who overcome.

Jesús habla palabras de aprobación para seis de las siete congregaciones.

Jesus speaks words of approval for six of the seven congregations.

Pero habla palabras de condenación de algunas cosas en cinco de ellas.

But He speaks words of condemnation of some things in five of them.

EFESO, 2:1-7. APRUEBA sus obras, perseverancia y disciplina.

EPHESUS, 2:1-7. APPROVES their works, perseverance and discipline.

No puedes soportar a los malos, has probado a los que se dicen ser apóstoles … Eran intolerantes.

You cannot bear those who are evil, you have tested those who say they are apostles … They were intolerant.

No has desmayado. Persistían en prac-ticar la disciplina, resistir el error. No se comprometieron con el error.

Aborreces las obras de los nicolaítas. Decían que miembros podían ser mun-danos y santos al mismo tiempo.

You hate the works of the Nicolaitans. They said that members could be worldly and holy at the same time.

Eran gnósticos. Enseñaron que el cuerpo es malo y lo que hace no afecta el espíritu. 2 Ped. 2:19.

They were gnostics. Taught that the body is evil and what it does has no effect on the spirit. 2 Pet. 2:19.

PERO TENGO CONTRA TI que has dejado tu primer amor. Su religión llegó a ser carga pesada.

BUT I HAVE THIS AGAINST YOU, that you have left your first love. Their religion became a heavy burden.

Se acabó la luna de miel. Olvidaron su compromiso. La iglesia ya no era su primer amor.

The honeymoon is over. Forgot their commitment. The church was no longer their first love.

Aborrecieron lo que Jesús aborrece pero no amaron lo que El ama.

They hated what Jesus hates, but they did not love what He loves.

Les faltó entusiasmo. Su espíritu ya no era ferviente. Como esposa que dice, “Ya no siento amor por ti”.

They lacked enthusiasm. Their spirit was not fervent. Like a wife that says, “I don’t love you any more.”

El Señor no tiene nietos. Una iglesia fiel ahora no es garantía que será fiel mañana.

The Lord has no grandchildren. A faith-ful church today is no guarantee that it will be faithful tomorrow.

ACUÉRDATE … arrepiéntete … haz las primeras obras (la luna de miel). Heb. 10:32, traed a la memoria días pasados

REMEMBER … repent … do the first works (the honeymoon). Heb.10:32, remember the former days.

Quitaré tu candelero. RÓTULO que dice “IGLESIA DE CRISTO” puede ser mentira.

I will remove your lampstand. SIGN that says “CHURCH OF CHRIST” may be a lie.

Varios edificios de iglesias de Cristo, vendidos. Hay congregaciones que se han convertido en iglesias sectarias.

Several buildings of churches of Christ have been sold. There are congrega-tions that are now sectarian churches.

AL QUE VENCIERE, le daré de comer del árbol de la vida .. En el paraíso. Mucho mejor que placeres mundanos.

2:8-11, ESMIRNA. El primero y el postrero, el que estuvo muerto y vivió dice lo siguiente:

CONOZCO tus obras, tribulación (en-carcelados, azotados, quemados), tu pobreza (despojados, sin empleo).

I KNOW your works, tribulation (im-prisoned, beaten, burned), your pover-ty (robbed, no employment).

Obligados a quemar incienso a la deidad del emperador. Entonces les daban un certificado de haberlo hecho.

Obligated to burn incense to the deity of the emperor. Then they were given a certificate to prove they had done so.

Era necesario mostrar el certificado para obtener empleo, comprar y vender. Apoc. 13:15-17, “marca de la bestia”.

Pero tú eres rico. Riqueza espiritual, Sant. 1:9, “El hermano que es de humilde condición, gloríese en su exaltación”.

CONOZCO la blasfemia (calumnia) de los que se dicen ser judíos (Rom. 2:28, 29). Son una sinagoga de Satanás.

I KNOW the blasphemy (slander) of those who say they are Jews (Rom. 2:28, 29). They are a synagogue of Satan.

NO TEMAS .. El diablo los echará en la cárcel … por diez días (tiempo corto), 1 Ped. 1:6, 7; 2 Cor. 4:17, 18.

DO NOT FEAR. The devil will cast you into prison for 10 days (short time), 1 Pet. 1:6, 7; 2 Cor. 4:17, 18.

2:10, “SE FIEL HASTA LA MUERTE, y yo te daré la corona de la vida”.

2:10, “BE FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH, and I will give you the crown of life.”

EL QUE VENCIERE no sufrirá daño de la segunda muerte, Apoc. 20:14.

HE THAT OVERCOMES shall not be hurt by the second death, Rev. 20:14.

2:12-17, PÉRGAMO. “El que tiene la espada de dos filos dice esto:” Efes. 6:17; Heb. 4:12, 13, convence, juzga.

2:12-17, PERGAMUM. “The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:” Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12, 13, convicts and judges.

CONOZCO TUS OBRAS, y donde moras, donde está el trono de Satanás – centro de idolatría, ritos sensuales.

I KNOW YOUR WORKS, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is – center of idolatry, sensual rites.

Pero retienes mi nombre (Sant. 2:7; 1 Ped. 4:16), y no has negado mi fe (la fe, el evangelio, Judas 3).

But you hold fast my Name (James 2:7; 1 Pet. 4:16) and did not deny my faith (the faith, the gospel, Jude 3).

Aun cuando ANTIPAS mi testigo fiel fue muerto (mártir) , donde mora (controla) Satanás. Rom. 7:17; 8:9.

Even when ANTIPAS my faithful witness was killed (martyr), where Satan dwells (controls). Rom. 7:17; 8:9.

PERO TENGO ALGO CONTRA TI: Tienes a los que retienen la doctrina de Balaam y de los nicolaítas, que yo aborrezco.

BUT I HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST YOU: You have those who hold the doctrine of Balaam and Nicolaitans that I hate.

Estas doctrinas decían que la gracia de Dios les dio licencia de vivir carnal-mente. (No disciplinaban como Efeso).

These doctrines said that the grace of God gave them license to live carnally. (They didn’t discipline like Ephesus).

Decían “No tiene nada que ver. No seamos fanáticos, extremistas. ¿Para qué causar problemas?”

They said “it doesn’t matter. Let’s not be fanatics, extremists. Why cause problems?”

ARREPIÉNTETE de tolerar a los falsos maestros y de tener comunión con ellos y los miembros mundanos.

REPENT of their tolerating false teachers and having fellowship with them and worldly members.

Si no te arrepientes, vendré a ti pronto y pelearé contra ellos con la espada de mi boca (con juicio y castigo).

If not, I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth (judgment, punishment).

AL QUE VENCIERE daré a comer del maná escondido – Cristo es el Pan de vida (nuestro maná), Jn. 6:32-35.

TO HIM THAT OVERCOMES I will give to eat of the hidden manna – Christ is the Bread of life (our manna), Jn. 6:35.

Le daré piedrecita blanca con su nombre: dada al librado de esclavitud, al que ganaba una carrera, a guerreros victoriosos. (Premio especial).

I will give him a white stone with his name on it: given to one freed from slavery, to the winner of a race, to victorious warriors. (Special prize).

2:18-29 TIATIRA. Hijo de Dios, ojos como llama de fuego (no engañado), y pies semejantes al bronce bruñido (para castigar el mal).

2:18-29 THYATIRA. Son of God, eyes like flame of fire (not deceived), feet like burnished bronze (to punish evil).

CONOZCO TUS OBRAS y amor, y fe, y servicio, y tu paciencia, y que tus obras postreras son más que las primeras.

I KNOW YOUR WORKS, love, service, faith, and patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.

PERO TOLERAS que Jezabel enseñe y seduzca a mis siervos a fornicar, comer cosas sacrificadas a ídolos.

BUT YOU ALLOW Jezebel to teach and seduce my servants to commit sexual immorality, eat things sacrificed to idols

Recuerde Hech. 15:29, “que os abstengáis de lo sacrificado a ídolos, de sangre, de ahogado y de fornicación”.

Remember Acts 15:29, “that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

Ser miembro del sindicato o morir de hambre. Miembros obligados a parti-cipar en fiestas paganas.

Be a member of a trade guild or starve. Members obligated to participate in pagan feasts.

Gran tentación de hacerlo para evitar persecución, no perder su empleo, poder vender y comprar en el mercado.

Great temptation to do it to avoid persecution, lose their employment, be able to sell and buy in the market.

Como ahora: Hay que decidir, ganar más dinero o poner la iglesia primero. ¿Cuál será, Dios o mamón? Mat 6:24.

As now: Must decide, make more money or put the church first. Which will it be, God or Mammon? Matt. 6:24.

Profesaban conocer las profundidades de Satanás: que es necesario probar el pecado para entenderlo y conquistarlo.

Professed to know the deep things of Satan: that it is necessary to experience sin to understand and conquer it.

LE HE DADO TIEMPO para que se arre-pienta, pero no quiere arrepentirse. Sant. 4:4, puede ser adulterio espiritual

“No os impondré otra carga”. Sólo cortar de comunión el partido de Jeza-bel que está destruyendo la iglesia.

“I will put on you no other burden”; Just cut fellowship with Jezabel’s party that is destroying the church.

LO QUE TENÉIS, RETENEDLO hasta que yo venga. Es como 2:10, Sé fiel hasta la muerte y te daré la corona de vida.

HOLD FAST WHAT YOU HAVE till I come. This is like 2:10, Be faithful until death, and I will give you crown of life.

AL QUE VENCIERE y guardare mis obras hasta el fin, yo le daré autoridad sobre las naciones.

HE WHO OVERCOMES, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.

LAS REGIRÁ CON VARA DE HIERRO, y serán quebradas como vaso de alfarero. Exaltado, comparte el reinado de Cristo. 3:21; 20:4.

HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels. Exalted, shares in reign of Christ. 3:21; 20:4.

Y LE DARÉ LA ESTRELLA DE LA MAÑANA. Emblema de familia real.

AND I WILL GIVE HIM THE MORNING STAR. Emblema of royalty.

CONCLUSIÓN: Cada carta termina con “El que tiene oído, oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias”.

CONCLUSION: Each letter ends with “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
