THE SACRAMENTS LOS SACRAMENTOS

BAPTISMS for Children take place in English on

the 2nd Saturday of the month. Parents, please

register the child at the rectory at least one

GODPARENTS REQUIREMENTS : Godparents: A man and a woman over the age

of 16 years; if married, they should have been

married in the Catholic Church. (Please bring

your marriage certificate)

If the Godparents are single, they must not

live with a partner and must have received the

three sacraments of initiation, viz., Baptism,

Confirmation and Holy Eucharist (Communion). They must bring as proof, certificates of Baptism,

Confirmation and Holy Eucharist (Communion).

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

(CONFESSION): Saturday 4:30 PM in English in

the Church. Any day in the Rectory with an

appointment.

MATRIMONY (MARRIAGE): Couples should

make an appointment with the Pastor Rev. Jose

Ambooken at least 6 months before the wedding

date. They will then get all of the information

required.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Please inform a

priest whenever anyone is seriously ill. In case of

emergency, call the rectory at any time.

faithful. Most recently, the Appeal extended assistance to 33 parishes for operational

expenses, which included updated HVAC equipment, reinforced structures, as well as

beautiful, safe spaces in which to gather for fellowship and prayer.

St. John Vianney Center is the archdiocese’s home for our retired priests. They live in

community, celebrate daily Mass, and share in a variety of activities on the bank of the

Hudson River. The facilities are designed for those with limited mobility and feature a

13-bed enhanced care unit for those requiring specialized medical assistance and end

of life care.

5-Funding for Parish Schools: $2 Million: Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of

New York provide students with a competitive, Christ-centered education, preparing

them both, intellectually and spiritually, to become tomorrow’s leaders. This work

continues to evolve with academically rigorous programs in 198 schools and a recently

expanded special-needs program, all thanks to your generous gifts to the Cardinal’s

RE: CORONAVIRUS AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES UPDATED AND REVISED

In light of the developments in the past twenty-four hours concerning the “community” spread of the

coronavirus in New York, the archdiocese has been advised by Dr. Walid Michelen, “Archcare’s”

chief medical officer, to upgrade our advisory concerning measures to prevent transmission of

COVID-19. ArchCare strongly recommends, and the Cardinal agrees, that the following measures

• Holy water fonts should be emptied, cleaned and refilled on a regular basis.

• The sign of peace should be exchanged without physical contact.

• Distribution of the Precious Blood of Christ from the chalice to the faithful should be suspended

during these days.

• Given the frequency of direct contact with saliva in the distribution of Holy Communion on the

tongue, every consideration should be made by each individual to receive the host reverently in open

hands for now for the protection of all. Ministers are reminded to use anti-bacterial solution before and

after distribution of Communion.

• Sickness is a valid reason not to attend Mass and other church gatherings. Anyone who is ill or has

flu-like symptoms should be urged to stay home. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is broadcast on

several television channels; the sick can make “spiritual communion” until they return to good health.

RE: CORONA VIRUS Y MEDIDAS PREVENTIVAS ACTUALIZADAS Y REVISADAS

A la luz de los acontecimientos ocurridos en las últimas veinticuatro horas con respecto a la

propagación de la "comunidad" del coronavirus en Nueva York, el Dr. Walid Michelen, director

médico de Archcare, aconsejó a la archidiócesis que actualice nuestro asesoramiento sobre medidas

para prevenir la transmission de COVID-19. ArchCare recomienda encarecidamente, y el Cardenal

está de acuerdo, que las siguientes medidas deben ser implementadas por los pastores mientras

continúe esta amenaza:
