Es una enfermedad endeacutemica en 88 paiacuteses del mudo con un promedio de infectados de

12 millones de personas y en riego de contagio unos 20000000

Objetivos del enfoque tecnoloacutegico en el tratamiento de la Leishmaniasis

Objetivo general

Fortalecer la investigacioacuten y el desarrollo de tecnologiacuteas aplicables a las poliacuteticas de

salud puacuteblica en Nicaragua

Objetivo especiacutefico

Proveer a los investigadores sobre leishmaniasis un enfoque sobre las diversas

tecnologiacuteas desarrolladas en los documentos de patentes de invencioacuten

Divulgar las bondades del sistema de patentes como herramienta de informacioacuten

tecnoloacutegica a traveacutes del acceso gratuito de base de datos especializadas

Introduccioacuten

iquestQueacute es la leishmaniasis

Se le llama leishmaniasis a la enfermedad parasitaria causada por protozoos flagelados

unicelulares del genero Leishmania transmitida por picaduras de mosquitos hembras

hematoacutefagas del genero phlebotomus (del viejo mundo L major L tropica y L

aethiopica) y Lutzomyia (Nuevo mundo L mexicana y L Viannia braziliensis)

principalmente hasta la fecha se han descubierto 30 especies de leishmania de las

cuales 20 se han identificado en el continente americano

Desarrollo

iquestCuaacutel es el estado cliacutenico del paciente enfermo con leishmaniasis o leishmoniosis

El estado cliacutenico del paciente seraacute en dependencia de la especie de leishmania con la

que ha sido infectado por ejemplo la leishmaniasis visceral provocada por la picadura

phelobotomus perniciosus afecta las viacutesceras como el bazo y el hiacutegado de manera que

los agranda los hincha progresivamente fiebre dolor de cabeza color negro de la piel

(de done se deriva el nombre de kala azar o fiebre negra) peacuterdidas de peso entre otros

factores presente en el vijo y nuevo mundo es el maacutes mortal de los estados cliacutenicos

aunque expertos en el tema argumentan que la leishmaniasis visceral es producida por

un conjunto de especies de Leishmania en Nicaragua es el que seguacuten datos del

MINSA menos incidencia tiene en nuestro paiacutes Ver

En el caso del estado cliacutenico de leishmaniasis visceral esta puede transmitirse ademaacutes

de manera congeacutenita o sea el individuo puede nacer con ella a causa de la infeccioacuten

materna por transfusioacuten sanguiacutenea agujas infectadas entre otros medios propios de

transmisioacuten de enfermedades hemaacutetica infecciosos De manera general entendidos en la

materia diagnostican que en el viejo mundo un vector o mosquito hembra tiende a

transmitir solo una especie de leishmania mientras que en el nuevo mundo un mismo

mosquito puede transmitir diversos tipos de leishmania lo que demuestra la fragilidad

de las zonas endeacutemicas para el contagio de la Leishmaniasis visceral Ademaacutes de la

leishmaniasis visceral en Nicaragua se adolece de leishmaniasis cutaacutenea moco cutaacuteneo

y cutaacuteneo atiacutepica

La Leishmaniasis cutaacutenea atiacutepica provocada por las especies de mosquitos del genero

lutzomyia Las especies de leishmania que manifiestan afinidad por la sangre humana y

facilidad de adaptacioacuten para cohabitar con el hombre pueden contaminar a las

mascotas y convertirlas en reservorios por ejemplos caninos y equinos

Leishmaniasis cutaacutenea se manifiestan graves ulceraciones en la piel en un solo lugar o

difenes zonas del cuerpo

iquestQuieacuten descubrioacute la enfermedad

Leishman (de donde se deriva el nombre con el que se conoce la enfermedad) y

Donova descubrieron el paraacutesito en el antildeo 1900-19003 en muestra de macroacutefagos de

pacientes enfermos

Tratamiento de la enfermedad

Reinaldo Gaspar Vanna (1885-1914) en 1910 descubre que la enfermedad puede

curarse con sales de antimonio pentavalente (SbV) sin decir el mecanismo por el cual

surge este efecto

Accediendo a la base de datos de patentes httpepespacenetcom-worldwide al buscar

el compuesto Meglumina and leishmaniasis encontramos la patente US 4002741 abril

de 1974 de Kulbkh et al que reivindica una composicioacuten de meglumina en

combinacioacuten con diversos compuestos de intereacutes farmaceacuteuticos como antibioacuteticos

macroacutelidos para el tratamiento de la micosis en el hombre y animales asiacute como la

mezcla con Beta anfotericina para el tratamiento de la Leishmaniasis En la

actualidad se sabe que muchas especies de leishmania que desarrollan cierta resistencia

a las sales de antimonio deben ser tratadas con Beta anfotericina

Al continuar con nuestra buacutesqueda en la misma base de datos cuando escribimos

como paraacutemetro de buacutesqueda leishmaniasis esta nos arroja un resultado de 161

documentos de los cuales tan solo 75 pueden ser apreciados por lo menos en lo que

respecta al tiacutetulo de la invencioacuten al continuar con el desarrollo tecnoloacutegico en la

materia encontramos la patente US 5202320 que describe compuesto quiacutemicos para le

tratamiento de la leishmaniais de la foacutermula I

otros estaacuten haciendo en la materia y buscar otros mecanismos para obtener la

informacioacuten desead ademaacutes que cuando una invencioacuten solicita patente en un paiacutes de

habla distinta en la que se ha realizado la invencioacuten debe de entregar la correspondiente

traduccioacuten

Conclusiones

La leishmaniasis es una enfermedad que si se trata a tiempo y correctamente la persona

puede superar satisfactoriamente la enfermedad es necesario que la poblacioacuten de las

zonas endeacutemicas conozca la enfermedad a la aparicioacuten de los primeros siacutentomas

ronchas granos oscurecimiento de la piel entre otras con el objeto de intervenir de

manera oportuna en el tratamiento de la enfermedad

Los documentos de patentes de invencioacuten nos ensentildean como ha venido evolucionando

el estado tecnoloacutegico de los medicamentos para tratar la leishmaniasis estos

documentos tambieacuten son muy uacutetiles para enriquecer las charlas que se le pueden

impartir a la poblacioacuten asimismo estos documentos representan una fuente de

informacioacuten cientiacutefica y tecnologiacutea valiosiacutesima para el investigador

Se han realizado una buacutesqueda de documentos tecnoloacutegicos sobre Leishmaniasis en la

base de datos httpepespacenetcom esta es una de la manera maacutes sencilla de realizar

una buacutesqueda sin embargo la buacutesqueda de un documento especiacutefico es mejor hacerla

por nuacutemero de patente publicacioacuten nombre del inventor o bien por clasificacioacuten

internacional de patentes tema que no hemos abordado en este pequentildeo enfoque sobre

la leishmaniasis

Recomendaciones

1 Prohibir la tenencia de caninos en las zonas endeacutemicas del paiacutes

2 Realizacioacuten de charlas perioacutedicas sobre el la enfermedad el vector y los los

siacutentomas de la enfermedad

3 Realizar vigilancia preventiva en reservorios como perezosos y equinos de las

zonas endeacutemicas

4 Realizacioacuten de fumigacioacuten perioacutedica de las zonas endeacutemicas

5 Uso de mosquiteros

6 Control de ratas mediante el uso de cebos

Estudios prometedores

Argentina

Aunque las lesiones producidas por chagas en el organismo son de caraacutecter irreversible

cientiacuteficos argentinos han encontrado que las ceacutelulas madres (ceacutelulas tomadas de la

medula oacutesea han dado excelente resultado en pacientes con cardiopatiacutea en los ensayos

con 9 pacientes se ha logrado una restauracioacuten completa esto fue para el 2004 y en

referencia a ello en el presente enfoque no se encontrado ninguacuten documento vinculado
