Polyethylene and polypropylenepolyolefin foams, most oftenclosed cells, are well-known due totheir low water absorption as well as tothe fact that they are weatherproofand greatly resistant to chemicalagents. Their optimal mechanicalfeatures, together with the fact thatthey are inert materials, preventfungus and bacteria proliferation. Inregard to POL XAF 30 SCA foam, it isthe only semi-open cell polyethylenefoam on today's market, bearing lowthermal conductivity and goodacoustic absorption. Moreover, whenthis foam shows a compression higherthan 70 %, it can be used for tightnessand absorbs irregularities betweentwo elements very well.

Semi-closed or semi-open cell PVC foams show great resistance to chemical agents and to fire. They also absorb irregularities very easily. The suitable compression rate to obtain a perfect tightness is between 30 and 70 %, according to density and quality.
Textile fibres that we use, either made of cotton, wool or synthetic, have endless applications within all the sectors. There is a very wide range, which allows their application of several additives or treatments according to regulations such as abrasion and fire resistance, appearance and acoustic degree.
Polyurethanes are normally open cell foams made up of two subfamilies: the one based on ether, with a great resistance to dampness and water, and the other based on ester, with a great resistance to oil and UV. These foams have an endless number of applications and presentations. By means of secondary processes their primary features can be modified: through an impregnating process in which the product is given higher weight, thus improving its acoustic and tightness characteristics as well as its fire resistance. Rebounding process, based on reusing and pressing PUR waste, which creates a product from between 80 and 250 Kg/m3, optimal for acoustic and anti-vibrating applications. Reticula-tion process, which guarantees 100% open cells, bearing a measure between 10 and 80 PPI thus allowing air getting through as well as liquid leakage, particle and noise filtration.
Elastomeric foams are very flexible products, normally of close cell, and bear a good recovery after being compressed, with a very low degree of water absorption. According to place and their function in each application, there are several compositions which make each of them have a more suitable performance, such as being more weatherproof and showing a better resistance to acid (EPDM), to oil and the ability to retard fire (CR); thermal and acoustic insulation and self-extinguisher (NBR + PVC). Within the elastomer range we can also find very special semi-closed cell products which, when compressed more than 70 %, work as tightness, adapting themselves to irregular surfaces. Within this family, we can also find high density and hardness compact rubbers. These materials can bear great physical effort.
